THIS IS A SCAM ... I continued the conversation to the end but am reporting it as such, and will be turning over any materials sent to the local police.  Everyone should do the same.   His ad, i believe appeared on this site as well as MtJobs, but I see the ad has also been pulled, so it's obvious someone else figured out the scam.  He will say he's affiliated with CHS Community Health Systems; however, the emails and IMs do not come from that company.

Watch out for scams like this wherein they want you to deposit a check because it will be a fraudulant/bad check and to honor it your bank may cover it with your funds.

This scam goes around on employment websites, craigslist, etc.  Be careful of these idiots!  And the position offered 25 dollars per hour, which we all know our pay per line and hour has gone down in this industry over the last few years, so that had to be a red flag, lol!

I started getting suspicious immediately because the interview was by Yahoo IM. Every MT job I've been offered had the interview done by phone. I was still making $25-30 an hour up until 2011, so thought that MIGHT have been credible. I didn't let them get past the job offer. They had no answer for my simple questions such as how PTO is accrued, what are the paid holidays, what insurance, etc.

I got basically the same email but was told to speak with Sir Tom Robinson (Hiring Manager). What got me suspicious was the spelling, punctuation and grammar errors in the email. Below is the email I got.

It was a cute little e-mail though. I am going to get on yahoo and see what he has to say. I am interested to hear this and see how I can tear it apart!

Guess if the scammers are reading this they know now not to use "Sir". I really hope no one here got sucked in and scammed.

letter is the same - a31962

I received the same email reply to the job ad. I have multiple clients that I have never spoken to over the phone and have maintained solely email/im and dropbox relationships with, so that was not the immediate red flag, lol. There are still times that I can pull a good hourly rate, line rate or dollars per minute of sound rate, but I've never had an employee position offered up so quickly at the rate stated, and there was also the teaser that health benefits would be available after one month ... on what dream planet, lol? Google searches come up multiple times with the exact wording he used regarding depositing the check via cash machine to prove that you could handle it, and his name comes up in email searches if you do a + scam. What a loser ... perhaps they should consider getting a real job, but apparently there are enough people out there who fall for this scam, end up with the checking or savings accounts, in the red and learn the hard way. bleck!

Interveiwed ended quickly - txmom

Well...that was a quick interview. I told him I would not give him any personal information and it was over.

I called Community Health Systems - txmom

Possible Company Scam
Dec 13, 2010

Hello everyone, I've never posted on here before, but a good friend suggested I do so.  I've been working for a company, Astat Transcription, and I fear that they are not going to pay me the last two paychecks that I am due.  I gave them two week's written notice of my intentions to leave and they asked me to continue working for two weeks, which I did.  They tell me they sent me an email asking me to stop work on Nov. 30 and that they would mail my final check, bu ...

Scam Ads
Apr 21, 2011

just curious... I see the scam ad for belly fat on main screen here now.  This "julie" person does the exact same advertising for several products - same wording.  There's no such person, no such TV station.  If you look closely, top of screen has word ADVERTORIAL on status line.  That is their blanket disclaimer that pretty much means it's all made up, not a factual person or situation.  Just a story.  Why is it on this site? ...

WARNING: Scam Job Ads (SM)
Aug 27, 2010

A company called Global Marketing Specialist Group has been trying to post ads repeatedly.  They are NOT an MTSO company.  They want you to pay $165 for a "background check" and then they will give you a list of potential employers or clients.  They are trying to post more ads using alternative e-mail addresses such as gmsgtranscription@.   DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.  They are not being up front with you and are simply trying to make money from you.  You shoul ...

Transform Scam?
Sep 28, 2010

Is anybody else going through this?  Transform used to be a great company, been there for years making good pay, good accounts.  Lately they have just insituted this fancy new "pay" system where our base pay has been decimated but we get to make up some of it up by jumping through all these hoops, like typing more than 1000 lines gets you a percentage increase (percentage of what), using typing keyboard "shortcuts" gets you more crumbs here and there.  In the end we really don ...

Why Is AHDI A Scam, You Ask?
Aug 28, 2012

It was a get-rich scheme from the very beginning. Brilliant, really. Except that when they championed the offshoring of our work, and the lowering of our wages, they made it so that most MTs with anything between the ears but empty space would question the value of the BOS, the validity of the CMT, and the very existence of this so-called "for-the-MTs" organization. Potential Scam
Sep 19, 2012

I was contacted by a company wanting to interview by chatting.  I did all that, and it sounded so great.  Set your own hours, work as much as you want, etc.  All I had to do to get started was pay $295 for the software they use.  I did some fast Google searches in another window and decided not to.  They pointed out that as an Independent Contracter, I was responsible for my own equipment.  I pointed out that I bought my own hardware, which is almost universall ...

New Pay Scam Vs Old Pay Plan
May 31, 2015

They've been sticking me with 1 "error" just about every other week. That 1 "error" brings my pay down to just about 8 cpl, very close to minimum wage every other week. I got to thinking. With the old pay plan I was getting the quarterly bonus almost every time. That means I had at least 99.5% accuracy for 3 months at a time. So I ran a report on my QA jobs for the past 3 months. My QA accuracy came to 99.6%.  Same accuracy as on the old pay plan, but yet I'm such a bad transcrip ...

Avoid Sciance - It's A Scam
Apr 05, 2010

Sciance Transcription is a company sending most work to India, doesn't pay. I mean, I worked and I am not getting a paycheck.  I have had to file a complaint with Labor Commission.  They are not honest and do not communicate.  When asked if we get paid the 0.095 per line for the # we see...or...are they still deducting spaces from that number? They won't answer you.  They pay for black characters only,  so you could think you are getting paid for a 1000 li ...

Nuance Recruiting SCAM
Jun 20, 2011

Nuance recruited me with a promise of six paid holidays, the usual major U.S. holidays.  It includes these holidays in its (new) Employee Handbook.  However, I have just learned that Nuance does NOT provide paid holiday pay per se.  It provides a measley "incentive" of 25% above usual line pay only if one works the holiday.  STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY'S RECRUITERS.  This company's benefits are the worst I have seen in the industry.  Since hospitals have b ...

SCAM: Before Sending Your Resume... (sm)
Feb 09, 2014

This con artist is using indeed.com to advertise for MTs.  They use various cities, state the job is for a F/T MT to be paid $13 to $15 per hour.  They do not list a phone number or address, but list a legitimate business Web site. This one used nestrealty.com (legit and has nothing to do with the scammer) and a legit realtor's name Marjorie Adam who is in VA.  After sending your resume, they reveal this info, stating she is "also a realtor"  hmm, doctor and realtor on t ...

I recently received an E-mail to call a company who is hiring for a large oncology account.  The company's name does not sound like it would be an MTSO but rather a company that handles data for other companies.  I called the company, the person seemed very nice, but was not very informative about medical transcription or even the aspects behind hiring MTs.  There was no mention of a test.  Paperwork was sent to me.  Everything looked legit.  There was mention ...

Antivirus Scam Alert

On 10/8/13 I downloaded Antivirus Security Pro per instructions and they immediately charged my credit card $99.99.  It was started that I was automatically granted a 12-month access in which to re-download at any time.  When downloaded, there was an icon on the desktop and the program listed in the folder on C drive.  My old antivirus was still good, so I did not try to the product right away.  Around 11/1/13 did try it and it had disappeared, icon and program.  Tried t ...
