why is it after getting my productivity results - that I feel...

Posted: Jan 24, 2011

like such a failure?

Average lines per hour 250+ ASR (which I thought was pretty darned good for our ASR), and average inactive time 1.0 per report.

In the space of the past week, I find my daughter telling me I do not do a proper job in taking care of her son, my husband tells me that his house has never been messier and that I dont care for myself anymore, after scrubbing the carpets my cat puked all over the place as if to prove "I missed a spot" and then the productivity results magically appear reinforcing my failure in life.

Some days, falling asleep in a running car in the garage sounds blisful.

I can't get close to 250 per hour on my ASR - You are Superwoman!

I have been feeling sorry for myself today. Been doing all level 3, mostly non-english-speaking, hard, hard, hard. Really long day for no money.

Great numbers! (Striving to get that fast. To accomplish this with kids at home, you are to be commended!)

no, my kids are not at home - and...

if these are such great numbers, why are they telling me to improve. I would seriously love to know the company wide numbers for all of the transcriptionists so I know where I fall. Additionally, how on earth am I supposed to improve this? I do the absolute best I can! The ASR sucks.

It is not like I am paid hourly and taking an extra 20 minutes on my lunch break for the love of all that is holy. I get paid per line! Don't you think that I want to be as productive as HUMANLY possible?

What is the matter with this company?

those who can't do send out emails - NJA Queen

[ In Reply To ..]
As I stated in a post below my old worthless QC was the one who sent me my email. You know what I did with this email- delete. She is not the one to be lecturing on improving work production or minimizing distractions.

The problem with most companies (not just MT companies) is that the suits and people in offices think of stupid ways for the lowly serfs to increase production, whether it be practical or not. You have to learn to take the advice or statistics they give you, use what can help you and ignore the rest. They will never send out company numbers or average numbers because it is a strategy of theirs to try to keep us all second guessing ourselves. If you know you are doing your best then leave it there. Delete that email so you don't see it every time you check your email and just keep working. MQ also knows that we are isolated and emails like this serve no purpose but to increase the paranoia of Am I doing enough or Why are my numbers so low/high? I would rather they send out tips like they used to rather than these emails that serve no purpose. Hang in there.

well you've got me beat by about 100 lines per hour. - Nobody complains about my

production (except me when I get my piddly paycheck). I think they know my accounts are horrible and just happy to get it done however.

Here's what I do when that happens to me - BizzyMT

Whenever my kid/spouse/parental unit, etc., makes reference to something I did wrong, here's my standard comeback:

"Well, let me know when I do something RIGHT so I can alert the media, okay?"

Yeah, not a very imaginative comeback but you know? It shuts them up every time for some reason. Of course, I make sure I say it with a big "who gives a rat's tail?" smile and giggle as I leave the room...

Hang in there!

1 - tell the daughter to take care of her own son, then, or consider hiring a nanny or an au pair.

2 - Tell the husband "Well, since both of us work, then let's split the housework 50/50, or else go 50/50 on a housekeeper."

As for the cat, although you can't eliminate that problem altogether, try feeding Petromalt hairball relief paste. They now make a new, petroleum-free, chicken-flavored product that my cats are crazy about. I feed a little bit every day, since they're long-haired and shed a lot. The older one grooms a lot and is prone to barfing up hairballs. I find that letting her have some on my finger a couple times a day helps her to pass more of them out the other end, rather than throwing up all the time.

Anyway, there's nothing more irritating than having someone point out what you're "doing wrong" all the time. I once rented a room in a house, and the landlady was like that. I never cleaned the house well enough. I could spend all day cleaning the bathroom after her sloppy daughter came home from college for the weekend and trashed it, and she'd look in and sniff, "The bathroom is a SHAMBLES!" simply because the clean towels I'd put out were not to her liking, color-wise. If I cooked dinner, she'd always say something bad about it. If she even ate it at all. Sometimes she'd ask me to make dinner, I'd spend all afternoon doing my best to make a decent dinner, and she'd say she "didn't like" what I'd made, and then proceed to make herself and her daughter something else.

To top it off, she was one of those evil people who, even when she was supposedly giving you a "compliment", would word it in such a way that you ended up feeling even worse about yourself after she complimented you. I like to think there is a special place in Hell for people like that.

I homeschool my 7th grader, work full time for MQ, teach at church twice a week, etc. Everyone struggles so much. All we can do is our best - anything else is unrealistic. My house isn't spotless. I only produce around 195 lines per hour - but take 15 minute breaks each hour for my sanity. I mega-coupon to save money (about $200 savings per month). If my family complains about a dirty house, I tell them to do something about it. If they don't, then so be it. It will get clean when and "if" I feel like it. Don't get discouraged by what is impossible. Pray for God to guide you each morning - to be at peace with what you can accomplish and not to worry about what you cannot. Trust in God and He will provide - maybe not money, but blessings in other ways. I'll pray for you if that is okay. The last line of your post makes me sad - I know you are not serious, but still. Find Bliss in God - seriousy.

