Question about Patient Communications Specialist position - Jenisue74

Posted: Apr 14, 2013

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has replied to the ad, worked for the company, or knows anyone who has. I wouldn't mind scheduling patients from home. Just wondering if they are good to work for, what the pay is like, etc. Anybody have any info?

A couple here have, or places like it or started/tried to. - sm

See links below for more info.  The news is not good, unfortunately.

I was hired by one of them and declined the offer. - see message

A couple of posts in the first link are mine. They were the nicest people I've ever met but they are just starting out so there are A LOT of kinks to be worked out yet. The hiring process was really weird and left me feeling like I wasn't getting all the information I needed.

They were really pushy about getting everything set up. The IT person checked my computer and said it was fine but the next day sent me a message that he needed to check my computer to see if it was compatible. Also, I wasn't given a lot of information that one normally receives during the hiring process (pay schedule, equipment needed, etc.)

I probably would have done it if I wasn't the sole provider in my family, but there were just too much secrecy and unanswered questions for me to feel comfortable depending on it for my only income.

Also, the hiring process took two days because you only get a little information/paperwork at a time, and I still had not gotten set up on their system.

I too was hired and was going to give it a try. They don't really explain everything until after you accept the job, turn in your paperwork, and then you start the videos and training, as that is when you realize how much time each call can take with all the screens you need to go through, other steps you need to take, logging the call, etc. I figured it out that even if you had back-to-back calls throughout an hour, you wouldn't even make minimum wage. So, while I will say the concept is interesting, the pay has a long way to go before it is a viable option to most people supporting a household.

Thank you to everybody! - Jenisue

You guys just saved me a LOT of trouble and heartache! And probably money, too.

I interviewed with them - sm

I am not sure if they just don't have all of the kinks worked out yet or what, but I gathered NOTHING from my interview.

They wouldn't/"couldn't" even give me a ballpark of the pay, stating it depends how many platforms you are trained on.

I was told that I would be scheduling CT scans, MRI etc. for various physician offices and asked if I would work 12-hour shifts, including weekends. Okay, so fine, but she said I would possibly have ONE day off during the week, so that would mean I would work at least 72 hours per week?? I mean, I'm all for it, at this point, if it is overtime, but when I asked her if it was overtime, she acted like I was stupid or something and told me no, I would "just work my set hours".

I don't know, all in all the interview just confused me and I think the recruiter was just as confused, so when I got an email wanting me to advance to the next step, I opted out. If there was that much confusion just in an interview, I could imagine the headache of working there.

The job posting on the job seeker's board sounds fishy to me.  It says "no phone calls, please" but there's no phone number or company name even listed!  I bet it's one of those scammers that want us to give THEM money, and then they'll let us work for them.  ...

Why Nuance Communications Ate A Poison Pill
Sep 20, 2013

I'm with this guy on how ridiculous Nuance's CEO pay is and I can actually understand this video, kind of. Nuance apparently enacted an anti-takeover provision limiting power of anyone with 20% or more share of stock to dilute their voting rights. They do not want that guy Icahn, who wants Apple to buy Nuance, to have power to persuade them to sell. Also, Nuance are apparently actually trying to protect their right to pay huge executive compensation way out of whack with performance ...

Dec 03, 2013

Here is an article of interest to stockholders of Nuance. Money quote:________ "For better or worse, every time you buy a stock, you're effectively endorsing the underlying organization's practices. If you are a Nuance shareholder, you're endorsing the fact that five executives have gotten rich at the expense of the company's profitability. This practice may have undermined shareholder wealth, which hasn't been to your benefit. In addition, this practice is not nec ...

Finally, after 2 days, I found the list of the new teams they created for communications and rewards.  The Rewards team will have it easy as there are no rewards.  All you need to know about winning a contest is to know who the names on the list of people they want to give a little extra to and you will have the winner.  It is nothing about meeting the criteria for the current game being played, it is all about favorites..   As far as communications, that is a differen ...

Please beware of this company.  They are literally preying on medical transcriptionists who are having a difficult time finding and keeping a good job (which I think is happening more and more to people who have been doing this for a long time).  Anyway, I received an e-mail from them after 9:00 p.m. this evening, a phone call from them (which I didn't answer) and then an e-mail following the phone call.  So we have blocked them.  They want a fee from MTs, and they will ...

Is It Just Me, Or Do The Words Clinical Documentation Specialist Mean
Jun 05, 2015

Ahima certainly gives it a different spin than MT, and an article at Study.com lists desired or common requirements as associate's or bachelor's degree, with nursing, HIM, or health information technology, and medical coding expertise.  So where does Nuance get off expecting "lowly" MTs to do this stuff, with 100% flawless accuracy, on lowly MT pay having to Google everything? I mean, they do not even pay us enough to be "lowly" MTs, and yet expect us to Google and verify that do ...
