Is there any truth to a no-hire black list? - Think I must be On It.

Posted: Mar 19, 2014

I have worked for 20+ years with two companies and had good reviews and made good money.  No problems with meeting production.  Left one of the big 2 companies last January after pay cuts, nothing nasty, I just kindly and sincerely expressed my opinion why I was leaving.  Since then I've applied with 3 or 4 other companies, was told by one I was on *do not hire list*, but was never given a reason why.

Is there something I can do here?  I'm a good employee and want to work.  My attendance and production are not in question, evidently just my opinion.  Any suggestions?

Yes there indeed is one - MT

I have been told by KS and TT I was on one because I went there and worked twice and after 2 times I left. Well, I guess they are right. Why would I try a 3rd time. I think I tried b/c I was desperate. Truly. If there is one shared between companies, that I do not know. This place that said you were on one, did you work there before that you can remember? The KS one I left at least 8 years ago so I did not even remember I tried them twice it was so long ago. TT I don't care about, I guess I thought they had changed. But keep trying. Good luck to you.

Hmm. Here's an idea about black lists: - Sometimes, I (jokingly) wonder if - smsg

there is actually only ONE medical transcription left in America. And because of anti-trust laws, they've gotten around it by giving different branches of the same company different "company names", to make it SEEM like there is more than one MTSO in America.

Of course, I'm just kidding, so nobody needs to flame me about conspiracy theories, or anything like that, but -- that would sure explain why all of these companies are so "alike", wouldn't it? ;D

You know I was just thinking that about Nuance and - IMEDX.

I do believe that they are one in the same.

I'm on TT's black list - sm

I scored 99% on an oncology test, but had difficulties with the actual account. After 2 weeks, i asked twice to be placed on another worktype...no response for 2 days so I struggled until I decided to quit without notice.

I applied maybe 2 years later and received an email stating I was not re-hireable.

I am positive there is one, also. I said something - sm

years ago about their being one and I was laughed at. Guess they aren't laughing now!!

Yes, there is a black list - Maggie

I know someone who was a witness against MQ in the line count lawsuit and she had nothing but grief after that. She was a darned good MT, too, and the sole support of her family.

That is so terrible that some companies have to be so selfish and spiteful and try to hurt someone rather than appreciate the years of loyalty the employee had given them. Instead, they should wish them well on their new endeavors and let them move on.

I can't imagine, though, that if... - N or M

put you on a "black list" that another MTSO would care since their reputations are well known.

Thanks for your comments. - Will Keep Trying. nm

Softscript told me I was on their do not hire list after I left giving them a 2-week notice and everything they required of me...I said something negative about them in MT Chat after I left and someone private messaged me and told me one of the supervisors was one of the administrators on that board..I think that is why

When I left my company, I was nice about it, - and honestly told them that I - smsg

had found a far better-paying job that started immediately, so I could only give them a few days' notice. I was told that was no problem, but that if I ever wanted to re-apply with that same company, I would have to give the customary two weeks' notice. But of course, I would rather slit my own throat than ever apply to that company again anyway, so I have no problem with being on their "do-not-hire" list.

Two Weeks Notice? - Cranky

[ In Reply To ..]
What ever happened to the "open door" policy all these MTSOs use? They certainly don't give us 2 weeks notice when they decide to sell the company and its employees down the river.

I honestly think ALL OF AMERICA is on the - *do not hire* list! ;)

[ In Reply To ..]
Our online job boards in this country are open to all to see. A company may be actively "hiring", but when so many American MTs, for various absurd reasons, are told they "don't qualify", then you know the answer to that one. They're only hiring people from other countries that apply to those same ads.

LOL maybe so and we just dont know it - GinaW

I wished we were back in the good ole days, where you put in an application Monday and you got called by more than one company in the next day or two. I really don't know what happened.

AAMT happened..... - lindalou

List Of Companies That Hire "true" IC?

Searching in vain for companies that hire IC status with no scheduled/required hours, only requiring a certain number of lines within a 12 hour or 24 hour period.  They seem hard to come by these days.  Really need that kind of flexibility.  Thank you, in advance, for your input  ...

Short Cut For List Punctuation In A Drug List? (Fluency)
Dec 06, 2014

Is there is quick way to add commas between items in a list? Of course, using Ctl K in front a word will change the punctuation, but it will also change a capitalized drug to lower case, and you will still have to get to the beginning of the next drug which will require 2 Ctl arrows and backspace. Ctl arrow takes you to the beginning of the next word, but you will have to backspace to put in the comma. Adding punctuation to lists is so time consuming! ...

