we have dictators who compose sentences such as this:
"A xx-year-old female accompanied by daughter in secondary to within the last week has run out of her amlodipine, Prozac and clonidine anywhere from 3-5 days ago each of these."
I kid you not, that is what this doctor said. American doc, speaking clear English. Now tell me, what am I supposed to do with that? It is a verbatim account, but the last time I let some gobbly gook like that go through I got chewed out for it (!) even though the account was verbatim. I was told I should have cleaned it up so the dictator didn't appear to be a moron (ok, so not in those exact words, but you get the point).
I would love to leave it as is (as far as I'm concerned, that is what I'm supposed to do (verbatim!)) however, the perfectionist in me wants to clean it up; recast the sentence to make it grammatically correct. Either way, I feel doomed.
You cannot win with this company!
