New TSMs istruction for working Thanksgiving. Does this - sound right. We are being

told to clock in at beginning when scheduled.  If no work, clock out.  Then it states to check back EVERY 30 minutes.  If there is work clock in and begin working.  When there are no more jobs clock out.  Keep doing this until end of shift.  Isn't this requiring us to be available for 8 hours but unpaid (most likely)?  Doesn't this even go against MModal's current policy on no work available?  

They cant do this. Your TSM is trying to pull a fast one. Just do - usual NJA, noliday doesnt change that. nm

check for work on the holiday, if there was no work then TO FEEL TO ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY WITH YOUR FAMILY... I am going to search for that email.. So I took that to mean we only had to check at the beginning of our shift and if no work, then to use NJA... hmmm.. now they changed their minds because they don't want to be left with NO ONE working just in case some stats come in and have no coverage.

That was how the holiday was handled under old - TSM. I get the feeling new one has no clue. Also

just sent numerous emails yesterday detailing how to do handle NJA, with that being one of them. Work availbility is certainly still to be used.

under Human Resources, polices and procedures I believe. I would just ignore this, do what the policy says and if she gives you a hard time afterwards then send her the policy and escalate the situation.

After 15 minutes of no work during your shift you can CHOOSE to go unpaid, take PTO or make up hours. If you choose to sit there and babysit the computer because it is time and a half tomorrow it is because you want to, not because your TSM is telling you to. You can also punch out after 15 minutes of no work, take PTO and enjoy your day which is exactly what I plan to do.

The other poster is right, save the email. You just may need it.

I used to wait for and do work as it came in, but I was paid for every minute I was waiting. This at a past MT job.

If everyone is off for the day because of 15 minutes of NJA and filing a ticket for NJA, then no stats will get done :) Plus, plenty of late jobs. It would probably be cheaper to pay 1 or 2 people from each BOB to be available for stats and checking for jobs throughout their shift.

old CCM (who she replaced) had us do it the usual way with NJA protocol. I logged in to work this morning and already there was no work so I don't imagine tomorrow will be any different.

I was never told of a way to check for work available or not available. I just log on and nothing comes through then no work available.... I have no clue what I am getting, always a surprise what account I am getting next.

all you have to do is look under Find jobs, then on the right there is a box where you can highlight only to look for jobs that are pending Transcription and Pending ASR. On the left you highlight the account you are looking for or don't highlight and get the info for all the accounts in your queue. It is a snap to see the jobs. You can even click at the top of the due column and it will show you the jobs in order of when they will load.

I know in some states, all they have to give is 24 hour notice of a change and it is legal, such as holidays and overtime. Holidays are not the same as regular work days. Things are done differently because of that. I hate it too but that is just the way it is.

I bet you hear nothing about it cause, let's face it, what can she do? What she wants is irrelevent. MM policy is what has to be done or the company can be in trouble. Vern knows he cannot expect us to sit here for 8 hours hoping a job will come in. Policy is what it is for a reason. You might even have the policy, as listed on the homepage, somewhere where you can quickly access it, in case you need to "remind" her of how NJA is handled.

I would check for work and follow the procedure for - NJA, then I would log off

no work (it was already low and no work when I signed in at 7 this morning). I know tomorrow will be a repeat. Don't these TSMs undergo at least some kind of company policy training? I wonder if she realizes the position she is putting Mmodal in from a legal standpoint. I will get on at 8 AM tomorrow as per my schedule. If there is nothing there then all I can say is see ya later alligator. I'm not wasting my entire day chained to my chair free of charge. I have company in from out of town and I plan to spend the day with them (if there is no work).

As more and more MTs lose their jobs to offshoring, I don't think the TSMs are realizing that they are becoming expendable quickly too - No US MTs mean no US supervisors. The hospitals and clinics will have to talk to India to complain about their reports, dial 1 for English (sort of) and then hold for the next available representative for the next 20 minutes. we're told internet outage is not acceptable reason not to work and to find alternative such as WiFi, etc. in a not so nice tone.  Now we're told this is NOT acceptable (use of WiFi) as according to company policy.  Make up your mind will ya?  This TSM deserves a critical error deduction for misinformation (and the attitude).   Shouldn't they be required to know company policy before taking on their position?  ...
