Is it possible to work Escription platform on Satellite internet? - Suzy Q

Posted: Apr 19, 2012

I realize we were told that we cannot use satellite internet with Escription program, but has anyone actuallyl tried doing this?  I live where they only have satellite internt and commute to a large city, so I can work for Nuance.  So far this has worked out okay, but I really would like to be home more.  Am just wondering if this is possible.

I had to leave Nuance previously because they ... - blondie

They would not allow satellite internet. So I went to work for Transcend who allows satellite. Two months after starting with them I learn Nuance is buying them out. So I'm back where I started.

There certainly aren't many placed that will allow satellite internet. I might as well start looking elsewhere I guess.

As far as will it work, yes I believe it will. They just don't want you to use it. I say that because TTS has accounts that are Escription V9, and they said it was compatible with satellite internet. So that tells me yes it will work with satellite but they don't want you using it so they say it is not compatible.

They would know when the tech person went to install Editscript on your computer. They can look and see what your service is and all that.

It is aggravating. If something works, let us use it.

Hi there! I do not work for Nuance, but I do work on eScription EditScript VERY well. I do have the fastest (expensive!) speed satellite will go for home use. I love eScription! It took a while installing (a few hours), but it is definitely worth it.

Thanks for your replies. - Suzy Q

Yeah, I kind of figured that Nuance just does not like satellite internet. Maybe if they had an interest, such as buying out the satellite internet companies, they would love for you to use satellite internet. I have heard good things about eScription and that is a good program to work on. Oh well you have to play by their rules I guess.

Just wonder if you would get fired for having satellite internet when you said up front you had DSL or cable. Probably would, huh????

I'm guessing yes. The problem is security. Maybe they just - do not want to be bothered confirming

that you have a good encryption program, etc. Since they have so many applicants anyway.

I'm with Nuance and interested in this issue because we want to buy a little place up in the mountains, but, of course, I'll have to be able to work up there.
Yes, security and, at one point, I heard also because of - the unreliable satellite connection in bad weather

I can't recall which MTSO mentioned this to me (when I was totally broke and having to depend on a Cricket device for my internet, lol!), but they mentioned it was security and also the unreliability of a steady connection during bad weather. I don't know a lot about satellite, but I believe they mentioned clouds and sun spots wreaking havoc with the connection, reports floating into cyberspace, causing low production for the MTs, etc.

My daughter lives in the foothills and has to rely on satellite internet through Wild Blue...what a nightmare the Wild Blue is up there, lol!

Nah, satellite is not insecure and does not put reports in cyberspace. Satellite has come a long way. Most companies, I have found from the tech people, do not want to support any problems when someone has satellite. "Security" is what most people "just say."

I work for a large company, with satellite, in the woods with extreme weather. My cable modum used to go out more than my satellite ever has. Don't forget, some folks will complain no matter if their internet were the speed of the BBC news. LOL

Anyone Work On Editscript And Have Satellite Internet?
Feb 24, 2012

I previously worked at Nuance on Editscript platform.  I moved and had to get satelllite internet, and Nuance wasn't compatible anymore.  So I am working at Transcend, who said the BeyondTXT platform is satellite compatible.  I do not care much for BeyondTXT though.  My line counts are much lower than what they were with Editscript.  BeyondTXT said their accounts with Editscript aren't compatible with satellite.  Is there anyone who works on an Editscript ...
