M*Modal Time Clock - Lisa

Posted: May 21, 2012

Okay, I work very, very heavy hours, pushing 2000 to 3000 lines per day. I need more than 8 hours, and 40 hour weeks. How do I get around M*M on this? Do we actually clock in and out? I know they need to cover themselves legally, but I don't want 8 hour days, more like 10 to 12 hour days, 6 days a week. Any thoughts on this plan?

get a second job - dont punch in extra unless OT is approved

If you work those hours without permission, you will probably be fired and then have no job.

Punching the clock - Lisa

I am transitioning to MQ with a unique situation, so I have to be vague. But, is there any form of monitoring time that I watch for or am committed to. I assume MQ just says, "wow, 2000 lines, I must tell them quit working over 8 hours", just based on an assumption or is there a device to know that.

not sure about actual monitoring, but - msmt

[ In Reply To ..]
they can see the times you are clocked in and the times that you sign off reports that would not coincide with your shift and clock in hours.
But, if client is not M*M friendly - Lisa

If the account I work on, which has been acquired by MM, does not use MM electronic model, how will that work? Just because MM acquires a company, and in tern acquire hospitals, clinics, etc., that does not mean any of those hospitals, clinics, etc. have to change for MM. They may go it the same way? How will MM deal with small clinics who had no choice when access to their docs was given to another transcription company?
You are an employee of M*M, not your previous - msmt

employer any longer. You will have to do as M*M does, not as you previously did.

I'm not sure but if they find out you WILL be fired - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Working off the clock is ILLEGAL for the company and violation of US Labor Laws so discovery of an employee working without clocking in would result in immediate termination. That type of thing is taken verrrrry seriously especially now with the filing of a lawsuit against Transcend for this very thing.
Yep because if you are working more than 8 - they have to pay you
[ In Reply To ..]
OT.

You will have a strict schedule to adhere to - with a time clock internal and external

[ In Reply To ..]
Mmodal/MQ has a time clock and their program also monitors your time. It also monitors keystrokes and inactive time, but you will soon find that out.

You are required to work your specific schedule, not whenever you feel like it. You are not allowed to stop once you get a "so-called" line count in. You have to work the schedule.

Nope, you type as much as you can in a 40-hour week - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
And 2000-3000 lines a day? That will be a thing of the past. If you get HALF that in an 8-hour day it will be a good day. My CCM says in our region, the average for her "best producers" is around 1200 lines a day. I typically do 1600 a day and I'm considered one of the top producers of my region.

geez - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I guess by me doing 1600 to 1900 in an 8 hour day, that I am also considered a TOP PRODUCER. I never knew. Guess there is no reward for that, huh?

Sure there is ... you get to claim the title "top producer", LOL - MME

[ In Reply To ..]
And as you know with MModal, it's *alllll about* having the nifty title, without the reward. That is, unless you're the CEO.
just great... Jane Doe, MT/ME, EB (Elite Bouncer), TP (Top Producer) - always wanted TP in my title
[ In Reply To ..]
:)
OMG, you're an elite bouncer too? I'm literally laughing - out loud here
[ In Reply To ..]
That's right ... I remember there were a bunch of us "Elites" here. Are you the same poster who is doing 1600-1900 lines a day? How the heck are you doing that as an EB?!
shhhh - I will tell ya my secret

Make your own CPs!

:) Just Kidding! Happy MT Week!
HAHA, good one! I knew there had to be a trick! - card-carrying MME/MT/EB/TP

Happy MT week to you too, and happy bouncing! Heehee

VR or straight typing? - TiredMT

[ In Reply To ..]
The "best producers" that you mention, is that 1200 VR or straight typing? And do you do 1600 a day VR or straight typing?

Oh my gosh, I wish. No ... 95% VR and 5% straight typing - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I may only do a couple hundred (200-300?) lines of straight typing in a 2-week period, so the majority of my work is VR. I barely have any typing anymore.

Same is true for the majority of my region - it's almost all VR work.
Same here - TiredMT
[ In Reply To ..]
I am new at M*Modal, been here a few weeks, and just got trained on VR last week. Since then, all I'm getting is VR. I get maybe 1 or 2 straight typing jobs per day.

I was just wondering about the 1200 and 1600 because if that is VR I don't know how anyone can survive on that kind of money :(
I can't ... I'm only earning minimum wage - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
Between my MME (QA) rate of 0.03 cents a line and my VR work at 0.5 cents a line, I'm barely earning minimum wage. I'm a single mom trying to support myself and my son and just recently applied for food stamps. Based on what I earn, they approved me for the maximum amount. Nobody can figure out how I'm getting by. Some months, I barely do.

Funny how a person can be a "top producer" for their region, get tons of accolades from their CCM and still be on food stamps and barely paying their bills.

Sorry you're going through it too ... I've wondered how those who come from straight typing jobs manage ... it has to be a really tough adjustment.
Same boat - TiredMT
[ In Reply To ..]
I am in a similar situation, single mom of 2 kids. I get 4 cpl for VR. It is really sad what transcription has come to. I have been doing this a long time and have had many of my own accounts, most of which I lost to EMR last year. So this really is a big adjustment for me. I am not able to get by on what I am making. Right now I'm on training pay, $10 an hour, but I'm scared when I get off of that I will be making even less.

