We just got an e-mail from our CCM warning us about sticking to our schedules, logging in on time and working our full shifts.  What was interesting, and that I didn't know, is that if we miss 2 consecutive days without notifying our CCM, it's considered "voluntary termination."

Who on earth, at any job, could miss even 1 day without notifying their boss as to why without being terminated???

I wonder if you get unemployment with voluntary termination or they just consider it abandonment. I wonder if MQ would terminate you for being in the hospital and unable to work. Apparently so. How dare you have emergency surgery or a car accident!! Guess we better make sure we have lap tops and access to WI-FI so we can work from the hospital bed. Apparently we need to call the CCM before we call 9-1-1 or other family members because MQ comes first.

Do you honestly think there is ANY job where you could not show up for two days and NOT be held responsible? As for being sick, or having emergency surgery, or car accident, I am sure there is someone in your family and/or friend circle that would be more than glad to contact your employer if such were to happen. Be realistic! This is a company providing work for hospitals who have sick patients lying in beds waiting for reports to be transcribed. Those reports need to be on the chart in a timely fashion. Schedule compliance is not that big of a deal....just because you work at home doesn't mean that your schedule should be a free for all....

It said if you miss 2 shifts then consider yourself voluntarily terminated. So fine, 2 days without internet access or phone lines (happens during these big storms) and you are done.

I did end up in the hospital about a year ago with a nasty case of vertigo and believe me contacting my CCM so I could keep my job was not a priority. Neither was trying to track down phone numbers or an email. I figured if MQ wanted to fire me over getting sick then so be it.

I am sure the email was hinting towards those people who do not work their shifts, jump on whenever they want or abuse the system, but it didn't say that. However, MQ actually has to be serious about terminating those people too before I take any email regarding voluntary termination seriously.

If you are hit by a bus and cannot get to a phone, have a friend or family member call... It would be like that on ANY JOB!

If you were in the hospital unconscious, then I'm sure they'd understand that situation & that they mean people who just don't bother working when they're supposed to, which honestly baffles me why anyone would do that in the first place!

Has anyone ventured towards anything like this?  I feel VERY strongly that I was wrongly terminated, but I really do NOT want to work for the company anyway, but with no income, I am not sure what to do.  I do not like the fact of them getting away with what they have done either... My QA score has always run about 12% (SS requires 8% or less to QA) since i started. My trainer told me I had a very difficult account and not to worry. GRRRRR!!!! People are being terminated without warning at M Modal, according to the board here.  People are being picked on at Nuance even more than usual by QC and supervisors.  These are the 2 biggest employers in the industry.  Why this now?  And most people only make minimum wage.  There can't be such a big economic reason for firing people who are paid so low with this kind of technical skill.  What is going on here... and why... thinking aloud, but ideas would be ap ...
