Medscribe Florida pay cuts - jacked again

Posted: Jul 04, 2012

I saw posts on here about Medscribe pay cuts and really didn't believe it until it happened to me.  They lost their 2 biggest accounts, so what do you do, you cut the employees' pay who were bringing in the income.  I only know of the one account they lost because it happened to be the one I worked on and my income went literally to 0.  THEN when they finally decided to put me on another account, they cut my pay.  Stick a fork in me.  Once again, the greed in this industry is amazing.  So happy 4th of July and SO happy I'm not working today, because I would be.  There wouldn't be work any OTHER time, but today those hospitals would be overflowing.  It's not like I'm having a party here, completely broke, but tired of working for the unappreciative greedy (you fill it in).

I don't think they are being greedy. I think they are trying to survive. If they lost sm - Other Side of the Coin

their 2 biggest accounts, they probably are feeling it financially and need to make the cuts to make their bills.

I was an MTSO until a year ago when I finally sold the company. My expenses kept going up and income down, to the point that I could not take a salary at all. We were not a small company; I had over 100 employees. I just couldn't survive on my own any more. The offshore companies and hospital cuts have hurt MTSOs. Don't be so quick to judge; they are not all greedy.

Not true other side of the coin. - Have had my pay cut & know the accts.

I understand your point. You need to understand that MS is quite greedy. I have over 2 dozen accounts I transcribe for them, and a grand total of 1 of those is gone. In short, I happen to know for a fact that they are LYING to us. That"mgmt took a pay cut thing" is such transparent BS and probably amounts to $5 to $10 a pay period. It is more likely that the jerk that runs it is selling and trying to make it look as profitable as possible. They are NOT trying to hold on; they are just trying to be as profitable as possible on paper. Again, I work there.....so I know. They deserve 0 compassion. Zero.

I used to work there - anon

The guy that ran the place was like a used car salesman. I had a rough time even getting my last paycheck. Glad I got out (though most places are really just as bad now days).
Amen. Your analogy is spot on. - No true.....

Hope I don't have trouble getting my last check, but I will not be shocked if I do.

If a company can't survive without destroying its MTs - financially, it doesnt deserve to survive.

[ In Reply To ..]
If they can't make it work without paying its MTs less than min. wage, then maybe they need to grow a spine and stop selling their services at rock-bottom prices to the client.

And the client needs to weed out about 50% of its mananagement rants, which for the most part is superfluous fluff.

Correction: that word was "ranks", not "rants", but - hey, after all this IS sort of a rant! ;)

Amen! - MTSOs need to thin management

[ In Reply To ..]
And pay MTs commensurate with knowledge & responsibility.

Greed drives - this industry

[ In Reply To ..]
Don't kid yourself, your experience notwitihstanding. The greed of the other MTSOs who made impossible for you to survive, perhaps. Their bottom line does not include MTs.

You can be sure that mgt at MTSOs are not taking pay cuts. They are cutting MTs pay and going to India. That is greedy.

I do work for Medscribe and I find them to be honest and above board. They did lose 2 big accounts. I think asking employees to take a 1 cpl pay cut was in an effort to keep the company afloat. I appreciated the phone call and the explanation given, understood the rationale behind it, and was assured the topic would be revisited, which I believe they will do. I really enjoy the company, the people, the tech support, the accounts, promptness of phone calls and e-mails responded to, etc. It happens to be one of the good companies out there. Hurting financially on my end here, also because I work an odd shift and work flow has been light, but I plan on sticking it out to see what happens.

How can it be one of the good companies out there? Not at all. - Works there 2

[ In Reply To ..]
You can't make a living there. You can't get enough hours to make benefits. Why do you think they are so "above board?" Because they called you instead of wrote you to lower your income?

Good luck sticking it out. That's exactly what they want--MTs staying until they have to bail. That way, no unemployment to pay. I think the statement that the big B is trying to look lean & profitable to sell is right on.

This shows your ignorance. B is not the owner. sm - Get Real

[ In Reply To ..]
They DID lose two big accounts. Volume is down, costs are up, cuts needed to be made. They are no different than most companies, in most industries, all over the country. I'm surprised it took this long.

