Changing a VR job to straight transcription - Just hit F11?

Posted: Jun 11, 2013

Sorry to bother everyone, but knew I could get an answer here.  You have a job that comes to you as VR, can someone tell me exactly what you do to change it to straight transcription?  I thought I remembered if being F11 so I did that and it said it was going to delete the text. I said okay and transcribed job.  Do I need to do anything other than that?  It never showed up in my transcription line count for the day but it is showing up as VR line count and I wondered if I did something wrong.  I alerted my TSM, but as usual, no response other than the read receipt.  So wondered if I did the process incorrectly. Just wanted to know in case there was a next time -- this was the first time I did this!

THANK YOU AGAIN ALL FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT!  it is appreciated.

Yes, it's F11. Interestingly.... - sm

the same thing happened to me once where I used F11 and the lines showed up as VR. I'm still not sure why that was as I was not given an answer. I'm told by my sup that they are "closely monitoring" the use of F11 and that we really shouldn't be using it at all. I know at one time we were supposed to put in a Remedy ticket to document F11 usage, but I think we recently got an email saying that we no longer needed to do that. I'm not clear on that though.

Hmmmmmm - Plot thickens

Appreciate the response. This is the first time I have ever used it and the VR didn't even come close to what the dictator was saying and to add insult to injury it was a bunch (as in 20+) small reports rather than 1 big report and the dictator was awful. I was in tears -- so that's why it is so "near and not dear" to my heart! ;o) I want to make sure I do not repeat that mistake EVER!

ASR is always ASR rate unfortunately - JustMe

[ In Reply To ..]
My understanding is that once a rpt is keyed in as ASR you will only get paid your ASR rate whether you delete the misheard words one at a time, paragraph at a time, or the whole report with F11. I believe they said they are watching when F11 is used as ASR cannot learn when that is used. I don't believe we have to fill out a Remedy ticket now but I personally would notify my TSM for CYA purposes.

You still get credit - Very old issue

This has been brought up a few times ever since ASR came to be at this company. What shows in your stats has nothing to do what how you are paid. It will always show as ASR whether you push F11 or not, but it will still count on your pay as straight transcribed if you did F11.

I'm not sure what you mean - JustMe

[ In Reply To ..]
I keep track of my stats every day and my paycheck is always within a few dollars of what I've calculated based on my stats so I'm not sure what you mean by saying what shows in your stats has nothing to do with how you're paid. Please explain. Thank you.

Just a question? - not an MM MT

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't work for MM, but I do follow the board, as I think it is a precursor for the future of other companies, unfortunately. I think I work for Nuance now, but really am not sure at this point. Anywhooo...why would you just not F11 all of your reports? If they sucked, I would be F11-ing all of them that needed it. I did editing for a short while and hated it and could not make any money.

I think if you do too many F11 reports u get - disciplinary action. NM

truth of the matter - anon

truth of the matter; I suppose if someone wanted to, they could delete all the text without using F11 and then transcribe the report themselves. I have thought of that at times. I know there is a key command that does delete a lot of the text; just can't remember it right now, but have accidentally done it a few times and then had to use the key command that brings the text back.
I do that sometimes - depends

There are times when the ASR is particularly bad, if I have to make more than 1 or 2 changes a line, I will delete a lot of the text and type it because it's faster. It's all about the line count and speed. If it takes me too long to edit it, then I will type it. No F11 for me. I'm here to make money and if it slows me down, boom, it's gone.

I used - to

F11 all the time when on DocQscribe, but not on that program anymore. Unfortunately the program I'm on has no F11 or similar. If it did, I would be using it.

Changing Transcription
Jan 18, 2010

I recently discovered that another employee has been making changes to transcription that carries my initials along side the doctor's initials, which indicates me as the transcriptionist. I feel that this is not only inappropriate, but possibly also illegal. Is it illegal for someone to change transcription done by someone else without their knowledge and/or permission? Can I be held responsible for her changes within my reports? I do have copies of my original transcripti ...

Increased ASR, Less Straight Transcription??
Oct 24, 2010

Anybody notice increased ASR in the last week or 2, with less straight typing.  Just when I thought I had already hit the lowest I possibly could, they do this.  I was at least getting between 100-300 transcription lines before, now all the sudden lucky to get any.  My pay has already been deposited in the bank, down another $100 from before.  What do they want next, blood? ...

VR Versus Straight Transcription
Apr 28, 2011

With my company I get about 80% editing and 20% straight transcription, about half as much per line editing as for transcription, of course.  Personally, I'd rather transcribe a difficult dictator than edit most anyone.  My pet peeve is when a difficult dictator's reports (which used to be transcribed) gets changed to editing status, and it takes just as long to fix the VR document but now at about half as much pay. ...

Straight Transcription Counted As ASR
Nov 25, 2013

Noticed today that my one and only transcription report, was counted as an ASR job. What? I debated what to do, because it was a short dictation, after all. But, no I can't allow that. IC For 7 Cents A Line For Straight Transcription....sm

What Is The Going Rate In The Midwest For Straight Transcription And For VR?
Oct 25, 2012

I submitted my resume for an IC position and received an email requesting that I submit a proposal of what I expected to make per line for straight transcription and for VR.  With 20 years as an MT, I felt that my proposal was pretty fair.  I said 8.5 cpl for straight transcription and 5 cpl for VR. I received an email from the company telling me that generally thye pay their ICs 7 cpl for straight typing and 3 cpl for VR and asked me to consider lowering my quote.  I was fl ...

Potential To Switch From Straight Transcription To SR?
May 15, 2013

Hi - I have been doing acute care work for this client as an IC for almost two years. While I enjoy the work, I know it is probably in my best interest to start doing some SR work as well. The company I work for just asked their ICs if anyone is interested in learning the SR platform for some new SR work that is coming onboard. I am currently only making .07 cpl! I know that SR line rates are generally lower since the "assumption" is you can go a bit faster, can anyone give me a fair id ...

Straight Transcription, Opinions Wanted
Sep 25, 2013

I would like to know others' opinions on the state of "straight transcription"...is there any kind of future for it, or will the few jobs remaining gradually fade out? I know it all depends on the individual account, but I am speaking in general terms, and what will be the ultimate impact from EMR? ...

What Determines Which Reports Are SR And Which Are Straight Transcription?
Jan 16, 2014

I'm just curious how the clients and/or MTSO's determine this.  You'd think it would be the best dictators use SR, but we have one that is such a horrid dictator it is faster to just transcribe.   There are also some excellent dictators that come through for transcription rather than SR.  Is this a decision the doctors can usually make? ...

CHANGING JOBS/CHANGING EMPLOYEES

I have been applying and studying the "online transcription world" for about 2 months, so I realize I have am a neophyte. BUT-it seems to me that what is happening here is a huge waste of time and money. If the companies paid enough, ACTUALLY had work when they hire, were able to ACTUALLY pay the employees at all,  and treated employees well, then the transcriptionists wouldn't go looking for another job and leave.  THEN the companies wouldn't have to maintain recruiters, pos ...
