Precision Transcription -- A heads up - just passing through

I just noticed on another board that this company posted an ad and I wanted to give those of you thinking about applying for the company a heads up. I worked for the company for a short period of time. I believe she will hire newbies to MT which is a positive. However, there is "no pooling of the work types." There are accounts that are both straight typing and VR, and since straight pays more, you have more people doing that than the VR work. There are also, what I feel to be some "prima donnas" on the accounts, who feel that they are too good to jump in and do at least a few VR files to help get the backlog caught up -- the reason that I know this is that they utilize Yahoo Messenger, and you have to post the work type, the job number and the doctor in your Yahoo Messenger status bar. On the positive side, they pay on time, offer DD pretty good accounts and again, tend to hire "newer MTs."

I was accused of 'cherrypicking' which is something I have never, ever done, and had the proof to back me up. I keep track not only of my job # and lines (because we have to) but also the box I work in and the physician. I work all hours of the day and when some people see that that is all I do, they also do not see the other hours that I work that they are not working. Do people pick and choose, you bet, but it's up to the owner/manager to decide who to keep and who not to keep. I do both VR/straight, all boxes, as well as CCARE, so for me I have a variety. Sure, the pay stinks, but that's what EMR gives us (thank the person who wanted EMR implemented and for dumming down our industry (insert politician name here)).

It's a dog-eat-dog world in the transcription business. I love the fact that I can just work and not be bothered and the pay is on time, all the time. :)

This is just a supplemental income for me, so I don't mind the pay.

Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone out there. I have been working for ANP Transcription out of New York for three months now and will NEVER work for them again. They push, push, push for work to get done but can't seem to send out paychecks on time. I have had to call and email each month. I've only recently discovered this. If doctor dictates the age of TP and it's wrong, but you can look at the demo and fix it, don't. Just blank it. I just had a major error come to my E-mail about this. I had changed the age, probably because the physician stated it wrong. We all know this, but it seems things are getting worse with regard to ASR. I've been noticing it is substituting right for left and vice versa even though the dictation is crystal clear. Also, it is substiting Mr. for Mrs. or Ms. and vice versa even though the dictation is crystal clear. If you have one of those accounts where they want all medication allergies capitalized, note that DQS 7.1 DOES NOT pick up all-cap typos/misspells. This would include typos in the physical exam as well if the subheadings are all caps, but the medication one is more critical. Geeeeeeez. Just when you think you're sailing along... ...
