has already started this morning.  Not for me though.  I have decided that it is not in the best interest of #1 the patients mainly, #2 the clients, and very last and least of importance, #3 MM to expect contract demands to be met with this company's current guidelines in place AND be able to do a professional job on a legal document when it is highly likely that mistakes WILL be made when accounts are submitted to MTs in such a sporadic manner and expect perfection ALL the time.  The few emails I have received this week were from PCs stating quality issues and that quite a few clients have complained about the increased lack of quality of reports, not about the TAT.  Several clients have submitted long lists of reports that had increased critical errors and major errors.  Well what else do you expect when we are having to someone else's accounts just to make our regular shift?  What else do you expect when 1 client has a CP that's as long as the constitution and bill of rights put together and another client has maybe a 2 paragraph CP?  What else do you expect when the MTs need to meet their lph, have to have very little inactive time, have to read the CP, learn the dictators, relearn their own dictators, research, etc. and so on and on and on? 

I have started job hunting for something in my home town instead of working for MM.  I'm too young to retire and too old to start all over with a new career.  I just cannot do this anymore with MM.  I have never been so disappointed and discouraged in how a company has been run as I am about MM over the last 5-10 years.  In the beginning when I started working with Medquist it wasn't so bad, but now, UGH.  The constant manager hopping, constant CEO hopping, constant lack of respect for the employees is degrading, constant account hopping and still expecting the same, it's just too much. 

I'm physically sick today, headache and stomach cramps, and have been crying since I started working 2 hours ago over it all.  I am emotionally burned out and exhausted. 

If my HDSM, TSM, PC, QRS, TUV had answered the phone when I called this morning I would have quit on the spot, but as usual they won't answer.

Speaking of the CP, how about the profile where something isn't listed in there and yet you get hit for it on an audit, ie, there's one dicator that is supposed to be verbatim, but no where on the CP does it state that. I know the argument can be made that gives you a reasonable argument, but we in the trenches know that is not the case.

Don't let MM win. Think of it this way, if you leave MM and go to another company you will have to learn all new accounts too. Down below it says that RW was never an MT, so that explains why she has deleted all the individual groups and now we have literally 100s of hospitals to type for. I know you are upset, but just remember THIS TOO SHALL PASS. Just do your best on each job and be patient, it probably will not last and if nothing else you will get quicker as the days go on.

The ridiculous demands is one of the reasons I quit earlier this year. Even though I had been an employee in the business for 25 years, I decided to go to IC after realizing how inhumane MM's schedule is. As someone said above in another topic - who can sit staring and clacking away at a computer for hours with no breaks because your keyboard time is monitored and you'll have to add break time on at the end of your long day (and we're paid on PRODUCTION!). Add to that, editing VR gibberish but hoping not to miss an "a" or a "the", dealing with offshore audits, 20 primaries, pages of specs, working every holiday, etc.? Found a small, family-owned company with a flexible schedule, straight typing, assigned accounts, and great QA (no nitpicky grading, just there to help the MT with questions, blanks, and feedback). What a change in stress level. There is hope!

I really miss my HDSM. She was really great about answering my phone calls and e-mails. Also she had MT experience.

I am getting tired of the constant changes and getting nothing in return. MM needs to realize it is in the best interest of the client and the people who do the actual work that we at least get the same account. I can see having a back up account or two, but not completely different hospitals for every job.

I would also think that in order to be an HDSM THAT YOU HAVE MT EXPERIENCE.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. My HDSM is MW and I don't hear from her often enough to know anything about her. Guess that could be a good thing.

Sister, do I feel your pain! As a 32+ year veteran of the MT world (10 years at my last hospital before they decided to outsource with MM), I have been introduced to the concept of speech recognition and I'M HATING IT!!! How on earth can anyone maintain 99.5% accuracy when being shuffled between 4 or 5 different accounts, with client profiles differing with each client and work type, and lousy quality dictation - and don't forget the pittance paid per line for editing and even straight on transcribing! At .05 per line, one would have to produce 300 lines/hr at 99.5% accuracy to make $15 per hour. My intention was to work the 90 days at my guaranteed prevailing wage, but after 3 weeks, I've decided "it just ain't gonna happen" and I'm too stinking old to kill myself for Corporate America! I'm SO done! Thank God I am 67 and have a little nest egg, so my survival does NOT depend on my working (although admittedly, I will have to stay out of Michael's and Joann's more than I'd like). Good luck to you - I hope you find something that makes more sense than the promises made by M*Modal!

I am not sure if this is going on with your accounts, but I have noticed on my primary that there are a lot of old reports in there, from days and days ago.  A few weeks back my team leader said ignore those TAT times because they were pulling old stuff for "training."  It started with DS, and now I notice that there are old H&Ps and Consults in there.  So I am wondering if they are training Transcend employees to do my account, maybe VR, or I guess it could be the hospital tr ...

Did anyone ever contact a hospital after your account was lost to find out where it went and you were still employed with the former MTSO that had the account.  Concerned about doing this if the hospital were to contact the MTSO and still employed there but not overly happy anymore.  I would rather keep this confidential until I at least find out if the new MTSO is even hiring for the account, etc.  ...

I currently provide transcription to various speciality clinics using a call-in system for the dictation, typing in Word and uploading via FTP site.  I was contacted by a hospital to do their transcription.  They asked if my transcriptionists could type in their VPN program.  Can anyone tell me how I would do QA on this then?  This would be a new system to me and I really want the account.  ...

Ouir BOB lost another large account and now there are too many MTs.  So, about 8-12 are being moved.  The account that I transcribe is going to be almost 100% ASR, and the account is being transferred to the Canadian MTs.  Apparently the poor Canadians don't have enough work.  They do, however, get free health insurance.  Now we not only have to worry about the Indians, but the Canadians too.  I can guarantee they are being paid less.  ...

The doc has contacted me and we are to meet today at his office.  He has such a heavy accent, I could hardly understand what he was saying.  He is in need of a transcriptionist, and has 50 charts needing to be transcribed.  Not sure what type of equipment he has as of yet, but obviously he must have some kind.   How do I charge him.  I thought about by the line at maybe 12 cpl, but his accent is so heavy, I am thinking it will take me a while before being productive ...
