Time to leave M*Modal - Darlie

I started working for Edix and over the years M*Modal is now the owner.  After 14 years it is time to leave.  My accounts that I enjoyed have been lost (either global or to Nuance as we were told when we lost our last account where that one went to).   I have had little to no work.  I have had to use ALL OF MY PTO TIME due to no work and I was told that is the policy, you have to use PTO time when there is no work.   Our pay has been cut to 4.4 cents per line effective next month, everyone is equal and everyone gets 120 hours per year of PTO time so the employees who have been with the company for years have lost some PTO time.  The part time employees no longer get benefits including PTO, they are getting rid of part time employees due to not enough work for the full time employees.   I would make more working in a fast food restaurant than working in healthcare documentation.  Even our local grocery store pays more working as a cashier.   What I earned working full time 14 years ago is more than I make working today.

The pay cut is effective October 13th. Transcription rate $0.09 cut to $0.08. Speech recognition rate $0.55 cut to $0.48.

They haven't gotten to all employees yet, especially if you are from one of the buyouts or on a platform other than Fluency. Others had already been cut to 8/4 for a couple years before they got to my subset of MTs. Add to that, I had my hours cut by 4 hours when the changed the PT parameters and they took away PTO.

Amy may not have not thought of ways to cut MT costs, but Shaw has done a bang up job. I see a 6- figure bonus in his future.

That's the brutally honest truth. One just as bad as the other, except if someone happens to get a great team leader or luck out into a good account and can keep it.

In Ultipro, hover your mouse over "Myself" in the top left-hand corner. It will bring up a drop-down list. Click on Compensation which is listed under the Jobs section about halfway down the 1st column. You'll see different statistics. The "piece rate" is your straight transcription rate. The "Other Rate 1" is your ASR rate. "Other Rate 3" is your benefit rate. I have no clue what the Other Rate 2 and Other Rate 4 are. Hope this helps! :-)

Radiology reports are going to be paid at a line rate now, not a report rate. That is the compensation change to 0.08 and 0.048 cents. It doesn't say anything about MTs pay being cut, other than the change to Radiology MTs.

I quit in July and took early retirement. I also worked for Edix back in the day. I have done this work for 13 years and when I left I made less than I did 13 years ago as a newby. I work part time, 24 hours, in our local Shaws grocery store as a Customer Service Rep/cashier/self scan/office and make more in 24 hours than I did with 40 hours with MMOdal. As I read the posts on this board it makes me more and more grateful that I left when I did. I hope you find a new job with much less stress and certainly better pay. Good luck.

I received an email about PTO being taken away from PTers and changes to PT hours, but nothing about a pay cut. My pay was cut about a year ago. I am working myself into the ground for this company (stupid) with nothing at all in return except a pitiful paycheck and if I get another pay cut, I will give them what they give me. I am no longer worried about this job and actually hoping to be let go soon. There are jobs out there that are less stressful with the same pay. I will admit I am just being lazy right now about finding something else, but this job no longer means anything to me.

I worked for Edix and came out of the MTEC program. Was an instructor for 2 sessions....St. Albans and South Burlington. I was forced to "jump ship" a couple years back when my pay kept getting cut and my main account (the only way I was making anything at all cuz I knew it so well) disappeared one morning. Through research I found out it went to EPIC, a platform with no human input!!! I miss being an MT, but pretty sure I'd be homeless if I'd try to stay. I had gone to PT so I could work more hours with another employer, and when I was offered FT I HAD to move on! Thinking I made the right decision. Okay, I work very, very heavy hours, pushing 2000 to 3000 lines per day. I need more than 8 hours, and 40 hour weeks. How do I get around M*M on this? Do we actually clock in and out? I thought they were 2 different services.  Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows.  All the small companies have been merged I guess.  I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR.  Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

I just had a chance to see the NextGen EHR demo videos.  The incentives for using EHR from the insurances companies are huge.  It amounts to $3,000 per doctor per month.
