California NJA Compensation - smmt

To whoever it was that said they are compensated for NJA in California, can you give me some more info on how you found out about CA compensation for NJA? Did your TSM or HR confirm? How exactly do you enter it in Teamwork? I am also a California MT with NJA almost every day. Thanks.

TSM and HR about it. There is some policy about it, but because I am not in that state, I don't have specifics for you.

They have to pay you for half your shift, up to 4 hours. If you work 8 hours a day, and you work only 1 hour, you do work availability for 3 hours (to add up to 4). Then do excused time out-no jobs availability for 4. If you are running out of work, you can also get partial unemployment, which you would then add up what you made for the week (with production plus work availability) and whatever your weekly rate is, they would supplement the rest.

I had looked it up at the California Government site before. Here is the page with the information.

You must be paid for at least 4 hours if you were scheduled for 8 hours (or at least half your shift if less than 8 hours)

If you worked any hours less than 4, subtract those hours from 4, and that is the added time they must pay you for. If you sign on and there is no work (for the 15 minutes), you get paid for 4 hours (at least half your shift if less than 4 hours). Pay is at minimum wage.

I put in a Remedy ticket for no work and add to the time card NJA and the Remedy ticket number and put the hours under job availability. Then, I add the amount of time left to make up the 4 hours. I put it under job availability and I put California pay in the note area.

I haven't had any problems doing it this way. I am frustrated, though, that I effectively lost pay before I researched this as I certainly did not get any reply to my email asking what was different for California since that state was mentioned.

My TSM wants us to add the hours in under teamworks. I add in four hours work availability and then she puts the other four hours excused absence no work available. Then they pay you for four hours at your benefit rate, not minimum wage. HTH

you only get 15 minutes work availability - 4 hours?

I am supposed to be paid 3 hours mimimum if no work and I have never been paid for my time when there is NJA. I even put my State in my Remedy ticket and also in my 'leave' section in teamwork.

Do you put the number of hours you are to be paid in Teamwork? - dnr

Nobody reads the comments in the Remedy NJA - they just note the number of hours entered for statistics. I had asked my TSM about that as I have left messages before. She said all she gets is a notice that an NJA was filed.

You have to enter it on the time card like I do for California and make sure you click job availability.

I, too, live in California. I'm a level-3 MT, getting mostly ESLs and other difficult dictators. I've brought my QA percentage down from 22 to 20% but it's impossible for me to go any lower with what I'm being routed. It looks like our job description has changed dramatically.
