The earned time is very good but it's very difficult to get time off to use it. If you request time off (and it's a formal written request) less than 30 days before, you find your own coverage, and it's not easy. They don't like to give time off on Monday or Friday or 2 days in a row even if you do get coverage. Somehow it's always "too busy." You won't be able to just take a day or two off because something came up in the next couple of weeks. And vacation requests are turned in in December for the next year, and are given out by seniority and pretty much written in stone, so no last minute changes because there's a family reunion or hubby has to change his vacation time. Same goes for days or hours you work, unless you want to go to 3rd shift and good luck switching back. They say they don't want to overhire or underhire but it makes for a very restrictive schedule. You are assigned 4 holidays and Thanksgiving Day and the day after are 2 separate holidays so you will be working one of those days, or find coverage. For some people these things could be a deal breaker and you need to be aware.