Excuse me. YOU get real. - Works there for Walmart wages
[ In Reply To ..]
Whoops. You are right. B's bro J is the owner. It scarcely matters. You are surprised they held out this long? Ha. You must be CM. You guys are getting what you want. Top MTs go. Profit margin goes up. And the fat rats bail. Typical for this industry.

I'm hanging on and see both sides - Eyes open but hopeful

I am an employee, decided to accept the pay cut and let the dust settle. I think there is a lot of truth in all the posts here, but I love my job and really have made more money here than I have in years. I work hard and for a change my paycheck reflects that. I'm sure it depends on the accounts that you are assigned, but I have been very happy and love my immediate boss. I don't want to start over -- I'm 5 years from retirement. I hope the owner is not going to sell out to one of the big companies -- been there, done that, and won't do it again. We all have to decide what makes sense for us personally, but for me I'm going to keep working and hope for the best. Good luck to everyone, no matter what you decide.

Good luck to you, too. - Works there for Walmart wages

[ In Reply To ..]
I hope it works out for you. I really do. Just know that MS does not have your best interest at heart. Just the bottom line.

Glass half full? - Alice

[ In Reply To ..]
IMHO, it is quite honorable that some of you are able to be positive and attempt to continue to view the glass as half full. However, be careful. Your loyalty may be honorable, but you may get hurt in the long term. I once was a loyal IC to a company. There were signs that something was amiss with the MTSO that I worked for, but I continued working for them without thought of finding another job. Then, the company lost an account and didn't feel the same loyalty to me as I felt to them. They didn't hesitate to cut me off immediately, after working nearly 3 years for them. Of course, as an IC, I wasn't eligible for unemployment. (I'm sure that IC position was misclassified, but that's another long story). So, I no longer feel emotional ties to a job. After all, this is business, not charity, and I learned that the MTSOs mostly feel the same way. When you're hungry and homeless, I doubt they will care.

MS paycut - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I do VR at MedScribe and I got a paycut also. It is my understanding that everyone is getting the cut. They are just making the calls personally. So, If you have not got one yet, it is coming. I too am trying to stick in there. I still have plenty of work though because, except for a backup account, I did not work on the 2 accounts they lost. They just gave me another backup account. I hope that the rumors of selling are not true because I love working there. They are very helpful, pay is always on time, and they leave you alone to do your work. The voice rec platform is not bad either. Maybe we will pick up some more big accounts. Good luck to all MedScribe employees!

I can't believe anyone still believes ANYTHING ANY transcription company says. Like the poster above who said "they told us it would be revisited." yeah right. I already have my food stamps application in. My check for the last pay period was 0.00. I too believed that this was a "good" company when I began. oh yeah, it's good as long as you want to give 12 hours of your day to get 6 hours of work and then when YOU don't get to YOUR required number of hours for the week, it's YOUR fault. your pay has been cut, it will NEVER go back up. that's the way in this industry and anybody who believes it will, I'll take that bet right now. I took this job for certain days and hours that would meet my life issues and ended up working all the days and nights and weekends put together, so "life issues" were only MY concern and not theirs. stay if you want, it will get worse. the only accounts they have now are overflow so work is erratic and random, hit or miss. One good day and 2 bad days does not make a paycheck. I wish they WOULD send all the work to India, let them handle this crap, I'm am OVERDONE.
Sorry you've had such a bad experience - Eyes open but hopeful
[ In Reply To ..]
My experience has been very different. I did run out of work today, but that is very unusual. I really think it depends on what accounts you are working. Mine are busy and have not slowed down. Still, even with the pay cut, my paychecks are more than they have been for the past several years. I hope you find something that fits with what you need, not only the money but the hours and stability that work in your life.

Any Opionions On Medscribe (Florida) And DTS?

I have debating on applying to both of these companies.  Does anyone have an opinion one way or the other? Steady work, decent account with ability to make a liveable wage, and also benefits i.e. cost of insurance affordable?  I know this is a lot to ask but I need to find the right fit. MEDSCRIBE FLORIDA Info

Confused on whether to go with MedScribe or not.  They seem like really nice people, but would be a pay cut (but they pay for spaces and now not getting paid for spaces). It also seems like the work would be consistent.  My biggest fears:  Having to work Saturdays, but most of all, if I can meet their 1300 line a day requirement.  Right now, my line requirement with another co. is 800 lines a day and it seems that is all I am able to get, but I think that is mainly because of the accounts an ...
