If you complain about this editing stuff you get told just be glad you have a mess or you would not have a job.  I had to retype a 15 minute editing job because the editor decided it was doing an exam for an obstetrics patient and it should have been for a neurosurgery patient.  How many times have you found a uterus in the brain?  I would not advise anyone to apply for their jobs.  You will just get treated like dirt and they do not care if you make any money or not.

I do not know what region you are speaking about. However, in my region we have a number of teamleads. There is one who does not have pets, knows what you are good at and makes sure you are happy. So I make sure I always direct my needs to this individual. Management is not all nasty. If you are having problems in your region try another. We have an employee relations specialist in HR use her. It is the squeaky wheel who gets the oil.

my fellow workers nor from this board, and I was warned that the ROM in this region will make your life living hell if you try to transfer out, so I do not think that is an option.

This sounds exactly like my ROM. I can't even tell you how many times I've been told, "Well, at least you have a job," or "Job security." Whatever. Employee relations will not help either. Trust me. Been there, done that. You either try to stay under the radar or look elsewhere. But once you are on their hit list, watch out. They will hassle you forever. It's awful. Sorry you are going thru this, but I'm in there with you. We've got to have the same management. My TL is awesome, but that's about it.

Transcend is as bad or worse than MQ and their management team is like working with a pack of hyenas. I would never, ever recommend anyone work there.

Now that I have posted correctly, I would appreciate the opportunity to share this most recent very positive Transcend experience and how management handled it. A team of about 22 MTs or so had a long-term, VERY long-term established account in acute care - over 85% ESL so took a lot to learn. Not on VR. Due to an unexpected hospital medical records management style - at least half of that team no longer had work. We were asked to pull back from transcription and essentially could not work for days at a time. Management held meetings with the facility and then communicated to us at team meetings. They worked swiftly and rapidly to find us all new accounts within the region. That entailed trying to match our current schedules, more meetings, tech support for installs, obtaining ID, training, etc. They worked overtime and truly cared, transitioning us to different accounts, as obviously this was impacting our income tremendously.

Through my 4 years with Transcend, I have struggled with personal problems that interfered, at times, with my ability to focus on transcription. As long as I called or e-mailed my TL or ROM about this, there was never once a harsh statement, they graciously not only supported me but I could take time off, then make up the hours. The line count requirement for full-time benefits is very, very fair. The gross requirement is $900.00 in 2 weeks, and the premiums for a single person are very reasonable.

I also had exposure to BeyondTXT when first starting - part-time. That platform IS possible - it just takes dedication and time - and Transcend VR rate is very good considering I see as low as 3 cents per line.

Their support system and training program for the VR is excellent - we have an on-line tutorial available to use 24/7.

I cringe when I do come to this board and read some of the posts on all the different companies. Yes, I have had negative experiences with other MTSO; however, how unprofessional to come here and plant these negative seeds. Just 2 years ago I helped and mentored a new grad (top of her class) to work for ALL TYPE, and she is very, very happy. I told her to specifically stay away from this board and just follow my instructions; to keep her from being influenced. I will send this now. There are many, many more specific positives I would like to write about but really do have to get back to work.

I am a very new Transcender and so far my experience has been nothing but great. My TL is wonderful and helpful. I am also new to VR - this is actually my first job with it and I love it. Perhaps because I have nothing to compare BeyondTXT to, I think it is better than I expected it to be? I find all companies will have bad and good experiences talked about on message boards - In my research I took it with a grain of salt and am glad I went with Transcend.

Transcend. Be grateful you have had a positive experience at Transcend, but don't think your experience is typical just because you have not experienced the negative... yet.

position papers is not recognized by Transcend management (or maybe it is as I really suspect you are management). It is really unfortunate that the other MLS in Transcend have not had the "seas parted" so they did not have to get their feet wet when roadblocks were set up. They might not feel as abused as they do. You obviously have not worked for a ROM who sends daily harassment e-mails, nor one who yells at you for an hour at a time over little things. Obviously you worked for a company at one time that had a school affiliated with it to be in the position to do mentoring. But I fail to understand why you would tell her to stay away from these boards when you do not follow your own advice.
Transcend may have had an advantage when they were paying more than 4 cpl for editing, but right now they are just down in the trenches trying to find help, just like every other company. You feel it is easy to make 22,000 lines a pay period editing, but that is really not a true statement. Try it sometime. In fact, all of the people in management, including ROMs, should have to live on what they can produce on VR for a month and see how well they do.
As far as the training modules, a few of them are good, but the majority of them are too simplistic to be of any value. Unfortunately I cannot take advantage of any of the live training classes because they are all scheduled at a time that is convenient for the east coast and people who work days, but it is difficult to work a late shift and get up at 6 a.m. for individual training or 10 a.m. for group training. I know we must accommodate the trainers' schedules, so I will continue to struggle on my own to try to learn this not so wonderful program.
Once Transcend decides to recognize what the MLS do to make them succeed, it will become a great company. Right now, it is just a place to come to work daily and suffer.

In other words, I really have to say I do not believe much of the hype you have put into your reply.

I had something similar happen to a large account last year that decided to unexpectedly take its business elsewhere leaving all of the MTs with no work on a Monday morning. I was surprised how quickly management dealt with this blow and had everybody moving to different accounts that day. My new TL called me within an hour of a team meeting call explaining what was going on, and my old TL emailed a couple of times to make sure the transition to the new account was going smoothly. I was very happy with the way things were handled in that situation.

Though I must say I struggled reaching my 900 minimum at first my TM and ROM were great and added more accounts and even let me flex my time to get my numbers up. When I had personal health issues with 2 family members they were very understanding. I have worked in the field for 24 years, previously owning my own small transcription service back in the days of sticky paper and tapes! I have also worked for MQ with a very unfavorable experience. Although I have no intention of rising to QA or TL status, I'm quite happy with the workload I have now and grateful for a job!
