More pay cuts? New QA rules/laws/regulations? - Sea MT

Posted: Dec 30, 2012

Don't you just love the communication at Nuance? Just received an Email regarding new QA rules (new hoops to jump through for bonus), so disgusted I just deleted the message.

Bringing the E5 *in line with the rest of NTS*? I don't want to know how much better and faster we are all supposed to be with WHATEVER technology you push out....

I just wanta say that some of you people in management had better learn to transcribe.

And WTH is the learning module "Speak Hawaiian"....what does that have to do with medical transcription?

THANK YOU, NUANCE for sending me onto early retirement. I'm one of your top 10 producers (pretty sure of that). You drove me me into part time 2 years ago (I refuse to be hog-tied to the 40-hour week, chasing hours nights and weekends to get 40).

I absolutely refuse to take another pay cut, and THAT IS MY FINAL ANSWER. Thank the Lord I don't rely on Nuance for my living, and I am sincere about that. I can leave at any time and don't have to put up with this corporate attitude.

Sick of corporate greed, corporate attitude. I despise Nuance and everything it stands for. And you know where you can shove Fiesa.

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Don't know what 2013 will hold for me, but I'll be ok whatever happens. I wish all my my fellow MTs peace, prosperity, and much joy for the new year.

Just wondering since you are one of the top 10 producers, what are your lines per day? I have always wondered what the top producers are. In the newsletters, they will print the top producers but never give the lines. It would be nice to kind of know what the top producers are doing. Thanks!

This is not just for this original poster. I am personally on e-scription and my lines range from 2200 to 3000 a day (8 hours). Anyone else want to share?

say what? - slowpoke

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't get that many, maybe half. I've been switched accounts alot, and now I run out of work throughout the day.

I find that number hard to believe. I use escription, - and am lucky to do 1500/day, MAX.

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm sorry, but I would have to see some kind of proof of line counts like that. They just sound like what our supes tell us "others are making". Smells fishy.
Yup, me too, Escription and average about 1600 ish a day - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
Every now and then I hit 2200 but not often.

Been doing this for 15 years and used to type this many lines a day. I truly hate VR and the idiots who believe it is all that and a bag of fat free chips.

Was always told I was a top producer at Transcend, now with Nuance this past week have still managed to do between 2500-3000 also. Hoping I get to keep my accts, because if they go bye-bye to India like I have read on this board they eventually will, then it will be a different story. Just thankful I have a hubby with a job!

What are the first 3 letters of the account you are working on? I started with BAN, then was switched to UA--, now on TE--. If I could still be on my original account they started me on (after my hospital went to Nuance for their "services"), I would be doing those kinds of lines every day. I HATE INDIA!

I try to aim for 3000 edited lines in 6-7 hours a day and I can usually do it.
Okay, give it up, how do you do it? - ANON

I am in and out of tiny reports all day and they are all ESL. I think my main problem is lack of focus.

Please share this magic you have. I need to get my line count up or will be carless, homeless and starving by March.

I only dream about being able to produce this many lines in a day! I'm lucky to get this many in a week! I am new at Nuance but still need to be able to make a living. Would you mind sharing how you are able to achieve this? What do you use for expanders? I would appreciate ANY help! Thank you!
To minwagemt - mommyof3
[ In Reply To ..]
I do use some expanders but not a lot. My main thing is I stay focused and I set goals for each hour and try to make them. For those who say that is impossible or a lie, well it is the truth. I have one account and I think that helps. It isn't the one that I was onboarded with was sold out to India and we were all out of work within a few weeks. I think it has mostly to do with attitude. Not saying everyone has a bad one but you just have to set your mind to it and not feel so beat down all the time. I guess that is my advice. I have never posted on this board because everyone is so suspicious of anyone who doesn't have anything bad to say about Nuance. I thank God for a job that I am still able to maintain my previous lifestyle with and stay home with the kids. Good luck to you all.
2200-3000 is possible (though difficult), 5000-6000 is the LIE. NM - anon

5000-6000 lines a day every day - SM - unbelievable

[ In Reply To ..]
I was told by my TSM there is some MT that do that many lines in 8 hours or less on escription.
I don't believe that for a second. Impossible. - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I know if I could stay in my seat with ZERO interruptions and no breaks I could do at most 3500 on the perfect day.

By the end of the first week you would find me at the edge of a very tall building.

