Oh me, I wish I knew who decides which physicians to put on - wannie

VR and which ones not to.  I'm very rapidly beginning to remember why I wasn't particularly fond of VR.

At my company it's become a standard way of - increasing profits by lowering labor costs. NM

The MTSO's make a big thing about how the docs they put on have to have a certain percentage of accuracy. That's a bunch of hooey. They just throw them all on there. Sure, take a 500-bed hospital and put them all on at once.

At one company I worked for they put them all on and the MT - sent out a slip stating a reason, sm

or reasons for why they should not be on VR. That doesn't mean they took them off, but I suppose if there were enough complaints from people they would. Not sure though as they had the worst dictators on VR and I quit as I couldn't make any money trying to edit a bunch of foreign doctors with their heads up their bu##s.

I've seen VR pay as low as 2.5 cpl. Do companies actually think we'd be able to live on that? I now work at McDonald's and make $9/hour; sure beats $7/hour for VR plus I get free food. :)

Me too!!! - Anon

...I get frustrated when you get a dictator that is VR with one report and very next report you have to straight type for the same dictator. How does that get figured out?

What If MQ Decides To Make Us All Become MME's!
Jan 12, 2010

Didn't MQ make the CTL's become MME's?  If that happens to the MT's and you reject it, I assume you will be fired and if so, can you still collect unemployment?  What if you they point blank and say, you have to become an MME or you will have look elsewhere.  Can you somehow collect unemployment whether you quit or get fired or will you lose out unemployment benefits.  Basically, it is a no win situation for us MT's?  ...

Do The Physicians Know What We Do?
Mar 23, 2012

During all the eating, nose blowing, just sitting there and reading the chart, talking to the patient and office personnel, and accepting phone calls during their dictation, do they realize there is a person on that dictation line?  Do they even know what we do? I have a couple doctors who do this constantly!  It is not so bad if I am typing, but on VR all of this chatting and phone calling comes in on their dictation and has to be deleted constantly!!  Frustr ...

Physicians Doing EMR
Mar 23, 2014

I have noticed my regular doctor's office using EMR and it is used by the nurses more or less with the point/click stuff, not too much "major typing" but still aggravating that I have to sit there while they input their data.  BUT, I took my child to a specialist last week and the physician himself was using EMR and it wasn't such a user friendly point and click thing going on, he had to type SENTENCES at the time.  These sentences he was typing were achieved by him using his ...

QC Audits I Never Knew About
Oct 14, 2009

Okay, I may be the last one to know this, but I thought the only QC audits I was getting were the ones showing up on the DQM QA Feedback screen where it says (1 unread) or (how many ever unread). When you click on them, if the report has been audited by your QC, it will have a percentage score.  But that's just for the reports you sent in with a blank. To see the ones randomly selected and audited, you have to use the QA Feedback Search feature and put in a date range. For example, I j ...

I Knew It Would Happen
Nov 25, 2009

I knew that sooner or later one of these Indian ESLs would revert back into speaking in their own tongue.  I suspected that before but it was just their way of speaking English.  I couldn't believe it when this guy today, midsentence, started talking in his Indian dialect.  He laughed at himself, embarassed, then continued in English.  I didn't find it funny. ...

Physicians Choice, New MTs Pay Them?
Jan 11, 2010

I found a company called Physicians Choice Transcription Service (PCTSI) which says they take newbies but you pay them money weekly as a payroll deduction.  You start out paying them $100/week.  Does anyone know anything about this kind of service?  I've been looking for work for weeks and have seen several places want "start up costs" in the thousands, but never a place that takes $100 a week from your pay when you work for them. http://www.pcts1.com/Employment.htm Has it ...

Physicians And Billing
Feb 02, 2013

I see a lot of my clients as a patient. I have health insurance, which states that they accept a certain payment from that insurance as full payment. However, certain clients do balance billing, which is illegal. Balance billing is basically billing you personally for the amount over what they accepted as payment from that insurance company as an in-network physician. If this were not my client, I would refuse to pay; however, since they are my clients, I have no choice. How would they feel if ...

Interesting Statistics Regarding ESL Physicians
May 08, 2011

If you think you are getting more and more ESL dictators, you are probably right.  According to a public website, there were 2130 Visa petitions/applications and 748 Green Card petitions/applications for PHYSICIANS for the year 2010 alone.  That does not include all the ESL physicians that came into the United States over the previous years.  Yes, some applications were denied, but why do these hospitals feel they need that many foreign physicians to begin with.  If you are ...

Jun 26, 2012

I've been applying only to in house positions for hospitals and clinics.  I refuse to work for any more MTSOs.  The job ads that occasionally come up that are close enough to commute to are few and far between.  In the last 4 years I've applied to quite a few of them, 3 since January this year. It's always the same old story:  "The job is filled" is what I'm always told.  Even for those 3 that granted me in-person interviews this year, it's alw ...

I just need to vent…. I’ve been working part time as an IC for a hospital in the Midwest for about 10 months now. Why Bad EMRs Are Forced On Physicians By Edwin Leap, MD

I Never Knew "thru" Was A Word

ASR printed "thru" in a couple places where it really should have been through.  I always thought it was slang, but looked it up and apparently its a word but used very rarely and "considered out of place outside the most informal contexts."  Why oh why is ASR deciding to use it?  Is there an MT out there that ASR decided to become attached to or do the techs who program ASR really bored?  They should pick just a few of the best MTs for each BOB, those who all have similar st ...