Thank you all for responding - I feel....

I never thought I would be doing this job for 10.00 an hour, but that is what it has come to, 250 x 0.04 = $10.00.

I work my behind off for what my daughter makes at the pizza place.

Thanks for listening to my vent and not judging me. Makes it a little easier.

it's not my productivity results - missindale

[ In Reply To ..]
It's my quality scores. It's the SR. I know if I was typing, I wouldn't make so many stupid mistakes. It's no one's fault but my own (although I do wonder sometimes if what they consider a "major" error is really that "major", but I'm too beat down to challenge any of it). Need to find some other line of work. Guess I'm not as good at this as I thought.

Productivity???
Jun 14, 2012

I just don't get it.  When they started doing these productivity checks, I was at aan "inactive time" of a whopping 40% . . . or so they said.  I have steadily improved it every week and have dropped it down to 18, then 15, then 9, 9 and again 9.  However, my pay hasn't changed.  Doesn't that seem extremely odd?  Are we being cheated? ...

Is Is Just Me, Or Is This New PRODUCTIVITY
Jul 13, 2013

CALCULATOR just of a stupid waste of time.  I use a notebook, pencil, and calculator to track all the info I need to make sure I make my line count. I wonder how much time was spent and how much $$$ was paid to come up with this waste of time.  We actually do real work, but a lot of employees at MModal seem to have difficulty justifying their (probably much larger than our) paychecks ...

FTR - The Immediate Results ....
Apr 03, 2010

I almost sent a report to QA.  The only reason I didn't was because it was a high line count document and I couldn't risk the possible submission rate due to its high line count.  Not very wise choice of how to grade the submission rate MQ.  I don't like sending a document to the client with blanks, but there comes a time when self protection kicks in.  PM likes the FTR low QA submission rate.  We will see how PM likes it when the clients starting noticing ...

Productivity Question
Apr 07, 2010

Does anyone out there have their productivity bonus taken away if you make too many errors? For example, where I work if an incorrect date is put on a report or if a report is typed on the incorrect encounter we lose QA points. That then is added to the random QA done every month and if you go below a certain percentage you do not get your productivity bonus. Just wondering if this is standard? ...

Increasing Productivity
May 22, 2010

Anyone know any good advice on increasing productivty using Medrite or just in general? I have been working for almost a year since graduating and i'm getting better slowly but surely, but i'd like to see more progress, as my pay rate is on the low side and I figured if I can be faster than I can kind of give myself a raise. Any help would really be appreciated. ...

And Another Thing About That DQS Productivity BS...
Nov 30, 2010

Gross Lines?  Net Lines?  What exactly does that mean.  Should net lines be more?  If I really average what they say I do, I should be making 27/hour???  I times the net lines by my rate = 27.  Well, that is for SURE not the case.  I only wish.  And what difference does it make whether we use the mouse or not IF that is the most efficient way?  Will their ridiculousness never cease to amaze me?  ...

Productivity Report And Job Log

Inconsistencies on slider bar. (they're never wrong.....WRONG) No time allo ...

Do The Productivity Numbers Really Add Up?
Apr 13, 2011

My actual ASR lph and what they say I could do if there wasn't any "inactive" time is usually almost double. I have no idea how I can humanly close that gap. And yes, I am not using the dreaded mouse. I put my nose to the grind stone with absolutely no inactivity due to doing anything other than edit, and yet, I still come up with the lph they report I am doing rather than what they think I should be able to do without any inactivity. Interesting that this time they had a mouse click re ...

DEP MT's And ASR Productivity Statistics

Does anyone get emails weekly or every other week with their statistics for DEP and ASR?  I've been getting these and it includes suggestions to get more productivity such as, using left/right arrows, ctrl+shift+left, etc.  It also give me total gross AST activity length, length of time an ASR job is open, length of time spent making changes to an ASR, total inactivity length.  I don't know what to think about this, except that they want more work out of me. ...

Productivity Time
May 10, 2012

Just curious .  .  . was anyone else shocked by an extremly high inactive time on their productivity report?  I was given an inactive time of a whopping 42%!!!!!!  How could that possibly be when I've never even been repriomanded for not producing enough?  So if this inacive time is accurate, that would mean that out of 8 hours a day, I am somehow sitting here for over 3-1/2 hours not working, and yet somehow still meeting my line quota?  Just wondere ...

Speeding Up Productivity

I am looking for suggestions to speed up my productivity. I have been with a company going on 7 months. Besides the fact that I have had numerous problems with their Service Manger, which has slowed my production, but I also use Dragon Speech; not only does that help with accuracy, but production. Productivity: Am I Too Conscientious?

I was an IC for 20 years before having to work for a service.  I hated to have to leave a blank and in the beginning would spend a half hour searching references (pre-internet) not have to leave a blank.  This became a habit I find hard to break.   Although the MTSOs require you research previous reports to try to get a clue as to what mumble mouth is trying to say, is there really time for that when we have to meet production demands?  With good dictators I do 200 to 300 LPH ...
