OTI: How would you like to respond to the recent work flow email and comment?! - about the T account
Posted: Nov 29, 2013
Does A not realize most of us were celebrating Thanksgiving with our family and giving no thought to OTI?!!!!!!!
whine if you do and - whine if you do not

heck two days ago many were on here complaining about the lack of work for weeks, if not longer. now someone is complaining because the work load is backed up and they were asked to work on a holiday to keep it in TAT. gees. make up your minds already.
People want work DURING their schedule - anon

Many of us have very busy lives with family and friends outside of work. Why anyone would think MTs should be happy to drop everything and cancel plans with their loved ones is silly. Of course people would complain, especially if they sat around all week waiting for work on their planned schedule.

I would not call less than 200 jobs âbacked upâ by any means. âWhine if you do and whine if you do notâ sounds like an OTI comment. We all fill out calendars with daily line commitments, so why are you constantly caught with your panties in a bunch? Your lack of planning does not generate an emergency on the part of an IC, nor should the IC be expected to change plans to compensate for your lack of adequate management skills.
OTI appears to have the mindset that their ICs are content scrounging for the few drips of work that have been available on the T account for months now and that through the finely honed techniques of berating and disparaging their ICs we can be âencouragedâ to keep TAT during times when the accountâs in-house MTs are most likely on holiday. Suddenly we are valuable again. Where was our value to you when we had no work and you offered us no communication regarding the lack of work we were all enduring? The OTI ICs on this account seem to be only good enough to keep the TAT on leftover work or dictators of abysmal quality.
Not to mention, A certainly lacks class in her communication. She apparently has not comprehended the old idiom: âYou can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar'.â Suggesting MTs are not able to work due to illness from overindulgence of turkey is just gauche; reminds me of a subpar parent trying to get a point across. Even a child knows the words please and thank you go a long way.

It's very discouraging to be available when we are supposed to be and have no work. Then once in a very great while when the account gets a little backed up and it's a holiday, we are scolded. There were a lot of e-mails yesterday regarding that T account, but when I send an e-mail asking why my other accounts were taken away or what is going on with that account, there's dead silence!

they automatically are in "management" at OTI is just plain ludicrous. I do not work for OTI, never have and never will. If you have a problem with the company, take it up with them, and not with an innocent bystander who simply commented that some people are not satisfied with anything that comes their ways, and whine whether they have work or they do not! One cannot have it both ways.

If you don't work for OTI, you don't know the situation and you would know that this subject has been "taken up with them" but they choose to not give us answers. Not sure why someone who supposedly doesn't work for the company would have such strong feelings or even care to be involved in this discussion.
Well, don't forget in the mail barrage, one of MTs said, if you are not sm - getting your lines, you are not trying hard enough

Bad enough to get the occasional digs and nastygrams from A, but to get that from supposedly a fellow MT was disheartening.
Your post is spot on -- thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Not only that, I think that person said she - sm

Weren't we told in an e-mail yesterday from AK that if we had a problem to "take it up on the board?" Guess they don't want e-mails from us asking direct questions? I thought that was really strange.

