Pediatric Care Specialist certification - Ginger

Posted: Sep 14, 2012

A job opening posted for Pediatric Transcriptionist and states must obtain Pediatric Care Specialist certification, company paid training.  Does anyone have this?  How does one obtain this certification and where?  Thanks for any information!

they made a big deal about this, and we had things to read on line, "tests" to fill out at the end. I did the first few, turned in my answers, no a peep from anyone, and never did go back to finish. No one has said a word. I think it is more for the client, to assure them we are able to do the work accurately, as it is much different from regular acute care. I learn more on the job than I do from reading that stuff.

P.S. - me again

I love my account and there is usually more work there than on other accounts, so I would say to go for it!

Thank you very much for the info! I am going for it. I do have peds experience and I love it. Is the platform hard?

sorry, didn't see your post until now. There is more than one peds account, but mine is on Bayscribe, which is over-simplified. No bells and whistles, but I like it (takes about 15 min to learn). However, no telling if that will be permanent either.

Patient Care Specialist?

The job posting on the job seeker's board sounds fishy to me.  It says "no phone calls, please" but there's no phone number or company name even listed!  I bet it's one of those scammers that want us to give THEM money, and then they'll let us work for them.  ...

MDI/Transcend Pediatric Care Cert
Mar 24, 2010

I must have missed something.  Today I get an email telling me I have to go through some certification process to work on an account I've been working on for the last several years.  Was this mentioned prior to this?  Nothing was said on the last conference call about it that I recall.  I think this is getting a little ridiculous.  First the mandatory conference calls, now this.  What's next? Seriously, I'm about ready to quit.  Maybe that' ...

Please don't ask me to read the board.  I have.  I just need a straight, honest answer and no bashing.  I need to know if a cpl line rate is fair for QA.  You have to send feedback, have some MTs on full edit, etc.  I just don't see making any money, but I would like to hear from others who may be doing the same thing.  Thanks a bunch!! ...

Another Sad Option For Medical Care Is Charity Care. Work With The People

...bills. Most Saint hospitals and others actually operate as non-profits, and for what they are screwing us over in taxes unpaid, they can afford to help out folks with their bills and still give their CEOs generous stock options and obscene salaries! Please beware of this company.  They are literally preying on medical transcriptionists who are having a difficult time finding and keeping a good job (which I think is happening more and more to people who have been doing this for a long time).  Anyway, I received an e-mail from them after 9:00 p.m. this evening, a phone call from them (which I didn't answer) and then an e-mail following the phone call.  So we have blocked them.  They want a fee from MTs, and they will ...

Is It Just Me, Or Do The Words Clinical Documentation Specialist Mean
Jun 05, 2015

Ahima certainly gives it a different spin than MT, and an article at Study.com lists desired or common requirements as associate's or bachelor's degree, with nursing, HIM, or health information technology, and medical coding expertise.  So where does Nuance get off expecting "lowly" MTs to do this stuff, with 100% flawless accuracy, on lowly MT pay having to Google everything? I mean, they do not even pay us enough to be "lowly" MTs, and yet expect us to Google and verify that do ...

Certification?
