Yes, if a person dies, often due to severe trauma or some end-stage disease, they end up with a death summary. (Of course, we all die, but not all of us die in the hospital and wind up with a death summary.) It seems from my experience that death summary is considered also a discharge summary work type, i.e. never seen a separate death summary work type. I think I had 3 death summary discharges the other day, which was unusual. I'm surprised the person who asked what's a death summary has never ever gotten one.
