Review - MTC

Posted: Sep 16, 2010

I am a new MT who has only been in the business since March.  I still review every single one of my reports...I did stop listening to them again since I am comfortable with that part...My question is what is a normal amount of time to auctally stop going over the reports again?...I do understand sometimes that it is necessary to sometimes go back over them. Problem is work is picking up and I simply can not keep spending too much time going back over them, not to mention that it dips into pay...I will not make myself send something without going over it again. How can I get past that part? Any help/advice is appreciated...

I review my reports as they are dictated. When - sm

the dictator pauses, go over what you have just typed. Also when I am finished with a report, I "arrow" up through the report taking a quick glance. Just watch what you are doing while transcribing, slow down a bit if you have to. As you get more and more experience, you will feel more and more confident. Also, when you spellcheck at the end, look over the phrases in front and after when the spellchecker catches something, also do a grammar check along with the spellcheck. That catches a lot of things. Don't be discouraged, the more you do the more confident you will become.

Sometimes, we can get into bad habits, and I was wondering about your thoughts on the sentence below regarding comma usage (I tend to overuse commas) "I advised a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet, and, for your information, your body mass index today is 40.2, which, by definition, places you into the obese range."   ...

NEW Review Time
Feb 26, 2015

I hope everyone had a great week last week, because your compensation for the week of 3/6 is now going to be dependent upon that compensation rate.  "Great news," they're going to allow a long time for OUR review process, so in order to implement it, they're going to use the 2/14 - 2/20 pay period for the compensation rate two weeks from now as part of the implementation.   That means, if you transcribe 10,000 lines and even if you get 100%, which should be 1,255.00, if ...

Coding Exam Review Guides
Jun 07, 2010

I'm planning to take either the CCS or the CPC when I finish my coding program (probably in 5-6 months).  I've been thinking about getting one of the exam review guides (of which there seem to be lots of different ones) but they are pretty expensive, especially the current year.  I've seen some on Ebay and Amazon that are for previous years and they are usually a little less expensive.  I know some codes do change from year to year but I really wonder if the exam gu ...

Proof Docs Don't Review Before Signing
Sep 26, 2011

Just typed a letter to a peer review committee regarding a discrepancy in an operative report and a discharge summary.  The doctor gave the explanation that it was simply a typographical error either from his mumbling or unclear dictation, and that the dx listed in the discharge summary did not make sense and he would not dictate that. Yes, he actually admitted it could have been from his mumbling.  But, why didn't he catch that incorrect diagnosis when he signed the discharge sum ...

American Health Connection Review
Apr 03, 2013

American Health Connection has posted for staff/agent jobs on MTDaily and MT Stars.  They are very pleasant people with whom to work for sure.  The trend these days is to outsource hospital patient registration and companies such as this are taking off big time.  Having started training with them, I have had nothing but trouble...at first I was told my bandwidth was fine, only to learn that I needed 40-50 download speed and at least 10 upload speed.  Had to switch to a new provider, however, ...
