Okay. Finished report that original MT was in India. Went to 2 different QA editors, nothing corrected. Came to me. I made over 50 corrections. If this is any indication of their work, our jobs are safe. Ridiculous and diiscouraging at the same time.

We get paid 4 cpl for full review and 3 cpl for filling in blanks on 100% of the lines that they typed. We do not get credit for anything extra we type. For instance if the ILP typed 1 line and left a blank, and the MME typed 10 lines to fill in that blank, the MME would only get credit for 1 line. I keep strict track of my lines and pay, so I know this for sure.

The OP is correct on the horrendous ILP work though. I was at AHDI and someone asked the Nuance rep if the ILPs get held to the same standard as us, and she said absolutely and that the only errors they make are inconsequential American specific/slang type words and that their medical terms are fine. Then Shaw completely agreed. I wore nose plugs because the BS was really starting to stink in that room.

Most, and more and more, ILP work is going straight to the chart. IMO, 100% of ILP work should go through QA. I have seen the work that goes to straight to the chart when I worked in house. Any doctor who signs those reports should be ashamed.

I have seen ads for Indian companies whose selling point is 100% of the transcription goes through USA editing. They must be paying USA editors a pittance to keep their prices cheap.

I had one the other day that came to me with 5 QA markers, but the transcription was so bad, I couldn't even find my place. The words before and after the blanks were incorrect, with missing words. Come to find out, each blank contained, literally, paragraphs of dictation that were not transcribed. After all was said and done, there were 79 QA corrections, wrong words and missing words/phrases. Not to mention, the paragraphs that were missing counted as 1 QA marker!! I was furious!! It took me over an hour to complete it, as it was an over 2000 second report, but only had 4-5 paragraphs transcribed. There was absolutely NO WAY any of the other 2 QA people there even listened to it, as the missing dictation was not difficult.

I think that's their new ploy, get a long report, transcribe a little, put in a QA marker here and there, instead of spending the time transcribing, and then send it on - getting their pay for transcribing it. There is no other explanation for how it was handled.

absolutely absurd! We would never get away with this type of work. I think it is for this reason I chose not to test up to MME a few months ago when it was "encouraged". It might bite me down the road and I'll get laid off, not being able to "do it all" but this would have driven me crazy to have a report like this. (I also think I would have deleted it all and just transcribed it; probably would have been less frustrating.

I'm just sayin....as a radiology MT in this company for 14 years...we have always sent radiology reports straight through to the docs to review and sign (because of turnaround time)....never knew they did QA until I got new accounts 2 years ago....and have had some pretty bad foreigners. I believe it is docs job to go over his reports anyway...he is legally responsible.. ...

Just wondering about the sending of blanks. I had a few blanks due to inaudible dictation. I know QA wouldn't be able to get it either, but when I uploaded the job the QA box was checked and I tried to uncheck it and it wouldn't let me. Are they kidding? Who is going to be sending ANYTHING to QA and take a chance of having their pay cut? Especially if it's the beginning of the work week! Yes, the clients will be getting blanks and I know they will be complaining. The Q keeps sending us e-mails telling us to cut down on QA submissions. Are they kidding? I feel that I flag a lot and send to QA a lot. I've been at this for about a year, do acute care, lots of ESL etc so I think it's a reasonably difficult account; but I ask myself do really experienced MTs, e.g. those at this for 5 years or 10 years or more, send so many jobs over to QA? Okay, I got a ding today from my extremely sweet and helpful QATL. It seems I did not send as a cc a requesting physician dictated. I looked at the report and I did enter the requesting physician in the ADT and the body of the report. I thought if they did not specifically request a cc be sent, then you did not. Am I wrong? Old dog needs help. Also, I thought if the Req Physician was in the ADT it automatically received a carbon copy.. Hmmm.. ...
