How can I be very productive using eScription platform - first-time user

Only being paid 3.7 cpl. I normally average 250 lines per hour straight typing. I need to try and get that equivalent in pay. TIA

I can do about 350-375 per hour on a good day in an account I know well. Not sure what you were making per line straight typing, but at your line rate that's about $13 an hour. I'm not one of those 600 lines per hour people and honestly have never met one. But for what it's worth, here's what's helped me the most. First, change only what affects patient care. Second, at 3.7 cpl, taking a few seconds to answer the phone or check Facebook or whatever REALLY kills your line count, so work when you're working. Third, their shortcut program really is no help at all, so I use my own and have a lot of shortcuts for the kinds of "procedural" or format changes I do over and over that SR doesn't pick up. I know and use my Word shortcuts frequently, much more than the ES shortcuts. Finally, I find editing a lot more exhausting than straight typing. It requires thinking critically every second. I need to make sure I build break times in or I'm fried before I'm halfway done with my shift, and then my line count takes a nosedive.

I just received my Infinity USB foot pedal from PCDictate. I am employed with Nuance using the eScription platform and I am unable to get this foot pedal to work. The company I work for is changing over to ChartNet, with its ExpandText expander. I don't like that it has no way of adding/creating new shortcuts without using the mouse.
