Yesterday I was a basket case because of the stress of my work and the crappy dictators. Today the only difference is I'm not a basket case, but the crappy dictators are still there. The only thing that keeps me going is the thought that I can retire at the end of the year. Heck, I could retire in May if I want to, but I want to try and tough it out.

I know how you feel. Last night while working on-site for pennies on the line I was tempted to walk out. Mind you, I have been at this place for more than 17 years. Used to be paid hourly, not any more. I had the worst doctors last night. I went home and cried. Just cannot take much more.
Yeah, and that why they pay us "big bucks" for having to put up with this crap-- NOT! - Tired of it

Because they "value our expertise and knowledge"-- haha. That's why they keep lowering the line rate. Pretty soon we will have to pay THEM in order to have a job!
Today I will make less than half of what I normally get because all I've gotten today are crappy, hard to understand dictators, both ESL and English-speaking. Seems like all I get lately are the hard to understand, mush-mouth dictators. Guess Nuance doesn't want their MTs making quota. Sorry. I just had to vent. ...
I hate this new job so much and yet I have to work. Can't survive on Social Security. I was so relaxed and calm on my days off and now that I'm back to work, I'm in tears again. There is way too much "computer crap" for me to learn and I am just so frustrated. MT has turned into a computerized nightmare for me and I'm sure a lot of other old MTs as well. My transcription QA has been 100% so there is definitely no problem with knowing how to do transcription ...
Tired of bouncing around. Been an MT for 30 years, 58 years old, last company I was with thought I would be there for at least until I retired, but kept running out of work, and there was a lot of mandatory overtime when the work did build up, and there was no flexibility when it came to vacations and off days. I started with a company and this is my last week of paid training 12 DPH. The pay is good, but they do not pay me for spaces (I knew this when I hired on) but thought I would give it a ...
Several weeks ago, received an e-mail from my CCM, stating that all reports that had gone through the offshore MTs on a particular account had to be 100% QA'd voice to text. First off, this report had gone through an offshore MT and not one but TWO offshore QA and now has to be 100% QA'd by a US MME on top of it and all changes have to be documented for an audit. This has been going on for several weeks due to complaints from the hospital on the quality ...
I am level 3. I have been typing report after report for the worst doctor on the planet (not English of course). I have lashed out at my daughter, sent her a text to school apologizing, and now am in tears. I only want to work and make a decent wage. This has become so stressful and impossible I am just sitting here crying. Please no flaming today -- I look all the time for something else, have applied, interviewed, etc. When you have done this ...
So, decided to rip the band-aid off early and check on my paycheck in Ultipro. After deducting my pto pay and using actual hours, production pay, Now at just over $8/hr. There was a day I made average $15/hr, and I was one of the slow, meticulous ones.
Really not sure why I put myself through this pain but it renews my resolve every 2 weeks to get out of here. This working 3 jobs is slowly killing me, and so tired of working until 10 o'clock at night.
And like so m ...
After using ExText speech for a couple years, I'm now having to learn Escription. Either I haven't had the right training or I just can't get with it. It doesn't help almost all the work is regular transcribing either, then a speech document, then back to regular transcribing.
I so looked forward to Escription but the keys used are quite different from ExSpeech, and so far it's been a disaster.

