Prepared for WHAT? - Wondering

[ In Reply To ..]
Muslims don't own or control banks, media, the legal system, or anything else, so what is it that you are suggesting we are supposed to be preparing for?

It is the Eid al-Adha, or Feast of the Sacrifice - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
celebrating the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his only son. It is one of the most holy days in Islam.

What are you implying exactly?

That the Indians won't be working.... - myview

[ In Reply To ..]
When there's one of their holidays, they not only get it off, they aren't working so there's plenty of work for US MTs for a day or 2.

Except ... - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Never once, at least in my area at MQ, has there been any change in the amount of work on a holiday in India.
Has been in mine. Tons of work today cause they wont work - on EIDS, at my tiny MTSO. SM
[ In Reply To ..]
It is same work I would get anyway cause of assigned facilities. At the MTSO I used to work for, they would be begging us to get on and work cause OS didnt have to.
I doubt that Hindus celebrate Muslim holidays - but hey

any excuse for a party!

India is not a Muslim country - Claire

[ In Reply To ..]
How will a Muslim holiday translate to a holiday in a Hindu country? Pakistan, maybe so, as it is a Muslim country, but not India.

While there are Muslims in India, even if they do take off, their Hindu colleagues (who are in the majority) will easily be able to take up the slack.

Ignorance is a prison.
Not ignorance. My MTSO uses Paki OS. Just wasnt clear - on first post. Sorry. nm OP

Muslims only comprise 12% of India's population! - SocialStudies101

[ In Reply To ..]
Oh for crying out loud! How IGNORANT. Do you ever READ or just make things up as you go along?

The primary religion of India is of course HINDUISM, with other religions following suit. Islam is NEAR THE BOTTOM, comprising only 12% of India's population!

Now let's put our thinking caps on, shall we?! If only 12% of the Indians are Muslims, and only a small percentage of Indians are MTs to begin with, HOW MANY Muslim MTs do you think there are, hmmmmm!!??

I know that....thanks for the social study update. - myview
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't care if they are Himdu or Muslim, the point is they are not working on their holiday so more work for us. Another point is THEY do OUR work for cheap rates driving down US MTs chances at making a decent wage. I also do not see how outsourcing work to these countries is not against HIPPA. That includes x-rays sent out for reading. Hope you enjoy your holiday.
take a giant step backwards - other poster
[ In Reply To ..]
There will be no Hindus taking the day off for a Muslim holiday.

As for your shouting: "THEY do OUR work for cheap rates..." let me tell you something. The reason "they" are doing "our" work is because MTSOs are offering it to them. And, if I were them I would take the work. It's foolish for you to blame them.

As for HIPAA, do your homework. HIPAA compliance extends to all workers and entities that have access to protected health information. If there is a HIPAA breach, the MTSO is responsible for it - no matter where it occurs.

There is nothing inherently anti-HIPAA about outsourcing this work to other countries.
Re: ''Social studies update'' - Great post.

Thanks for a refreshingly politically-incorrect post! Always amusing how certain posters, like ''Free-as-a-bird-brain'' flaunt their oh-so-impressive knowledge of Indian trivia as a badge of honor, yet most probably are woefully ignorant about even basic information regarding our country. The condescending ''Ignorance is a prison'' poster would do well to remember that the prison she refers to has more than one cell and she obviously has been an inmate for quite some time. The percentage of muslims in india, like the proverbial price of rice in China, may come in handy in a game of Trivial Pursuit, but the point remains (as you so accurately stated) that off-shoring of our work most certainly DOES drive our wages down and has devastated our industry. These pseudo-intellectual posters need to look in the mirror and recognize that their arrogance is synonymous with stupidity, and it is the height of stupidity to demand that American MTs/QAs just keep silent and meekly accept a grossly unfair situation and join hands for a chorus of ''It's a Small, Small World'' instead. Thanks for a great (and honest) post.
You Confuse FACTS with OPINIONS. - FreeAsABird
[ In Reply To ..]
Reread what I posted.

WHERE did I state an opinion on offshoring, either pro or con?

You assume much, and once agaim YOU LOSE. I am 100% ANTI offshoring of U.S. jobs, including transcription.

Talk about ignorant! You don't even know the DIFFERENCE between FACTS and OPINIONS.

Keep on posting away, though, and showing your backside for everyone to see.

Re: EID - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
The proper name of the holiday is EID, not EIDS. (And no, I am not Muslim but think we should at least know about this holiday.)

Actually Eid only means Feast or celebration - MT

[ In Reply To ..]
and there are many Eids throughout the year, but the Eid Al-Adha and the Eid Al-Futr are the biggest ones.

Well, there's a name for that – it's called "a donation." Starting today, keep track of the donations you make as an MT to your company – you can even print up a form, so you can keep track for an entire month – is it the header you don't get paid for? Just A QA Heads Up
Dec 18, 2012

I've only recently discovered this.  If doctor dictates the age of TP and it's wrong, but you can look at the demo and fix it, don't.  Just blank it.  I just had a major error come to my E-mail about this.  I had changed the age, probably because the physician stated it wrong.  However, when you look up a report in escrption, it doesn't tell the patient's date of birth so you have no way to prove anything.  I'm blanking from now on. &nb ...

HEADS UP REGARDING ASR
Jan 06, 2014

We all know this, but it seems things are getting worse with regard to ASR. I've been noticing it is substituting right for left and vice versa even though the dictation is crystal clear. Also, it is substiting Mr. for Mrs. or Ms. and vice versa even though the dictation is crystal clear. As someone noted previously, it is still making blatant errors in numbers (ages, lab values, vital signs, etc.). These are only a few out of a zillion examples lately. I'm thinking that ASR is regress ...

ANP Transcription - Heads Up To Everyone Out There
Jul 17, 2010

Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone out there.  I have been working for ANP Transcription out of New York for three months now and will NEVER work for them again.  They push, push, push for work to get done but can't seem to send out paychecks on time.  I have had to call and email each month.  Mysteriously, my very first paycheck didn't make the check run and my second check I was told was mailed out on July 9, but I have yet to receive that one, too. ...

Heads Up To The MT's Being Picked To Death. Sm
Dec 11, 2009

Hi folks, I'm an MME and just want to know that I don't like picking your reports to death.  When I have to correct a report, I usually leave comments to help you along.  However, we were told that if anything is missing from the ADT screen, or if we see 1 little mistake, we have to review the whole report.  If the ADT screen is correct, then, unless you're on 100%, we just correct where the QA marker is.  I can't tell you how many times the date of s ...

Precision Transcription -- A Heads Up

I just noticed on another board that this company posted an ad and I wanted to give those of you thinking about applying for the company a heads up.  I worked for the company for a short period of time.  I believe she will hire newbies to MT which is a positive.  However, there is "no pooling of the work types."  There are accounts that are both straight typing and VR, and since straight pays more, you have more people doing that than the VR work.  There are also, what I ...
