offered a position with SoftScript - NYMT

Posted: Sep 27, 2012

Just got offered a position with SoftScript.   Any advice?  I have to decide by tomorrow.

I worked with them shortly out of school. Things weren't too bad at first but QA got worse as time went on. What finally sent up the red flag was a blanket email to all employees belittling one of the MTs publicly. Said my goodbye shortly thereafter. Whether this MT deserved it or not, I don't think this was handled very professionally at all.

If you like running out of work constantly, threatening e-mails to make up work on the weekends when you have sat there all week with no work, go for it. If you think I am a disgruntled employee bad mouthing them, read the archives and find I am not the only one and I left only after a few months.

If you do not need a reliable source of income, SoftScript is the place for you. nm - SS no more

I have not had a problem with lack of work. When I did run out, I let the account manager know and she had me a new account within 10 minutes of telling her. I have had no problems there.

My SS Experience - nn

I spoke with the recruiter, whom I felt to be extremely rude and condescending, especially with her line of questioning regarding "how I felt about the BOS." I told her quite frankly, that I was not a fan, but would adhere to it if necessary. I have over 30 years of experience as an MT, and that was one of the strangest interviews I had ever encountered and the next day, I got the "thanks, but no thanks" email from her. I just felt that if her attitude was any indication of what working for the company would be like, it was probably a blessing in disguise.

Question about Softscript - Offered a Position Too

[ In Reply To ..]
I was also offered a position at Softscript, working as MT for a week, then moving to QA. Are there any Softscript QAs / former QAs that can tell me if you also run out of work? or what the working conditions are like?

Please also realize when reading these posts, that some of them are actually written by SS management. I have seen enough e-mails written by them to know their writing style. That being said, here is my two cents. They were horrible. Abusive. Lack of work. Lack of accountability. Consistently contradicting themselves. You are expected to be there for 8 hours per day, but you are told to only account for the hours that you actually work. That single point alone contradicts itself. There is never 8 hours worth of work per day. Then, there is the line count. Your expected to do a certain amount of lines per day, but there are not enough lines provided to you. The expectations for hours and line counts is a built in firing point. I have all of this in writing and I am seriously considering legal action.

days ago and look at how many views your post got in not even 1 day.

Looks like all the hacks who will do anything to keep their dishonest jobs at the expense of the concept of law are worried about your seriously considering legal action.
The view count on your post in just 1 day indicates the hacks and SS proper are scared ****less.

Think what will happen if you decide to take legal action over seriously considering it.

More than one person may have already beat you to it.

I was only with SoftScript for 3 months. They have alot of work. I thought QA was fair and the line rate was as good as you will find with any MTSO. I was part time, so I do not know about benefits. They are very busy and always asking for extra help (I had 3 accounts though). They are not flexible with schedule. That is the only reason that I left; I was missing too many of my children's activities because I had to work evenings. If I could have changed to a day schedule, or even had a little flexibility in my evening schedule, I would still be with SoftScript as I really liked it. Pay was always on time. All straight transcription too.

I like - Softscript too so far

I like Softscript too and I just started. It's working out so far. Way better than other companies I've work for in the past.

I just wanted to share this post since many people have questioned the legitimacy of this company and their testing process.  I tested for this position only hours after the job was posted.  I heard back from them on Monday morning stating that I passed the test and was offered an interview.  I had the interview this morning and EVERYTHING was very professional, legitimate, and promising.  I was offered a position, gladly accepted, and cannot wait to get started!  I wish ...

Have Tested And Been Offered A Position With M*Modal.
Sep 29, 2012

All of the negative posts on here and the company board are making me think I'm going to decline the offer.  Sad thing is, I have already caught them in a contradiction, which confirms what many of you have said one can expect from this company.  I sure wish I could find a company that appreciates what we do for them and shows it by not misrepresenting what they have to offer and by paying a decent wage so as to encourage its people to stay put.  I'm tired of a ...

full-time and in-house.  She is offering 5 cpl gross so even if someone says "um", I get paid 5 cpl for the whole line.  Is this a good line rate.  I have not done legal transcription before so I have no idea if this is a decent rate.  I feel that is kind of low and would like to ask if she would be willing to raise it.     What do you think? ...

I applied to their ad, took the test and was offered a position. Would like feedback from anyone who works there, or worked there. Did you like it? Any information you can supply is greatly appreciated. ...

Offered Position With MModal Paying A Whopping
Oct 19, 2012

4 cpl editing; however, 99.5% will be Voice Recognition I was told. Then she went on to say you guys average anywhere from 287 to 300 LPH with Voice Wreck. When she got into the part about they pay for up to 2 consecutive spaces, and if you send more than 5% to QA, I sort of zoned out. Told her I will give her my decision once I think about it over the weekend. Not. Whew it was depressing just listening to all of their demands. ...

Offered 8 Cpl At SoftScript For 20 Years Experience.
Jan 05, 2011

Has anyone said that was not enough and have them counter offer with more?  I don't plan on working for SS (I saw way too many complaints on the other board about them), but what about future offers which I suspect will not be any higher?  I saw on the resume board what I consider way too many willing to work for 7 cpl with plenty of experience.  Is it likely they will pay more when others are willing to work for so much less?  And many of these 7 cpl were IC.  Al ...

Wow!! I Was Just Offered 2 Cpl To QA!!
Jan 20, 2010

Why dont they just start asking us to work for free!  At that rate I dont even think you make minimum wage!  This is obviously not even because of outsourcing.  I think what has happened is that a lot of work has gone overseas, but the remaining work that the transcription companies are getting is still paying a half-ways decent rate but they have taken a small cut to keep them.  Then they turn around and pay NOTHING to get it transcribed so the people running the companies a ...

Would Any Of You Take A Buyout From MQ If Offered?
Jun 20, 2010

In past months I have read on this board, with dismay, so many posts about long-time MQ MTs/MEs failing consecutive audits, and eventually being discharged. I think it is a major coincidence that so many employees are suddenly and consistently failing to meet the same quality standards they always met. I think it’s a flimsy contrivance to get rid of the more highly paid employees and replace them with cheaper newbies while avoiding an age discrimination actions because those higher-paid pe ...

Again... OOW Due To OT Offered Yesterday
Jan 27, 2015

We were out of TAT once last week and since then if there are more than 2 (well maybe I am exaggerating here) jobs in the pools they open up OT.  Everyone needs to make money, so of course many of us come in and work.  Understandable.  But TSMs need to cut it off at some point so we don't wind up with nothing in the morning and slow, slow, slow to build up during the day once it is cleaned out at night.  They want you to come back in early afternoon and make up ...
