a couple hundred MTs in the next couple of months. Apparently, they got several MQ hospitals. Good for me, not so good for MQ.

Sounds like she's enjoying her cruel little game; all this begging her to tell must be really stroking her ego. She's only playing games or she would post the company name here, this IS an anonymous board and she's exposing her identity more to solicit/answer emails. Maybe she's just trying to get email addresses for another purpose, anyone consider that?

or maybe since she mentioned MQ, it is just to get people to quit there or something because she is - MT

This is obviously an MTSO or recruiter trying to find out if any of their currtent staff members are looking for a new job. Sneaky way to do it, but it is done more often than we know. Private e-mails are not good

Never thought about that. Too late, I fell for it and sure E-mailed the original poster. What a crappy way to do business, if that is indeed what happened.

I personally think the original poster got cold feet, thinking she had let too much information out and would be getting in hot water with the employer. Let's hope that is it and not a sneaky, snoopy MTSO trick.

Wow, there sure are a lot of conspiracy theorist's here. Do all posters get their kicked in the teeth for just trying to be helpful? There's no tricks, I just posted what I know about the company I work for. Some people emailed and I replied back to them. I didn't post the company because it would have looked like a job ad and I know that's not allowed here. One lady emailed said this site is venomous and to be careful. I guess she was right!

I have a friend who works in a hospital (cannot give name as others may not know yet) sm - what fate awaits them

and they are cutting back their transcription departments in every region. Those employees who currently work for them will have to reapply as they are only keeping a certain number, and those they do not keep have been told Medquist will hire them. This will take effect by March of this year. This may be what the original poster is speaking of.

Hi, I am new to the independent contractor thing, but shouldn't a company that has "hired" you as an independent contrator have your SS and a 1099 filled out by you? Just wondering as it seems to me this is necessary and since it is not being done, it makes me wonder about this company that much more, espcially since others have stated they have not been paid by this company. I guess if they are not planning on paying me they don't need a 1099 or SS# huh? ...

I just found out that even though I am doing the minimal required lines (120) I am not earning minimum wage and so even if I increase my lines I won't make any more money....Until I am typing over 160 lines. I am so angry. Now they are pressuring me to get higher lines so I can get out of them paying minimum wage. Which is insulting in itself. I am going to try to do it and then be a benefited employee. Just for the heck of it, I went to the resume section of this board, and noticed there were quite a few MTs with "entry-level or less than 5 year's experience" wanting to be compensated 10-15 cpl -- I really seriously doubt that is going to happen, especially for a "newer" MT. I would suggest that if you are really serious about finding a job in MT, then revise your expected compensation rate to something a bit more realistic. ...

I was looking for job openings at our local hospital and it's a long story but, found out that they have taken their transcription back in-house. Too many mistakes, not enough quality work, bad turn around times, et al. I am applying today, in person with them. I will offer to scrub their floors if that is what it takes to get back in to transcribing. I know folks who work there and they get a very fair wage, benefits and time off! ...
