That is horrible. The spokesperson's remarks were rather threatening towards the MTs, as to being bound by confidentiality and that they were in breach of their contract anyway by not meeting TAT???

I feel bad for those MTs and doubt they ever see a dime.

Is this the future of the smaller MTSOs?

That company is a disgrace. I pay MTs out of my own pocket before I even bill the clients, let alone the check clearing. I am a transcriptionist myself and know how it is as well as immensely value the help I get in keeping my accounts. I worked for an MTSO for years that had severe issues paying me or anybody else and would owe me at any given time up to $12,000 or more and kept telling us the clients were not paying. I ended up taking over the accounts and found out it was her not billing the clients. That is just horrible....

It's a risk with every employer, but especially those who utilize only ICs. If a company goes bankrupt, payroll has to be paid before anything else. But that's for employees only--not ICs.

Reminds me of an MTSO (run by two guys who didn't know anything about MT) when I was in my 20s. I was supposed to receive a check every two weeks, but it was like pulling teeth. He would usually ask me to wait for some reason or another. One time I asked for my check, and he put a check mark on a blank piece of paper and handed it to me with a big grin. Quit soon after. :p

One more reason to get out of the MT biz...whole biz - sm

I just brought in my mail and there was the March 28 issue of "For the Record", a magazine that was part of my AHDI membership benefits.