TRUTH
May 07, 2010

After weeks and weeks of research, and reading tons of forums and reviews, speaking to advisors at on-line colleges, receiving multiple packets by mail, etc.....   I believe Career Step's medical coding program or AHIMA would be the BEST possible option for anyone trying to break into this field from home, learning at their own pace and the best affordability. Please does anyone here beg to differ?  I am looking for constructive criticism as well as any positives on these two o ...

I Really Need The Truth!
Apr 10, 2014

Hey Everyone!  I'm sure these questions have been asked a thousand times but I'm unsure of how to navigate this forum to find answers.  So here's the skinny. I'm a recent graduate of Cometology school and I'm having a very hard time finding employment due to my own poor timing.  We are military and my husband is due for orders in about 8 months.  So I've been looking into Medical Transcription and Editing with hopes that I would be able to take m ...

Why To Tell The Truth About Nuance
May 23, 2014

For those of us who have found ourselves as Nuance employees by virtue of company buyouts, hospital outsourcing, or something other than traditional methods of job hunting, we have all suffered a major life loss, loss of income, loss of security, loss of self-esteem, loss of pride in work, and on and on and on.  And, certainly in my case, representatives of Nuance told half-truths, made promises that could never be achieved, and decieved me, leading me into a miserable situation. There is ...

The Truth About The Swap Board
Apr 05, 2010

I used Schedule Source for about a year when they were testing it.  It's one of those "benefits" they keep talking about.  The problem is, if you swap you will be in somebody else's cesspool - getting unfamiliar accounts for which you have to read maybe multiple  CPs and get reports where you may have to leave QA markers and spend extra time researching.  It's also a mechanism for MTs to dump shifts where they know they will get a specific crummy account/dictat ...

THE TRUTH ABOUT KS TIME CLOCK AND OT
Oct 04, 2011

The truth is KS is being sued for not paying overtime.  KS does not have time records and that is why it is being implemented now.  I myself know overtime pay was not offered for anyone taking extra hours on my account.  I also have e-mails to that effect.  KS has not always paid overtime and if it was given it was to a select few or favorites.  At one time gift cards were being given in lieu of overtime on certain accounts, which does not make up for the overtime m ...

The Truth About Nuance Pay Rates.
Dec 12, 2011

The taped call has been released and while the information about the pay rate was not entirely inaccurate, it left out the rest of the story. Graduate/Radiology 0.0750/0.0375 (0.0425 on some platforms) Clinic 0.08/0.04 (0.0850/0.0450 on some platforms) Acute 0.0850/0.0413 (0.0875/0.0463 on some platforms) Incentive is based on QA/QC and production (tiered production and 99% which is what I was told when I was hired) but is biweekly instead of quarterly.    ...

I Have Realized The Truth Of The MT Industry Situation
Jun 06, 2015

I've been coming here for years. For many years it was only the poorly trained MTs who complained about not doing well. Anyone who had good training and good skills, sometimes learned on the job, which isn't practical now, but good skills at any rate, did well. The times have changed. While I used to categorize the complainers as neer-do-wells because they lacked ambition, accuracy, and training, that just isn't the case anymore. The employers have beat MTs down so that they can ...

Black Sponge Used In I&D
Jul 23, 2011

Anyone ever typed a black sponge in surgery?  I listened for "lap" and "lac" but I really hear "black."   Context:  "We took another rim of skin about a centimeter wider inferiorly until it bled well, as well.  This was controlled with electrocautery.  The area was then pulse-irrigated.  A medium size black sponge was placed over top of this.  The more tangential excision was covered with a wound VAC, sponge that had been tangentially shaven in half, and the entire area activated after ...

One can feel so beaten up and degraded.  So much to know and for so little pay.  Doc's get things to go faster and their pay is not cut.  Difficult dictators don't have to take a pay cut, yet we get a cut in production and a cut in QA if we don't understand them.    Are the  docs even aware of Account Specifics?  If transcription departments are not in-house any longer, who is making the picky rules?  If you cannot put qhs, then why doesn ...

For All Potential Candidates. Truth In Recruitment Advertising
Apr 01, 2015

Nuance is first and foremost a software company that depends upon poorly paid MTs to do the work of software engineers to perfect speech recognition software. By pretending to be a legitimate MTSO, they can recruit innocent MTs straight out of school who have no expectations of being self-sufficient any time soon. They use you, though, until the speech wreck is in passable condition for front-end EHR or shipment off to India. Once this occurs, usually 6 to 8 weeks after acquisition of the accoun ...

Email From Career Step (MT School): Truth Or Fiction?
