Transcription sadly is not the field to go into these days...the jobs are outsourced overseas and if you do happen to find work in the USA it is usually only a matter of time before it is outsourced too...I have done transcription of 15 years and can't find work in any state and I am relocatable...not dealing with M-Modal or any of these other bogus companies! If you ever find a legit one please tell me!

The bottom line is there IS money, but it's directed in the wrong direction.

I guess I should be thankful that we didn't get cut to 8/4 as many were predicting. However, it is a bitter pill to swallow knowing all the time and money spent these last 9 months doing a "comprehensive compensation review; this review will be inclusive of speech recognition, traditional transcription, technology, draft quality, incentives, account and dictator variances, workflow, PTO and benefit options, and professional development opportunities" and mentioning how much we are needed the best they came up was the $10 spot reward. After all that?
Claiming the technology they bought after they cut our pay is not really a reward, just a reshuffling of money. Claiming benefits paid out to only a few people as a reward (and a lousy 401K match at that) is just their guilt speaking.
So I guess I will be grateful I didn't take a 33% pay cut today and learn my lesson loud and clear. Reward plan from andmmodal is an oxymoron, like jumbo shrimp.
Do not be surprised if they don't go ahead and cut our pay anyways. - mom2huskies

MModal never cuts pay on conference call, they just send out emails. One year they cut our ASR pay rate right before Christmas. Heartless.
Here is the sad thing. As Mmodal gobbles up more of the pie they basically are the industry standard. So they will not be able to use that as the excuse since they set the rates but I would not be surprised to see them use something else as an excuse to not pay us any more money.
I keep my expectations low. That way, I am - never disappointed. sm
