Master Medical Editor Certification Exam - Carol
Posted: Jun 13, 2012
Does anyone know anything about the MME certification exam? I have searched for it on Google and cannot find anything.
Thanks.
Is this another invention - of AHDI?

Sounds like another attempt to rake MTs over the coal.

I contacted AHDI and they only offer the RMT and CMT certifications.
I think it's an invention of - MModal

that's the only place I've ever seen the term used.
I didn't think there was a certification - Just a test to see if can be one

I'm an MME and all I did was take a test not too much different than the new-hire one to see if I qualify. I didn't think there was a special one to be "certified." Where did you hear this from?
Correction: Just a test to see if *you* can be one - nm

it should be called the superhuman hearing test.
I'd probably fail it, even after ---- sm - flmt

30 years of transcription, at least according to MModal, to keep me from making more money. Anyway, I think it would be redundant to put the "MME" after the MD that is already after my name.

I've been an MME for 3-4 years now. I accepted the invitation to test because I had been dealing with month after month of NJA and the MME "carrot" was dangled in front of my nose as a "promotion" - "It's a way of opening up a new avenue of income for you".
What I soon found out was that 99% of my work flow suddenly went from ASR/straight typing to $0.03 cpl MME work. This level of income, after being a Medquist employee for 12 years.
They will put all kinds of fancy names on it, wrap it up in a frilly box and present it to you as a promotion but your income WILL go down. After being "promoted" to MME, earning HALF the pay I used to earn, I have now found myself on Food Stamps and barely able to provide for myself and my son.
MModal/Medquist is very, very clever about the ways they coerce us into "promotions" that are only creative ways to reduce our pay. DON'T DO IT.
Wow, think of the money this company would make if - we all became MMEs

It actually makes perfect sense that they would want to migrate us all over to an MME position, that way the Indian employees could mangle the document for just pennies and then we would correct it and make it look beautiful for just pennies!
How very smart of you, MModal. Since you're so good at manipulating people into profit, I wish you were my financial advisor ... maybe then you can teach me how to pay my bills on minimum wage.
Can someone tell me how many questions there are that pertain to medical terminology, A and P, etc as opposed to actual coding questions on the CCS coding certification test?
I am an MT, have basic knowledge of terminology, but there are so many new terms that I must learn, not to mention the A and P section. I do the lessions, do the chapter review tests, take the weekly exams and do well, but I do not think I am retaining too much after I test.
The coding tests, however, ...
At the present time . . .
AHIMA *coding* credentials (CCS, CCS-P) REQUIRE a high school diploma. That is all.
AAPC coding credentials (the CPC, CPC-H, and CPC-P) REQUIRE 2 years experience coding that specialty. You may sit the exam prior to that and will receive the credential in "Apprentice" status until you have satisfied the experience requirement. One year of the required 2 years can be satisfied by attending a course that meets certain requirements. I am aw ...
so very confused now. wanted to sign up for AHIMA but now i read this on their site.
Step One: Education

In looking for a change - does anyone know of a Medical Billing Certification class you can take on line.
Since, being gone from MQ I was able to get a job as an ROI Specialist, but I found out medical billers - make pretty good money.
Yes coders even more. But for me I just think I want the medical billing certification.

I have been a medical transcriptionist for just over 10 years but I am now looking into coding. I was hoping for some info on this. How easy is it to get a job working from home? Is it hard to get a job straight out of school? What would be the best school if I wanted to get CCS certification? I have heard that Andrews School was a good one but would love input from everyone. Thanks! ...
I have had three large accounts for over 20 years. One has gone completely automated with voice recognition (except for two providers who will never be able to use voice recognition - yay!), one is in the process of going EMR, and one hasn't even addressed it yet.
The first one has hired me to access their system directly (Centricity/Logician) and proofead every voice recognition-created record their providers create and make corrections as needed. They hav ...
Interested in feedback for any MTs currently working in positions of Medical Editors for SoftScript. They are poised to come into our hospital causing us to move from Nuance to Softscript platform. Heard SS has no Voice Recognition?? Can't be true, right? Huge technology step backwards if true. Can anyone currently working for SoftScript comment on their work experience for them and how much MEs are paid?
Thank you so much! ...
Just wondering if anyone has been able to cross over to that field? I'm currently working on my first proof/editing job for a novel written by a family member for free as a favor to them and really enjoy that type of work versus the structured MT/Editor work I've done for over a decade. I would love to get out of MT all together if possible and was wondering if any of you were able to make that transition. Thanks in advance! ...

Face is symmetric and moves normally. Palate and tongue are midline and move normally. Sternoclavo master and sjogren normal.
Dr. always gives the same examination, but today he throws in "sternoclavomasteransjogrennormal" He says it so very fast, but when I slowed it down I am 80% sure he says sternoclavo master and Sjogren normal..

Ok, I notice people use a lot of abbreviations when they talk on here. Is there a list stating what the abbreviations are?
Stuff like MT, RN, QA, VR, MTSO, RMT, CMT, etc.
Yes, I'm a newb! I know some of the ones in my examples, but seriously, all of these abbreviations are driving me nuts! ...
Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field, professional background in management, then 10+ years in medical transcription, new coder. Interested in future healthcare management. Would a BSN/nursing degree be desireable? Or better to pursue a second bachelor's or a Master's in HIM?
Or ... other that I have not considered but should?
Looking for insight or thoughts.

I have set my goal to become certified after being a transcriptionist for 5 years. I wondered if anyone knew of any good study guide or books that may have helped them? I have been to ADHI and they have a monthly course I was considering. ...
I took online coding program years ago as well as an MT program. I decided to go into MT but am wanting to start back up with coding again. Is it worth it to do another coding program or to pursue a certification? I'm not sure the money I'd need to spend would really justify either. I've been doing a lot of research and while certification is preferred, it's not always a requirement in job descriptions. Thanks ...
