SoftScript medical editor employees - Sue

Posted: Jun 06, 2013

Interested in feedback for any MTs currently working in positions of Medical Editors for SoftScript. They are poised to come into our hospital causing us to move from Nuance to Softscript platform. Heard SS has no Voice Recognition?? Can't be true, right? Huge technology step backwards if true. Can anyone currently working for SoftScript comment on their work experience for them and how much MEs are paid?

Thank you so much!

Going to SS will be like falling off a cliff - SSMT

You are right, there is no voice rec at SoftScript, although it has been rumored for a while that they are experimenting with it. If you are on eScription at Nuance you will be in for a rude awakening. The audio system is horrible at SS, so you will be struggling all the time trying to hear what is being dictated. The audio system is not digital, so if you try to slow it down or speed it up the voice goes lower and higher, making it even more difficult to understand, like an old vinyl record. The SS interface system is antiquated and very minimalist.

I can't tell you about the pay since it has been a while, but at least they are competitive with other companies, maybe a tad better. I feel for you!

BTW, if you post this question on the larger company forum, you might get some more SS feedback. Good luck!

Transitioning To Medical Editor - Fee??
Jan 09, 2011

I have had three large accounts for over 20 years.  One has gone completely automated with voice recognition (except for two providers who will never be able to use voice recognition - yay!), one is in the process of going EMR, and one hasn't even addressed it yet.  The first one has hired me to access their system directly (Centricity/Logician) and proofead every voice recognition-created record their providers create and make corrections as needed.  They hav ...

Anyone Transition To MT/Editor To Copy Proofing Or Editing Non-medical?
Mar 09, 2015

Just wondering if anyone has been able to cross over to that field?  I'm currently working on my first proof/editing job for a novel written by a family member for free as a favor to them and really enjoy that type of work versus the structured MT/Editor work I've done for over a decade.  I would love to get out of MT all together if possible and was wondering if any of you were able to make that transition.  Thanks in advance! ...

Any SoftScript Employees Who Can Give Me Advice?
Oct 03, 2012

Just hired. This is my 2nd week. Been an MT since 1986.  I get NO communication from my mentor or production manager. I added them to Yahoo messenger as instructed, but they have yet to accept my invite. I have asked questions of the production manager via email with absolutely no response. My mentor did answer one question via email.  Yesterday, problems with the software.  Down part of the day. Today, it loaded with an enlarged screen. Could not see physician area. Voxplayer ...

Question For SoftScript Employees Re: Mentors
Nov 06, 2012

I just started at SS around 2 weeks ago - have gone through the training, being assigned to a production manager and a mentor, and all. My question is this - does anyone else (or DID anyone else) have trouble with getting your mentor to answer your questions regarding reports in a timely manner? There have been times when I've been transcribing a report - needed an answer to something I couldn't find on the acct specs - and couldn't get an answer back to my question. Or, I' ...

Question For Current/past SoftScript Employees..
Sep 20, 2011

Wondering if anyone has been let go because of sending over 8% of work to QA.  They expect our line count to be at least 135 an hour (which for the most part is easily done), our accuracy to be 98+ and under 8% to QA.  Sometimes this is not possible.  I do everything I can to not send to QA (relisten, utilize google, books, relisten, adjust speed/sound, did I mention relisten, relisten, relisten).....but lets face it there are a boatload of dictators that are just impossible.  ...

Softscript Now Placing Medical Secretaries?
Apr 10, 2012

They're running an ad on MTJobs for a facility in Pampa, Texas. I've seen medical coding positions there, but to me this is corrupting the site. They must be getting a finder's fee cuz medical secretaries inhouse make about double what an MT does. No one move to Texas for this one. ...

OMG How Funny - Read Glassdoor Opinion Of Employees, US Versus Indian Employees!
Aug 05, 2013

I was just curious about what employees thought of Nuance on Glassdoor.  You read several US employee opinions and they reflect the morale listed on MTStars.  Scroll further down and read the opinions of the transcriptionists from India.  What a difference.  They are highly satisfied with their jobs and most have been working with Nuance for 6 to 7 years.  The US transcriptionists are very sad!!  What a difference..... ...

Are You A VR Editor...or VR Proofreader?
May 05, 2011

I'm not talking about the official proofreader positions that people hire in as.  I'm talking about VR "editing" - meaning, when you get those reports where VR does what it's supposed to, and you only need to add 1 comma, for instance, in the entire report - and you are zipping along at the 300-400 lph you were promised, as justification for the 50% pay cut on switch to VR...isn't that actually proofreading?? ...but what about those OTHER reports...the ones that re ...

Letter To The Editor
May 23, 2012

Medical Transcriptionist Week began May 20th to recognize MTs over a week. The theme this year: Patient Safety. MTs across the country are transcribing medical records and are dedicated to being a 1st-line defense against errors that can negatively and sometimes fatally affect you as a patient - physicians make mistakes. MTs ensure those errors do not end up in your Electronic Medical Record.  Healthcare consumers are you aware that local hospitals are outsourcing their work to what are kno ...
