After 20 years of service - M*Modal notified me today that I am not longer needed.  Since M*Modal took over, it has been a nightmare!!  After taking a paycut when Editing came on board and then being told that we would NEVER be getting raises ( - who tells their employees that????), GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!  They terminate US employees and keep all their offshore employees for lower salaries!  I was up to nearly $20.00 an hour, and then got bumped down to $13.00.  After the initial shock, now all I can think is HAPPY DAY!!!!!!  So, I am off to find another place of employment and let them have all my experience.  M*Modal can have the inexperienced newbies doing in 3 hours what I can do in 1 (without QA markers and mistakes), and then figure out how they made a bad decision (do the math M*Modal).

getting for routing the work to India and the Philippine's! Our own govt PAYS them to send the work overseas, so why wouldn't they? They do not have to pay for experience, plus they get a tax cut when they do... follow the money trail. ugh... disgusting!

Well, M*Modal placed another phone call today. Just making my coffee getting ready for my day and the phone rings with M*Modal on caller ID. I answered it and within a minute my life changed. I worked for them for over 15 years, high line count, very little feedback, and they get rid of me. It is going on 14 hours and still waiting for HR to return my call. M*Modal is a joke!!

Yep! Got the same call this morning while working!! Been with the company for over 14 years and never had quality concerns, always worked my scheduled hours, higher than average for my BOB and company line count but in less than a minute, I am gone! I knew things weren't looking good with this company, but was utterly shocked by the call! I read earlier today some of the perks they advertise in India and they are things such as free insurance for the entire family, including their parents up to age 80, free transportation, monthly bonuses, etc! I will check out that article! I thought it was very weird when we would run out of work we were told to call India to assign work to us. Just doesn't sound like the American thing to do. Funny how my supervisor left my region and went to work for the international region.

You are right. I can do twice as much in the time a newbie takes, and no mistakes. Not bragging, just have been doing this so long! Just wait until the hospitals start complaining or the turn around time is not what they expect. The good MTs are getting screwed. What goes around comes around is my motto!!

Has anyone ventured towards anything like this?  I feel VERY strongly that I was wrongly terminated, but I really do NOT want to work for the company anyway, but with no income, I am not sure what to do.  I do not like the fact of them getting away with what they have done either... My QA score has always run about 12% (SS requires 8% or less to QA) since i started. My trainer told me I had a very difficult account and not to worry. GRRRRR!!!! People are being terminated without warning at M Modal, according to the board here.  People are being picked on at Nuance even more than usual by QC and supervisors.  These are the 2 biggest employers in the industry.  Why this now?  And most people only make minimum wage.  There can't be such a big economic reason for firing people who are paid so low with this kind of technical skill.  What is going on here... and why... thinking aloud, but ideas would be ap ...

I thought they were 2 different services.  Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows.  All the small companies have been merged I guess.  I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR.  Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...