I really had hopes this payday after really pouring it on every shift, adding to expansions every shift, using all the "handy hints" they gave us. Still not cutting it.
Please God answer my prayers and get me out of this stress factory.
And God, if it's not time to get out of here, please, oh please get MQ to do the right thing and "fix" ASR.
Don't make us keep changing dangerous abbreviations. Don't make us keep fixing "headings" that were not dic ...
I have NEVER cried with a job before. Over 20 years in this world and it has finally brought me to this. A new QA/Team lead has now informed me that the specs are wrong and to do it like she says. Next problem, report had that a patient had her bags stolen from an airline. She had her "big bottle of narcotic pain medicine" in those bags. She called her pain management doctor as soon as she landed. He told her to go to the nearest ER. I could not make out the drug with 100% certainty, so I ...
Have you ever had a patient's report bring you to absolute tears? I've been doing this for nearly 9 years and this if the first time this has happended...wondering if this job is really starting to get the best of me? ...
Just got the email today that effective 10/01/2010, my MTSO (whom I will not name) will no longer be paying holiday pay (aka 1.5 cpl) for any holidays anymore b/c of "the economy." R U *** kidding me? First of all, I thought that the recession was officially over in 2009, but I could be mistaken. Secondly, I know holiday pay and OT and all that is a "perk" and not required by law to pay us, but yet they expect us MTs, er me, to work all major holidays for the same crappy cpl as always ...
And by the crappy work I mean ONLY the lowest paying jobs. This is so totally rediculous. Of course the lower paying/new jobs at least is work, but that seems to be all that's left anymore. Can't even get up early and get work.
I'm outa here. ...
I'm a tier 3 MT who works part time. I've been pretty much happy with shift, pay, work types, etc., until this past week. All of a sudden, everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) is out of TAT, mostly ER reports, and just horrible sound files. Lots of static, "bubble" sounds, canny sound like you get with speaker phones. On top of all that, my CCM announced on Thursday she was leaving and was gone on Friday. First thing new CCM did was whine about all the ou ...
I know it sounds petty, but at least with OSi you felt appreciated when the mailman brought you the little box with the OSi coffee cup full of Christmas candy and a card. Now, just another workhoarse . Thank you Nuance, Merry Christmas! ...
A $2,500 deductible for individuals? Are you nuts? $5,000 for families?
Are you going to give us ANY paid holidays? Or are you going to make it so we no longer get any paid holidays just like the rest of your poor employees?
As a publicly traded company, you should be ASHAMED to be offering your employees such lousy benefits.
And thank you, Webmedx losers at the top who sold our company to one that is obviously going to make our benefits even more unaffordable in addition to sending a portion ...
I just want to know how to keep lines per hour up if they can't even fix flaws in their software. This is like expecting a car mechanic to fix a car without the proper tools, like a surgeon without his instruments, like a pianist without a piano, like a photographer without film, like a painter without paint, like a gas station attendant without a pump, like a seamstress without a needle, like a mailman without mail, like a skydiver without a parachute, l ...
I've been gone for a month now. I feel like bricks have been taken off my chest. I don't feel the vomit rise in my throat when I checked Fiesa. I work somewhere else for a little bit less money (about $20 day less), but it is so worth it. There are companies hiring now. The pay might be a little less than Nuance, but take it. In other small companies, the people you work for are nice and they care like the company I came from before Nuance. ...
A new ESL dictating a DS. Can't speed him up because he's too "new" (to this country?). He is spelling every other word!!!!!! AND then spells it again - extubated, e-x-t-u-b-a-t-e-d, extubated e for elephant, x for crosses, t for tom, u for umbrella, b for .......... get the picture (sigh)?
On top of that, the report is 28 minutes long!!! Should never have gotten out of bed this morning. LOL
I do feel bad for him that he doesn't realize he doesn't have to spell every other ...
Hello,
I was interested in becoming a MT because I recently became a mom and would like to work from home. Can anyone tell me the best way to get started? Is there a class/ school you recommend? Or is there a book I can study and take a test to get certified? I am financially strapped so which would be the best for me? I currently work in the medical field in the ER as a Doctors Scribe so I have quite a bit of medical terminology. Thanks for your input! ...
Has anyone found it incredibly hard to find a job outside the home after working as an IC for a long period of time. I apply everywhere and never get a call back. I recently lost my job as an IC and don't want to even bother with MT work anymore. I have been spending time online and applying everywhere. No one wants you to apply in person anymore. ...
Nuance is any better than it's getting around here at MM? I see they want experienced MTs rather than newbies in one of the ads, so that would sound like they'd expect to have to pay better at least. I used to think this place was better, but not lately. Does anyone here work for both currently, or even recently? ...
Hey folks,
I recently got put on an ESL, primarily Spanish, account at KeyStrokes. I'm having a very hard time with these dictations. Can anybody give me some tips for better skills understanding this accent? I've been doing ESL dictators of Indian and Asian accents without really any problems at all. However, these Hispanic ones are really giving me problems. Thanks. ...
