Be sure you have enough work hours every 12 months to get family medical leave if you need it. You will need to have 1250 hours for the past 12 months. If you work the 24-hour work week, you will have 1248 hours, missing two hours. While Medquist of course has the discretion of giving you family medical leave even with the 1248 hours, they are not required to do that. Then you will either have to let your relatives who need your help manage without you or lose your job. At your CCM's discretion you can get 5 emergency days and/or up to 2 weeks to make up any hours you miss (I have no idea how that works with the swap shit I mean shift).
If you have worked for Medquist for years, have 98% plus audits, work extra hours or jump in when you are needed, work hours that are needed (weekends), none of this will matter.
I found this out when my 90-year-old mother fell out of bed last week fracturing her right hand which is now in a cast for six weeks, and injured her left hand. We are still working on getting her a home health aide. I live two hours away, and she needs help with ADLs so until she gets a home health aide, I am the only person who can help her. I work weekends, so even if I wanted to adjust my days to accommodate my mother, I was told I cannot do that - I must work at least Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Check your time to make sure that you will have that 1250 hours or you too will be given the old Medquist stick.