My heart goes out to you and I hope we can all find some way to survive all of this.
Ohhhh, mine goes out to you too ... - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm so sorry ... I know *exactly* how you must be feeling right now. It can be really scary. You must be really good at this in order to have had your accounts and I'm sure you were comfortable supporting yourself and your kids. It's probably been really hard to get by even on the training pay. :(

The best advice I can give you is to be sure to get help if you need it ... apply for governmental help or Food Stamps if you need to. I was reeeeally stubborn (Oh I can support myself, I got this) and waited waaaaay too long to apply for help. Not worrying about feeding my son anymore is HUGE. I still really struggle to pay my rent and utilities every month but at least I have healthy food for him to eat instead of the Ramen I used to buy. It's just the 2 of us and thanks to my minimum wage earnings I get the maximum Food Stamp allowance of $362 a month. Seriously ... it helps and I'm so grateful for every little bit.

I wish I could say your income with MM will sustain you after your training period but I work my fingers to the bone (as a "top producer", LOL) and it just doesn't. It's really hard to make it on what we're earning as the sole provider. Definitely make the most of the training pay ... and try and keep the faith. (big hug)
Undecided - TiredMT
[ In Reply To ..]
Yep, I may have to take your advice on the Food Stamps. I am blessed enough that I live with my mom right now and she works as well, but she is also an MT, so she is in exactly the same boat. We are barely making it. Plus, I really want to be able to support myself and move out on my own with my kids, but I wouldn't be able to sustain that as of right now.

I'm still on the training pay, but I calculated as if I were not and today I made a whopping $43 with M*M. I'm getting concerned. Not sure if I am going to stick around and see if this gets better (probably delusional) or try and find something else. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. You seem like a very sweet person. Such a sad, sad shame what this career is doing to us all.

Yeah I used to do 1600-1800 straight typing, - then dropped to 1200-1300

[ In Reply To ..]
with VR and was told by CCM I was a "top producer" and wanted me to give TIPS on how to do it. I was like "really?" What in the world does everyone else produce? Big producers are apparently pretty rare now.

It is also unfair to take work from those who are scheduled. - SBH

[ In Reply To ..]
From what I understand we are supposed to work our schedules, because the work is supposed to be spread out to amply fill our shifts. If you work on my accounts during my shift unscheduled, you could be taking work away from me.

I was thinking that also. - msmt

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't like to take away from others that are scheduled because I don't like it done to me. I have a part-time second job that makes up for not being able to work anytime on M*M. I make really well on the part-time job but no medical benefits or PTO, so I have to keep my fulltime M*M job for those things.

Time Clock For M-modal ... Info Please

Hi, I worked for MQ before, and remember how their time clock functioned. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me.    ...

Overtime Because Of The Time Clock Time Zone Change?
Feb 06, 2011

It has been inconvenient, and maybe a bit confusing at times, to check my time card hours for my shift as, because of my time zone, part of my hours show up on the next day because I work 2nd shift. I wonder if I will get overtime for yesterday, even though I did not work overtime. I had to start work several hours early because of maintenance, so all hours were completed before the hour my hours start showing up on the next day. Fine. But the last couple hours of yesterday show up as today, ...

Re Time Clock, Lph, And Time Worked.
May 18, 2012

My company was honest and upfront when we started using ChartNet.  They told us that once you enter a report for VR, the time clock does not actually start for 60 seconds.  Soooo.... this means if I did 30 reports, I add 30 minutes on my time sheet, right?  Nothing was said about this for straight typing on ChartNet.  We do both.  Does anyone know if the time works the same on VR and straight typing for ChartNet?  I have tried researching it, but I can't find a ...

Time Clock
May 22, 2012

The requirement for ICs to use a time clock is apparently to protect the service from being sued for unpaid labor, right? If you sign in honestly, i.e. whenever you are doing anything for this job with the service, tech tweaking, software installation, training, spreadsheets, research, phone calls, etc., etc., etc., it would put you into overtime and you are fired, right? I'm just curious if anyone is given written instructions to sign in ONLY when your fingers will be pounding the ke ...

RE: Is There A Company Without A Time Clock
May 27, 2011

Lest any of you would like to continue debating whether the "activity" mentioned is legal versus illegal.  Transcend paid out MANY thousands for violating the laws you all are talking about and did so around 2006-2007 as did Softscript pay out many thousands MORE around the same time and there are no doubt more violations. I do not encourage you to continue being side tracked by the conflicting posts on this board but am quite confident you all will be.  ...

KEYSTROKES TIME CLOCK
Oct 03, 2011

It is my understanding from an attorney that if we are required to sit and wait for the work that is considered time worked.  Keystrokes wants us to keep track of ONLY the time spent typing, any time spent NOT typing is NOT considered as time working according to them.  You would have to rack up a lot of time just typing to get in those 40 hours in order to get paid overtime.  By the way I have never been paid overtime even after 40 hours and when asked if I would receive it the anwer was ...

THE TRUTH ABOUT KS TIME CLOCK AND OT
Oct 04, 2011

The truth is KS is being sued for not paying overtime.  KS does not have time records and that is why it is being implemented now.  I myself know overtime pay was not offered for anyone taking extra hours on my account.  I also have e-mails to that effect.  KS has not always paid overtime and if it was given it was to a select few or favorites.  At one time gift cards were being given in lieu of overtime on certain accounts, which does not make up for the overtime m ...

Time Clock Hours Off
May 28, 2013

Ok, I am wondering something.  I work about 10 hours a day because I have back problems so I get up and walk around the house, then back to work.  I'm not talking an hour walk around the house, I'm talking maybe 10 minutes tops.  So in that 10 hours a day I get maybe 25 hours showing on webclock for the week.  I've tried sitting longer and longer periods still at the end of the week I'm showing less hours, though my line count is 6000 and above.  Is t ...

Why Do Companies Use A Time Clock? (sm)

How Many Employees Make Under Minimum Wage & Use A Time Clock?

I recently started working for a new MTSO and am employee-status for the first time.  We use a time clock.  My LPH is half what it should be due to the volume of horrid dictators.
