Does anybody know anything about Soft Script? - neely

Yes, but if I told you I'd have to go - On the Run with that Snowden guy

What people said about Nuance? substitute "SoftScript" for Nuance and there you go!

Worked for both companies you ask about - Heed the advice to RUN

Softscript runs out of work more than any company I ever worked for (I believe they do only overflow work and do not have their own dedicated accounts). Also, they have this habit of sending out incredibly nasty global e-mails several times a day. In addition, PTO accrual is practically non-existent and then you are allowed to take minimal days off without pay.

Nuance - what can I say? They are simply a horrific, horrific place to work. The QA is unlike anything I have experienced in 15 years in the biz. The managers are nasty, horrible people. You run out of work a lot and are put on multiple accounts with multiple different account specs. Truly the WORST company I have ever worked for.

Put it this way, MModal is better than either one of these. That should be a clue as to just how awful Nuance and Softscript are.

Not great but not too bad either - Nimvin

I just worked for them recently. The pay was not awful considering current pay rates (8.5 cpl). I had 2 accounts and, yes, they did run out of work at times, but I did have enough work to keep me going, so it was an issue, but not a huge one. The big thing about them is that due to their work flow constraints, they are NAZI-LIKE in their adherence to scheduling. If you work an extra 1/2 hour past your scheduled time, you can expect an email warning about it. So if you're a person who is very schedule-oriented and willing to start and stop at your appointed hours, you won't find them all that bad to work for and the work availability will usually be there. But "winging it" with your work hours will NOT be tolerated with them, so be warned.

SS schedules - Not my experience

They were serious about sticking to schedules in a sense, but for me, work would run out and I would have to clock out and they would expect me to clock in when worked picked up (usually on my one weekend off day). Also I had 8 or 9 accounts with their very extensive account specs. You make a mistake on account specs, expect an immediate email chastising you, telling you your behavior won't be tolerated, acting as if you deliberately thought maybe you should screw something up to tick off management.

Worst place I ever worked. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. - me

DITTO!!! - SS is ridiculous!

The WORST management I have ever encountered!!! You clock in, have work, then see an email come out..."We are backed up on xxx account, all hands on deck". Five minutes later, you are out of work. They will then move you to a different account, all new account specs, which are up to 4 pages long, mind you, and this process just goes on and on. You are jumping from one account to the next and just when you think you may have adequate work, they call in the distress signals and everyone comes in and swoops up your work.

They do seem to take it personal if you make an account spec error. There is never understanding that you have so many accounts, so technically could have 50 pages of account specs to learn. You make an account spec mistake they pull you from that account and put you on a different account, which makes no sense at all! Why not learn from your first mistake, not take on learning a new account? FINALLY, they will fire you. The account specs mistakes take up so many points and when your QA drops because of them, you are canned, no questions, no second chances.

I worked there and it was a horrible place to work - Multiply what the others said tenfold...sm

The horrible emails, the lack of flexibility with scheduling, the running out of work - PLUS - the insane acct specs that are drastically different for each account you are on - and if you are like the rest of the minions there, you will be on at least 5 and probably more, just to keep enough work to be busy. One incorrect acct spec move, no matter how small, and it's "off with your head" . I would have to be very desperate to go back there EVER again.

Life after SoftScript.....sm - Oh my

I can say good and bad things about the company.

Good:
Pay is on time (hmmm so maybe only 1 good thing).

Bad:
1. Management is absolutely horrendous for the most part. They don't have a clue anymore about how to be an MT. All they care about is they might have 5 jobs not done 5 minutes after they come in. They do not know how to staff accounts correctly apparently.
2. No flexibility whatsoever UNLESS they are out of work and then of course be as flexible as you want. Oh but wait, you must check back every 30 minutes (but they are not paying you for that time).
3. While I agree the account specifics can be horrible on some accounts, they are manageable and I have seen worse. However, they could tweak them and it would certainly help.
4. Gosh forbid you need to flex for something important more than twice a month (from what I understand from other MTs), as you should schedule everything on your days off (but wait do the employees get those since they are always having to flex - not!)
5. Insurance. All I can is it is entirely to high and then covers pretty much nothing.
6. Software. It is very, very clunky and outdated. It takes entirely too much "unpaid" time to get to the report to type it.

This is just my opinion and I am sticking to it. I am an experienced MT. I did work there for longer than just a few months. Based on the above, I think it is obvious I would not recommend them, but you know, to each his own. It may work out better for some than others.

how is SS still operating - devaluedMT

Agree with all above and YES they will fire you. Was fired for "gross misconduct" and TOLD not to apply for unemployment. Applied the minute the phone call ended, received a letter from unemployment about 10 days later. Summarized what I had told them in my application and at bottom of letter, it said "RESPONSE FROM EMPLOYER: NO RESPONSE." Unemployment was granted.

Re: Soft Script

I am curious if anybody has had any experience with this company whether applying or working for them. I find it disturbing that the school I graduated from lists them as one of the possible employers to apply for work since they hire new grads. I applied a few days ago, and they said I didn't have the amount of experience they were looking for. I have 2 years experience doing family practice reports plus just graduated recently. I would have thought I qualified. This is so discouraging. I ...
