No we're not tech or IT, but we're in a similar situation, with the work being a service that is offshored remotely, without necessarily any buildings or facilities involved, or the need to transport and import a physical product. So, tech, IT, MT, would all require different strategies than manufacturing. If you look around the net, you'll find a high degree of dissatisfaction with offshored IT and freelance work such as writing and graphic design. Offshore competition has destroyed the once-flourishing freelance market; the underbidding is ridiculous, the work shoddy if it's done at all. Contractors and freelancers don't trust each other anymore. Check out what people are saying about sites like Elance. I've seen even Indian analysts advising it might be good to back off the outsourcing and actually invest in US companies. The reality seems to be setting in that you get what you pay for.
