Is Nuance a good place to work as a QC editor? - JustWondering

Is Nuance a good place to work as a QC editor? Has anyone been a QC editor for them before or is one currently? How is the pay? I saw it says hourly.
QC editor - been there

the pay was reasonable, you will work hard, but they fired whole US SWAT QC team with only a two-week notice and we worked all day long on the hard stuff other QC could not get

Why did they fire a whole team? And could you estimate how much QC is paid please? I just want to see if it is more than what I make currently.
My understanding was that is approximately $10-12 an hour. NM - anon
SWAT team was not fired, just the "team" of SWAT members was done away with. - I was SWAT, so I know.

I did not get fired. I was SWAT but the team was done away with. Maybe you were SWAT and were fired, but I find your information very hard to believe. SWAT was the "cream of the crop" and I for sure could not imagine them wanting to fire their "best" people, be it QC, QA or MT....
From the lowly point of view of the MT the main requirment to be QC at Nuance is - anon

(this is just my very humble opinion based on my personal experience at Nuance)
You must exhibit absolute inconsistency in your corrections from report to report. The more ways you can think of to do things, the better.
Second, you must be proficient at derogatory and condescending comments.
You absolutely MUST place commas in nonsensical places and give critical major errors for the MT interchanging the words "a" or "the."
The real key is to enjoy stripping every bit of self-confidence from the MT.
Justwondering: I agree with the above post. Are - you willing to do SM

these things in order to keep a job as QC? Personally, I could not. Has anyone who worked as QC for Nuance who no longer does willing to talk about the instructions you are given? It is said outright or is it implied? Do you go into it honestly and are then corrupted by upper management? Really curious about this.
And fill in lots of blanks - Amanda

Expect to fill in lots of blanks. My days of researching are over. If it's something coherent, I'll give it a quick search, but that's it. Forget going from book to book, Google, this site and that site.
Nayyyy. Not for 4 cents.
No, no, no.. - SM

They don't tell use (QC) to be derogatory. They tell us to be fair. The QC scores don't even count against your overall score. It's the QA (post audit, after the report goes to the client) scores you have a problem with. Most of the QA people are from India (unless you are on a US-only account and they are RARE). India QAs are the ones you have to worry about. I am a former QC and no longer work for Nuance. You have to understand there is a difference between QC and QA. Most of the QC people are just like you, and they get audited as well by the offshore India QA and the pay is insulting to boot.
Absolutely not. Please don't consider it. - sm

All they do is take advantage of people with low pay and you are still getting edited by QA and still have to go through all the usual stress, if not more. They take your average hourly rate you make as an MT and pay you that, so what is the point, really? More work, more stress, same pay? I don't see why anyone would even consider that, but to each their own. Outsider probably will start out at $10-12, as person said before.
Are there any good companies out there? Or should I give up in despair? Seriously, I would like to know who LIKES their employer -- let me hear from you! ...
I laughed – until I realized it may not be a typo or Freudian slip, but what they actually think we are worth.
American MTSO, actual job ad.
Before you all go crazy -- I know! They were probably filling out a form field that asked for salary and only let them enter numbers – I am sure they mean 5 to 8 cents per line, and the field defaults to per year. I just needed a good laugh and thought some of you may too.

