I found this interesting and just wanted to pass this information along. Unemployment compensation if you are either terminated or laid off, is not necessarily "a given." I was laid off one employee position at the beginning of July and terminated from an employee positon the beginning of August. The company I was laid off from, I was only with for a short period of time, and they lost the account. The second positon, I was with then company for 3 months, and could not meet their quality requirements, even though they had HORRID ESL docs.
I filed for UE on or about 8/7/2014, and just received notification late last week that I would not be receiving UE, due to the fact I was not "in their base period," essentially from 4/1/2013 to 3/31/2014. So, in essence, I cannot collect, because I did not have any income or earnings to report during that period of time. This is where UE is right now in the "timeframe with their quarters."
In essence, if you started a job after those dates and are either laid off or terminated, then you would NOT be eligibile to receive UE compensation.
