"Standard" dictation speed has been reset faster - on my accounts. If we were still working from tape

On every single report, the speed starts out so fast that it is hard to keep up with even the dictators I am familiar with. I have to adjust it on every report. Can some one please tell me a way to fix it permanently? Thanks. ...

I know the "push" is to use the shortcuts but it takes me twice as long to remove my hands from the keyboard to reach the arrow keys and alt+shift or ctrl+shift than to just click where I want to go with the mouse. Wondering if anyone has been able to find a way to make M-Modal go faster or if it is just hopeless. The software can be extremely slow and bogs down a lot, especially if you increase the speed or choose to optimize the playback to skip over blank spots (dictator not talking) in the dictation. I have been straight transcribing for many moons. Then got into doing QA and a lot of the reports I get are straight editing of speech recognition rather than doing QA.