Ok - so anyone who is a QC Editor for Nuance - can you please tell me what I'm in for? I'm about to accept a position and with all this fighting & negativity on here, it's not very encouraging. Anyone with GOOD news?? ...
I need to know if it is just me. I am so frustrated with this place. I thought I would enjoy getting paid by the line instead of hourly, but they just seem to do what they can to slow us down. They are constantly changing the account's specifics so you have to stop and read a paragraph before you can type EACH report. Also, constantly changing your account.....today you are on _____, then tomorrow without warning you are on _____. Also, it seems like every QC has a different way o ...
I've been an MLS for 24 years. Been with the same company working from home for the last 13 years. Continuing to run out of work every day. Looking for new company. Have a potential job offer from Nuance. Everything sounds good, but then I look up reviews! Does anyone work as an MLS for Nuance? Can you please tell me the absolute truth about the pay, QA, etc. etc. ...
Hi -
I am looking for recent and current info on Nuance. I have heard good things about them and bad, but want to hear from someone who currently works there. Do they make you stick to a certain schedule or are they flexible? How is QA? Do the account managers or team leads have multiple accounts to oversee or just 1 or 2? How is their communication? Are they friendly enough that one could possible enjoy their job again?
Thanks in advance for any information ...
I really appreciate all the replies, good and bad. I guess the good new is we the displaced have time on our sides in that we have 58 days to make a decision about our future employment, I believe the union did get us that. I'm definitely going to look at other companies, possibly independent contractor positions. There are some leaving who have kids/families they are supporting, I am 59, only support myself so I have that at least. Appreciate MTStars board. ...
We got the news yesterday, offered jobs at Nuance doing our same doctors. I understand we have to clock in, and will now have to pay for insurance, internet not reimbursed, less pay, very large company. We work on Escription with small amount of straight typing. They say will transfer our seniority, etc. I have read on this board in the past that thngs may start out well but don't neccesarrily stay that way, things go downhill. I would love hear from someone who works there and like ...
I've reached the point where I'll work for almost any company, even M-Modal or Nuance, if it means I can get a steady paycheck. My current company is going down the tubes fast. I've hung in here as long as I possibly can, but I think it's an exercise in futility.
Does anyone at M-Modal or Nuance have any positive experiences, or is it really as bad as all the posts make it sound? Surely there must be "something" good, or they wouldn't have so man ...
My primary right now has a lot of work. I would like nothing more than to work until midnight and clear the work. Pre FIESA I would have done so.
However, I lost the production bonus for this quarter (and boy that hurts - that is $50-100 a week I am missing) and I am probably one error (and we know how easy that is when you are doing a lot of work) from getting next quarter's taken away, so no thank you. I assume they will get me anyway, probably the last few days of the month when I ...

Just wondering if this is a good VR platform? Thinking of applying to a company that uses this. Any information would be appreciated. I hate the thought of going to VR but that is all the jobs that are out there and I need a job. My previous employer just lost the account that I was working on. ...
I know this is not the place to look for positive answers, but I am going to try anyway. Worked for MQ years ago, but hated the punching in thing. I have tested with them recently, as I want to get into the field of voice recognition editing. Can anybody tell me about the part-time requirements, benefits, and the average line rate for editing? How much of your time is editing and how much is doing actual typing? What are the line requirements, and what happens if yo ...
Is anybody really making anything doing editing of work that somes from India. I was offered 5 cents to do it and was wondering if that was good. I have heard that the fixing of them reports are sometimes worse than the VR. I strongly feel it should be kept here personally. Any input would help in my decision. ...
I was wondering if anyone knew of any entry level editor jobs. I do have about 6 months of experience, but I am not sure where to look for a editor job online.
If anyone has any suggestions that would be great!
Thanks

I'm not talking about the official proofreader positions that people hire in as. I'm talking about VR "editing" - meaning, when you get those reports where VR does what it's supposed to, and you only need to add 1 comma, for instance, in the entire report - and you are zipping along at the 300-400 lph you were promised, as justification for the 50% pay cut on switch to VR...isn't that actually proofreading??
...but what about those OTHER reports...the ones that re ...
The reports I am reviewing are unbelievable! It would be easier to have transcribed them myself. Obviously, these reports were not transcribed by American MTs. It has been a jaw-dropping experience so far! ...
Medical Transcriptionist Week began May 20th to recognize MTs over a week. The theme this year: Patient Safety. MTs across the country are transcribing medical records and are dedicated to being a 1st-line defense against errors that can negatively and sometimes fatally affect you as a patient - physicians make mistakes. MTs ensure those errors do not end up in your Electronic Medical Record. Healthcare consumers are you aware that local hospitals are outsourcing their work to what are kno ...
