Something else ~ since I have no work during my scheduled shift. I too got an email from my TSM (or whatever they are called now) asking if I could change my Wednesday to Sunday. Thought it was strange just out of the blue, but as I sit here with no work and barely enough to get my time in yesterday, I am starting to wonder something. Do y'all think that India requested more work during the week and that is why they are scrambling around asking for us to change our schedules? I'll bet you anything that is what happened. After all, we are considered second-class to India. We just get the sloppy seconds! Sorry, but I suddenly have a lot of free time! Don't bash me for mentioning India either. I am not blaming them. I'm blaming this sorry excuse for a company!

Ultimately though, M*Modal could put a stop to some of it, but they are not going to. I blame them.

know that MM is sending over the work to India for cheaper labor. Not all of the accounts would care, but I'll bet some of them do. I would love to see a letter go out to all the accounts letting them know how MM is treating their employees.

I am still taking offense to Shaw's recent email where he said a new kind of "knowlege worker." I have no idea what that stinking name is. I am a professional, a Medical Transcriptionist with an education and experience.

that you've done something. I do not mean that to be sarcastic in any way.

So many people on this board make posts of "somebody ought to..." and there's no reason you can't be "somebody."

Go ahead and do it, mass mailing of the same informational letter to whomever. Send it to several people in the same facility so that it's sure to be seen.

Whether anything is done with that information or not, at least you've done what you thought you could to help. Some places actually may not be aware, or maybe the right department is not aware of what the bean counter department is doing.

If you feel that strongly about it, go ahead. It could just be the thing that the right person notices at the right time, and finally wake somebody up about this mess.

of the MT industry. our days are very, very numbered. Check the Nuance board. I don't give it 5 more years before there is no such thing as an MT. with EHR Dragon doctors dictate, watch the computer type and make corrections before the report is final. They don't need us. It will just be a while before all hospitals will convert over. some of them (like my accounts) are just now going over to SR.

I'd rather see the responsibility go to the docs, than these horrible, horrible reports I see coming in from India every single day.

And personally, after listening to these guys for 30 years and trying to figure out what they are saying, I've about had enough anyway.

this is not like some new regulation. They have a choice to send work there. Don't blame the MT companies. they are greedy but hospitals are greedier. Whose fault is it we don't work in house in the first place?????????????

eaten up by the lawsuits that will start coming in once all the transcription errors made by SR or India come home to roost.

The more hospitals trust SR or the providers pointing and clicking, it's all going to blow up in their faces at some point.

From now on when I go to a doctor, there had better NOT be any typing while I'm talking, or I'm going to come out at some point and say "excuse me, but are you even listening while you're typing? You're hearing me, but are you listening?"

Then I'll tell the billing dept and administrators that I'm cutting their bill for the time the provider spent typing and not listening. How can they give quality care when they're busy typing? I'm going to b*tch a major fit at the admins and it may not do any good, but the admins wil at least know what the patients think and I'll be able to vent.

Too bad it's patients who will suffer, but I sure would be glad to see some of these hospital administrators try to explain why those errors happened that affected patient care.

lawsuits - MT Gone

I had hoped to be able to ride out the storm till the lawsuits started, and there would once again be the need for humans who didn't just type, but actually listened to what was being said. I still believe the lawsuits will come one day; however, I couldn't wait. The last few months being an MT (I'd even gone to PT so I could work more hours elsewhere at more $$)nearly drove me to the brink of despair. I miss being an MT, loved the work, but in the end I had to move on. :-(

I had an account that was strict transcription only back in February. Went to ASR and then disappeared completely within a week. I told TSM and it was no big deal, thanks for telling me, nothing came back or changed. Gone forever.

OK....this is what really pisses me off.....we are asked to "know" 75 pages of acct. specificis, 20+ pages of MTS specifics and the BOS, PLUS each individual acct. has their own way they want things, plus being "English Majors" for these reports and you are only paying us 4 cpl!!!? Gotta vent while awaiting manager response. I do this report yesterday that required a cosigner, who I could not understand the name of. The resident goes on to say the name of the cosigner again at the end of the report, but I still could not understand it (ESL). I just have to vent in the middle of this dictation where the dictator, a nurse, whispers the whole way through the dictation (not just this one but all of her dictations) and says "uh" at least 4 or 5 times per sentence in this very long dictation. ARGH! Doing a LONG report and this doc must've gotten NO sleep last night b/c she is constantly trying to dictate THROUGH HER YAWNING....soooo frustrating. I actually like the job. The dictators are fine. I'm a month into the job and now in the comfort zone, past the breaking-in period. I just have to vent.....the thing that I cannot stand most about this job - even more than the pay, the lack of work, etc....is when the dictator CHEWS GUM when he/she is dictating. The sound of someone smacking their gum, whether in person or on the phone, makes me CRAZY. I just finished a day where half it was spent on an ESL dictators doing short progress notes using VR, so had to change almost EVERYTHING. No lines to speak of. Venting session! I am a part-time work-at-home transcriptionist employed at a local hospital as "resource". When I started a couple months ago we had over 1500 jobs in the "cue" with mandatory overtime ... then along came EPIC. The regular employees are working in 2 hour shifts so everyone can get a few reports in ... having under 75 dictations has become the norm and there isn't enough work for them ... and I have had no work for 6 weeks. ...

I just came across "Benzapril" listed as a medication that Speech Wreckignition picked up. Granted, that is how this doctor pronounced it, but it should be "benazepril."
