Does anyone have experience with going out on short-term disability for a medical procedure while employed by ImedX?  Curious if you came back to the same schedule you went out with, if you came back at all, and how many hoops you had to jump through with HR?  I've heard of at least one person who was let go for this reason, but I believe that is an illegal practice.

I informed my supervisor mid-December that I needed carpal tunnel surgery and would need the entire month of January off. She said it wouldn't be a problem, and it wasn't for me. I returned on time and with the same schedule.

Be sure you have enough work hours every 12 months to get family medical  leave if you need it. You will need to have 1250 hours for the past 12 months. If you work the 24-hour work week, you will have 1248 hours, missing two hours. I just had a chance to see the NextGen EHR demo videos.  The incentives for using EHR from the insurances companies are huge.  It amounts to $3,000 per doctor per month.
