I'm looking for things I can take to a pawn shop to hock today in an effort to pay my electric bill before shut off so I can keep working. I'm forced into bankruptcy and ask risk of losing my home due to the miniscule illegal wages we are paid for editing. The MTSO has not even responded to my last questions about account preferences, and notification of a technical error in the software, yet has the nerve to send me a snarky email bitching about my 100% accurate report for a mistake obviously made by the doctor! Who do these morons think they are anyway???

First of all, if you are so sick of reading complaints about MTSO, why read them?

Secondly, it sounds like you are not aware that this is a problem with nearly all the MTSOs.

Lastly, You have no idea what my personal situations is (health, location, ability to find another job, etc) and to blame the editor for low wages sounds like it could only come from an MTSO. The root of the problem is simply greed.

All I say, you the only one that can make yourself victim - & you the only one who can change it. nm

What I find really bizarre is to test well, get a job offer, be told the paperwork will be emailed then never hear another word . . . or, get a job offer then never be able to get back in touch with the recruiter.

At any rate, if you have a local community action agency you might check about their emergency funds. They paid a humongous utility bill for me once and it got me over the hump. They are even going to help me with some repairs that need done on my house

If OP stays with this MTSO, getting over the hump wont - be enough. Will keep happening. nm

It would been my first step through the pawn shop door but at least I made it into my 60's before having to do this.

Great news: Finally got a hold of a human with the electric co. who agreed to re-write the past due balance so I keep working.

Your kindness in offering advise, however, is very much appreciated!

Gotta vent while awaiting manager response. I do this report yesterday that required a cosigner, who I could not understand the name of. I just have to vent.....the thing that I cannot stand most about this job - even more than the pay, the lack of work, etc....is when the dictator CHEWS GUM when he/she is dictating. The sound of someone smacking their gum, whether in person or on the phone, makes me CRAZY. I just finished a day where half it was spent on an ESL dictators doing short progress notes using VR, so had to change almost EVERYTHING. No lines to speak of. Venting session! I am a part-time work-at-home transcriptionist employed at a local hospital as "resource". When I started a couple months ago we had over 1500 jobs in the "cue" with mandatory overtime ... then along came EPIC. The regular employees are working in 2 hour shifts so everyone can get a few reports in ... having under 75 dictations has become the norm and there isn't enough work for them ... and I have had no work for 6 weeks. ...

I just came across "Benzapril" listed as a medication that Speech Wreckignition picked up. Granted, that is how this doctor pronounced it, but it should be "benazepril." When will you MTSOs wise up and realize that pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages of account specs for nitpicky docs SLOW DOWN YOUR MTs? Save those for part-timers or newbies. The experienced "oldies" have done their graveyard and weekend time. There are actually some companies who "get" that. That would make things much easier for us to plan ahead the rest of our shift; whether to sit there and wait for work, or if we only will be working part of a shift and the work runs out, or if we can sign out and do other things in our personal life that need to be done.
