I got the same phone call after 20 years. I knew it was coming eventually, but still a jolt to the system. Took a month off and then applied as a legal transcriptionist and got the job on the spot. I got hired at $15, which isn't a lot, but more than i was making with all the out of work. Told so many times how much they appreciate me and my work. Got a 1.25 raise in under 90 days. This isn't a brag, its just to let us old timers know there are companies out there who will appreciate you and treat you with some dignity.