There is NO WAY anyone is doing 5000-6000 lines a day every day, all day and meeting 99% QA.
5000-6000 lines - me
[ In Reply To ..]
There is NO WAY they are doing that many lines in an 8-hour shift. Must have NO ESL dictators that make you pull your hair out every day! I don't believe this for a minute!
Technically possible with exceptionally good account - + exceptionally fast++ editor. BUT
[ In Reply To ..]
every time I've gotten really fast on an ordinary account (never anything like that, but then I'm not a phenomenal typist) I've been pulled off the good worktype because I make too much incentive pay. As long as they have enough MTs for the work, they just rotate slower people in, and I only see those worktypes briefly when they're out of TAT.

Unused to do that much easily until they lost my main account. - am

[ In Reply To ..]
It was not unusual for me to do 3000 to 3500 lines per day editing or 2000 to 2400 typing. Then they lost my main account and I got shifted around a lot until they finally found one that had enough work. Unfortunately it's a difficult and very picky account full of "volunteer work" such as changing the author ID to the attending whenever a resident dictates and looking up every single demographic because the dictators have 0 accountability and enter whatever they feel like, which is mostly always wrong. I now get about 2000 lines per day editing and 2-3 hours of my day is volunteer work. So, it absolutely depends on the account and I think good ones are becoming few and far between.

Pleeaasse! - slowpoke

[ In Reply To ..]
I would also love to know this, I've asked repeatedly about a percentage of those who make the incentive bonus, and supervisors tell me they don't know if they have access to that info. I asked my last boss this, and somehow, within the week, I was moved to another account. I just want to know if I'm the only slow one, or does no one make it?!

incentive - mommyof3

[ In Reply To ..]
I make the incentive. I have to to make a living. I was on-boarded from a hospital and pay went way down. It is very hard to maintain QA and speed but it can be done. I try not to let Fiesa get me down. I try to view it as positive and keep on even though sometimes it drives me nuts the way they correct us.

Yes, I gagged when I read the latest about E5 realignment. sm - Sick

They seem to have forgotten that we (former WMX) are still on the clunker platform with crappy VR. Now, they are going to change how our scores are figured? Yes, they also are driving me into early retirement in 2013. Wishing you a happy retirement. N's loss for sure.

I too am fed up - ds

[ In Reply To ..]
I too am fed up with Nuance. I have been happy as an MT over my 25-30 years in the field, but Nuance is pushing me into early retirement too. I refuse to support or enable a company to succeed that treats it's employees the way that Nuance does. I have never been treated with such disrespect before. I am looking for another job for my last few years before I retire. I don't see how you can live with yourself and do this to the MLS, especially those who are single parents. I am lucky, in that I am not in that position, but I am sure many MLS are. I just don't see how upper management can look themselves in the mirror.

We've been in a laissez-faire era, is how. They're just - running with the management crowd. Same

[ In Reply To ..]
as our erstwhile GOP candidates Romney and Ryan, the latter still in the Senate and no doubt still a great admirer of Ayn Rand , even if he did reject her officially for the campaign--at least the part about her being an atheist; the part about her considering people like us insects to be stepped on was not mentioned.

I totally agree - ds

[ In Reply To ..]
Laissez-faire capitalism would probably work in a perfect world, but in our world, there is something called greed, and because of that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I am sure there are some businesses that care about their employees, but I'm pretty sure Nuance isn't one of them.

Amen sista!!! If you don't need them, LEAVE. nm - abused mt

I noticed long ago that every change, "irrelevant" - or no, dropped my line count or effective rate.sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Such a coincidence. This isn't just Nuance, though. It started at Webmedx and before that, at Transcend, but for a couple of years actual exploitation was hidden behind what seemed then reasonable adjustments as people started using expanders. It's continued right up to now, so I'd be a real dummy not to expect another shafting with this. And I used to be so open minded and reasonable... :)

That doesn't mean I haven't spent the past 30 years watching this all develop and waiting for the populist types to finally wise up and get mad. If I knew the verbal mob had finally grabbed some real torches and headed for headquarters, I'd be scared for the clerks, and glad.

OP, wish you the best too.

Law # 387 "The Blown Eardrum Factor": When you are faced with transcribing a report where the volume is so low that you can barely hear it, even with both your computer's volume and your transcription software's volume turned up AS HIGH AS IT WILL GO, it is an absolute certainty that you will have a dictator who coughs loudly into the microphone throughout the dictation. ...

Pay Cuts For Salaried Employees
