Rate increases - Mt

I am sure most of us expected an increase in our healthcare costs...been a couple years since they have increased. I think now might be a good time for them to consider giving the MTs a rate increase..,when is the last time that has gone up? The cost of everything else has gone up but our pays have not...they have even gone down for alot of us.

I have not had a raise since January 2000... almost 15 years! I would love to see just one suit give up their raise for me this year!

In January 2000 when I got my raise, I was bringing home $1600 twice a month, straight typing, one account. Now, 15 years later, $520 every other week, all ASR, over 14 accounts!

Why did I make this okay? 18 years of service means nothing.

It is so sad to what has happened to a once lucrative occupation that one could take pride in...am embarrassed to tell anyone what I do now as an MT, HDS, or whatever new initials they want to throw our way.

I've only had a raise ONE TIME in 16 years.

TWO ... if you count how they sold QA work as a "raise".

Just curious about this as the new increases in some states are more than what a lot of MTs make hourly, i.e. Seattle, Washington, $15.00 an hour. This won't affect me personally, but I wonder how MTSOs will be handling this situation. If an employee is paid on production but is an employee and not an IC, if she lives in Washington or another state where minimum wage is higher than what she is producing, how does an MTSO handle this? ...

I recently read a job posting that required 150 lph for straight type and 225 for VR - Does this make sense ? These companies are using the excuse that we should be able to produce "twice as many lines" with VR - thus - HALF the pay. On a report to us today that someone had a 700+ LPH rate. When I questioned it, I was told that they didn't know how that could be either, it was on the management report they got. If QC is over 10%, then the pay is 7/3.5 pennies a line. If it's that amount and the speed is just about 100 lines or a little over that an hour, I think that would amount to below minimum wage, wouldn't it? So I think the 7/3.5 pennies a line pay rate automatically is equivalent to MUP--unless the MT is very speedy. 7/3.5 pennies a line pay rate is pretty ridiculous.
