Hello everyone,

I've never posted on here before, but a good friend suggested I do so. I've been working for a company, Astat Transcription, and I fear that they are not going to pay me the last two paychecks that I am due. I gave them two week's written notice of my intentions to leave and they asked me to continue working for two weeks, which I did. They tell me they sent me an email asking me to stop work on Nov. 30 and that they would mail my final check, but I have not received a check yet. I never received an email from them so I continued working, and technically they will owe me for an additional 5 days of work. When I call to talk to them about this I feel I am given the run around. There were many other things that were not right about the company, but this was my first experience working from home, and I have learned a very valuable lesson! I did everything correctly and honestly and now I am so distressed. It's right before Christmas and I was counting on the money that was due me. Any suggestions as to how I can proceed? I am in Ark. and they are in Florida.

I live in FL, and not all companies here are scams; in fact, I have worked for a couple of MT companies centered here and they are reputable businesses. We have a lot of government-owned companies here in FL. Any state can have scam companies and they do; this does not only relate to FL. You hear a lot of what happens down here, about criminals coming here to hide, which is true, but that happens all over. Sorry that some MTs have had such bad experiences, and I have had them too!! You definitely need to follow the advice regarding contacting the Attorney General in this state. Good luck to all of you.

Google attorney general Florida. It will show you how to contact them. There is a section on cyber crime and cyber fraud and perhaps you could file a complaint with them. That's enough already on transcriptionists getting victimized by out of state companies. Good luck to you and I'm sorry you have to go through this.

Thank you to those who responded to my previous post. I will definitely contact the attorney general. Is there a website where one can "get the word out" regarding this company, Astat Transcription? I am also considering contacting the hospitals I transcribed for. I never signed any thing with Astat stating I would not contact them directly. At this point I have nothing to lose and they may have a smidgen of credibility left... All I want is the money that is morally and ethically due me, which is about $700.00. That's a lot of money right before Christmas and seriously, without it my little grandkids are going to suffer for what this company, Astat Transcription, is doing to me. Kim Multop is the "President and CEO" according to their own website. Then on her Facebook page, she has some "Christian" links... This is the most frustrating thing I've had to go through. I believe in integrity and honesty and always doing the right thing if I've given my word about something. I did the work and just want to be paid!! Thanks for listening to me ramble...

Sorry to hear that you got "burned" by this Christian. I have worked for people like this too. I have found that the more they say that they are a Christian, the more I see that they are not. It is like standing in a garage and pretending you are a car. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I am thinking of working out of my house pretty soon, and I have been compiling a list of companies that I do not want to work for, so I will be sure to add them to my list. Different company, same scenario. I sent a certified letter to the company stating the steps I was willing to take to get paid which included contacting the Better Business Bureau, an attorney, filing a small claims case, etc. and that seemed to get results. I received a phone call stating they would pay but needed more time for various unacceptable reasons. I said I wanted paid period and gave a deadline. I even sent invoices monthly with late fees and in the end got paid in full, with the late fees. Just be prepared to follow it through to the end.

There's no such person, no such TV station. If you look closely, top of screen has word ADVERTORIAL on status line. They've been sticking me with 1 "error" just about every other week. That 1 "error" brings my pay down to just about 8 cpl, very close to minimum wage every other week. I got to thinking. This con artist is using indeed.com to advertise for MTs. They use various cities, state the job is for a F/T MT to be paid $13 to $15 per hour. They do not list a phone number or address, but list a legitimate business Web site.