How about sending us an e-mail stating why we have no work? What is wrong with answering our questions? How about addressing the problem instead of having us speculating on this board?
I think they meant the OTI board, not here. nm - They will not answer there either
I have had no work this entire week. The only day I got to work that I was scheduled was Sunday. Since then, NJA for my ENTIRE shift EVERY DAY!!
I sent an email to my CCM stating that I cannot continue like this. I want to know why I am not getting any work and if it is because our accounts don't have any work, I want to be put on an account that DOES have work.
I have emailed and emailed and called and called, and she doesn't respond (not that this is new, mind you ...
I agreed to do a STAT job that was only to be 90 min of dictation within a 24-hour period of time. When I first responded to do this job, I was told they found someone else to do it. I then recieved a phone stating that the original transcriptionist bailed on her and could I do it. However, not only did she want the 90 min dictation she wanted a 31 min multi-speaker consultation as well, STAT. The audio was sent in a format that was not compatible with a foot pedal. I did the 31 min job, ...
Hi,
I'm considering filing intermittent FMLA for chronic photophobia. Periodically I cannot look at the monitor and thus cannot work because of it. I have 8 hours PTO left and if I am out of PTO, I need FMLA to cover me taking off without pay.
I'm a good producer, show up and work my schedule, high quality, and handle 4 accounts on a weird evening/weekend shift (my choice of work times) so that I do not run out of work. Previous to this year, I was rarely OOW, but now eve ...
Okay, the physician is unintelligible. Says the patient is perfectly healthy, but he cannot understand why the patient is so slow to respond. Duh....Dr. even has the audicity to suggest a neruology consult to see why the patient answers questions so slowly. Like my brother'in-law was asked if he had "hot buns." for heartburn. Sigh. ...
I have been invited to test with Precyse. I was just wondering of any current Precyse MTs could tell me if Precyse is a good company to work for, i.e. pay on time, straight typing or speech rec, good platform, responsive management/TL, benefits any good, vacation time available, etc. I am currently working for a good company but the days/hours stink; so, don't want to jump into the fire so to speak.
Thanks so much for your response ahead of time. ...
I have 2 questions that I wold really love some feedback on. It's not important how long I have been transcribing, the fact is that I have worked for some major MTSOs over the years and the llongest I have ever been on 100% QA is 3-4 weeks, more likely 1-2 weeks. Now that I am starting my second month with Nuance I have been placed on 3 separate aaccounts. The first 2 I was fine with, but then they sent me an emial stating that I would be switched over to a new go-live acc ...
Yes, I know we get lots of these questions every day but here's one I don't think has been touched on lately.
I was recently approached by an old employer about giving my information to another MD for transcription work. I told her that she can definitely give out my info if she new someone that needed transcription work done. I didn't really think it would go anywhere, as that's the way it happens in this town, nothing ever comes to fruition.
However, today I g ...
From reading post after post on the New MTs Board, it seems like one of the main reasons a lot of people chose the Medical Transcription field is because they were lured in by the “work at home, when you want” dream. But when reading through the job opening ads, any type of flexibility is usually reserved for Independent Contractor positions, and IC positions usually want lots of experience so the MT can work with little or no supervision.
On top of that, at least in my opinio ...
I just got an email about these positions. Sounds good to me. I only want part-time work, so this would be right up my alley. The pay is kind of low in the beginning, but they do raise you to 8 c/l after probation. not too shabby huh???
What opinions are there here regarding this company? Good, bad or otherwise??? I saw their web site here and it sounds okay, but then you never know. Anyone currently working for this company now???? ...
an application? I submitted one at least 2 weeks ago... and it was no easy process as I couldn't log into the system, yada, yada. So, that makes me even wonder if they got my app and resume. But is it normal that they take forever to respond? Or is it normal if they don't want you, that they just ignore you? I just would prefer closure. I know Nuance well, as far as I know its not the dream job, to say the least. Just wondering what's up w ...
How do I respond to the Psych Eval MT position? There is no email address given in the post and when I try to reply by MT Stars email it gives me a failure notice. Thanks! ...
checking the QA box, it does not go through QA, right? I know we are not supposed to put in disparaging remarks, but would "speak up" or "stop mumbling" be considered a disparaging remark? I am so tired of these docs who mumble and cannot be understood...how else will they know we can't hear/understand them if we can't tell them...all they see is the nice finished product not what we have to go through to get them that. ...
I am still a student, so I am still very naive about a few things involving this grand new venture. But, since I am almost done with my 4th module at Andrews and getting ready to tackle the certification exams, I have been doing a lot of research and reading about people obtainng their first coding jobs or something in HIM. I read one scenario where the employer was telling of how she narrows it down to 3 candidates. Of course, if one goes into an interview and seems as i ...
This is my first experience with this and it sucks!! In training, I had a lot of work and I was told to expect between 80 to 100 minutes a day. It was close to that the first week. Now it's going on the third week and I have hardly any work, don't when I will have work, email them asking about work, and no one responds. I turned down another job for this and I am Pis*%. Any advice appreciated. ...
Just finished a consult from one of my docs, and he's a little hoarse today, but not bad and at the end he says "and apologies to the transcription ladies. I know my voice is not necessarily the best for dictating today, and thanks for bearing with me."
It sure is nice when they acknowledge that there is actually a person on the other end who is listening to them. ...
Okay, so in my experience in trying to be compliant on making up time and "switching" swapping time when I had a funeral to attend. No problem picking up the times, but here is what happens. When I have had NJA or something happened which required a 30 min here or there I wanted to pick up and make up the hours. Well, in theory it would seem to be good; but in reality it ADDED hours to my schedule and kept my original 24 hours per week. This "swap" ...
or am i getting the feeling that after reading some of these posts that certain ones are "targeted" to have regular audits. have you done something in the past that puts on a "special" list that you are audited on a regular basis? I have worked for the Q was not audited before (that I know of). I have been audited twice now in the last couple of months and have passed, but did I do something to become a "chosen one?" hhhmmmmm ...
I don't see anyone talking about the test itself or working coders or coding students bringing it up, so I will. I went to school for coding, got certified and could not find a job. That aside, the A and P portion of my schooling was extremely intense. I have been an MT for 15 years and I had no idea how lacking my knowledge of A/P really was. I figured just because I was an MT, it would be easy. Boy was I wrong. I would encourage you not to take this test lightly.
BTW, I am part-tim ...
