WARNING: Global Marketing Specialist Group Scam Job Ads - Moderator
Posted: Aug 27, 2010
A company called Global Marketing Specialist Group has been trying to post ads repeatedly. They are NOT an MTSO company. They want you to pay $165 for a "background check" and then they will give you a list of potential employers or clients.
They are trying to post more ads using alternative e-mail addresses such as gmsgtranscription@. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM. They are not being up front with you and are simply trying to make money from you. You should NEVER pay to work for a company. You should NEVER be required to purchase a list of potential contacts. You should NEVER have to purchase software or hardware from a company to work for them.
I have stressed this over and over to you but many of you either simply do not care or are not paying attention: DO NOT send your information to a company without researching it. It is up to you to protect yourself. MTStars can only do so much.
If a company does not post enough about its identity and location so that you know exactly who you are applying to and/or you cannot locate any information about them, you are taking a huge risk. Once your information is out there in their hands, you cannot retrieve it.
If you suspect a scam, please report it directly to the Moderator - this is the appropriate action to take.

I want all posters to be aware that this company has sent several threatening e-mails to MTStars with filthy language and threats of continued postings and "other headaches" if we do not remove their name from this site.
Another poster has complained that after he/she called their number and refused to pay the $165 fee, Global Marketing Specialist Group has called his/her home multiple times with childish pranks such as burping and hanging up.
Please make sure you spread the word about this most unprofessional behavior about this so-called company.
No professional company would ever conduct its business in this manner nor allow its employees to represent the company in this manner.

Global Marketing Specialist Group Aug 21, 2010Please beware of this company. They are literally preying on medical transcriptionists who are having a difficult time finding and keeping a good job (which I think is happening more and more to people who have been doing this for a long time). Anyway, I received an e-mail from them after 9:00 p.m. this evening, a phone call from them (which I didn't answer) and then an e-mail following the phone call. So we have blocked them. They want a fee from MTs, and they will ...

Well-got My Verbal Warning, Next Stop Written Warning !!! Apr 01, 2010I guess I'm possibly 2 weeks away from termination if I don't pass the next 2 audits. Trying to look at it as a blessing in disguise :) Never failed an audit in the over 10 years that I've worked for Medquist, or maybe I was never audited who knows. ...
Marketing Tips? Jun 25, 2013I will appreciate any marketing tips anyone can share. I'm a small MTSO and recently lost a client not due to EMR but the client went bankrupt and still owes me some invoices. I've tried cold calling which worked a few years back but nowadays it doesn't seem to work anymore. Thanks in advance. :) ...

NETWORK MARKETING VERSUS MT WORK May 21, 2010Just thought I would share an observation. Someone was talking to me about a job in sales, network marketing. The big complaint that I initially had against network marketing was based on what I had heard for many years, that it is like a pyramid setup where the guy at the top makes the most money. However, it turns out that with network marketing the guy at the top makes between 1% and 5%, where my profit on my own sales is between 25% and 50%.
In contrast, with MT work, I get less than ...

Cpl Rate For QC Specialist Feb 24, 2010Please don't ask me to read the board. I have. I just need a straight, honest answer and no bashing. I need to know if a cpl line rate is fair for QA. You have to send feedback, have some MTs on full edit, etc. I just don't see making any money, but I would like to hear from others who may be doing the same thing. Thanks a bunch!! ...

Patient Care Specialist? Aug 29, 2013The job posting on the job seeker's board sounds fishy to me. It says "no phone calls, please" but there's no phone number or company name even listed! I bet it's one of those scammers that want us to give THEM money, and then they'll let us work for them. ...

Is It Just Me, Or Do The Words Clinical Documentation Specialist Mean Jun 05, 2015Ahima certainly gives it a different spin than MT, and an article at Study.com lists desired or common requirements as associate's or bachelor's degree, with nursing, HIM, or health information technology, and medical coding expertise.
So where does Nuance get off expecting "lowly" MTs to do this stuff, with 100% flawless accuracy, on lowly MT pay having to Google everything? I mean, they do not even pay us enough to be "lowly" MTs, and yet expect us to Google and verify that do ...

Scam Ads Apr 21, 2011just curious... I see the scam ad for belly fat on main screen here now. This "julie" person does the exact same advertising for several products - same wording. There's no such person, no such TV station. If you look closely, top of screen has word ADVERTORIAL on status line. That is their blanket disclaimer that pretty much means it's all made up, not a factual person or situation. Just a story. Why is it on this site? ...

Transform Scam? Sep 28, 2010Is anybody else going through this? Transform used to be a great company, been there for years making good pay, good accounts. Lately they have just insituted this fancy new "pay" system where our base pay has been decimated but we get to make up some of it up by jumping through all these hoops, like typing more than 1000 lines gets you a percentage increase (percentage of what), using typing keyboard "shortcuts" gets you more crumbs here and there. In the end we really don ...
Possible Company Scam Dec 13, 2010Hello everyone,
I've never posted on here before, but a good friend suggested I do so. I've been working for a company, Astat Transcription, and I fear that they are not going to pay me the last two paychecks that I am due. I gave them two week's written notice of my intentions to leave and they asked me to continue working for two weeks, which I did. They tell me they sent me an email asking me to stop work on Nov. 30 and that they would mail my final check, bu ...
Why Is AHDI A Scam, You Ask? Aug 28, 2012It was a get-rich scheme from the very beginning. Brilliant, really. Except that when they championed the offshoring of our work, and the lowering of our wages, they made it so that most MTs with anything between the ears but empty space would question the value of the BOS, the validity of the CMT, and the very existence of this so-called "for-the-MTs" organization. S - Superficial,C - Contrived,A - andM - Meritless! ...
Potential Scam Sep 19, 2012I was contacted by a company wanting to interview by chatting. I did all that, and it sounded so great. Set your own hours, work as much as you want, etc. All I had to do to get started was pay $295 for the software they use. I did some fast Google searches in another window and decided not to. They pointed out that as an Independent Contracter, I was responsible for my own equipment. I pointed out that I bought my own hardware, which is almost universall ...

Accuray -- Scam? May 12, 2014I recently applied for a job on MTJobs.com and received a reply a couple of days later that asked me to add a friend to yahoo messenger for an online interview. I added the person and went through a 40+ minute interview process. At the end of the interview process, I was offered the position. They would be sending me the documentation in the mail. Along with this package there was going to be included a check for the computer system. I informed the person that I had ...

New Pay Scam Vs Old Pay Plan May 31, 2015They've been sticking me with 1 "error" just about every other week. That 1 "error" brings my pay down to just about 8 cpl, very close to minimum wage every other week.
I got to thinking. With the old pay plan I was getting the quarterly bonus almost every time. That means I had at least 99.5% accuracy for 3 months at a time. So I ran a report on my QA jobs for the past 3 months. My QA accuracy came to 99.6%. Same accuracy as on the old pay plan, but yet I'm such a bad transcrip ...
