I live in a rural area and have limited options for internet providers. Currently have satellite but not happy with service. Anyone know anything about Verizon wireless cards? What is the speed comparable to? Dial up? DSL? Thanks

Satellite did not work properly with Meditech platform.

So . . . . around the same time Verizon was coming out with their wireless internet service via your USB port. It has been a lifesaver to me or I would be without a job, literally!

I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. I am told it is just like DSL. Absolutely love it. No problems surfing the web, downloading, etc.

It costs about $60 a month, 2-year contract. I have had it for about probably 1-1/2 years now and I have never gone over my alloted useage downloading/uploading voice files.

It even stays connected during the thunderstorms here in Florida, when my satellite t.v. goes out.

So far can't complain. People might fuss about the 2-year contract but those people have other options, like us in the rural area, we have LIMITED options.

I also use Verizon for my internet service through my USB port. My cost is an additional 30 per month for 5 Gig each month, never gone over either. We use Smart Phones but any phone that can be tethered works. I love it and have been using it for 2 years and would not even consider going back to the "old" ways of DSL, etc. Good Luck

Millenicom wireless doesn't have a contract. They lease Verizon towers.

I am rural too and I have Time-Warner cable. They just ran the lines out here a couple years ago. Time-warner though is not that great. I on average lose connection 4-5 times a day.

and they have a wireless usb (or other option) device to plug into your machine that you can pay by the day, month or year (at least in our area). I thought I might use it with my laptop when I travel. Check the wireless part of their website.

I have had Verizon internet for almost a year now and love it! The connection and speed are excellent. I live in a rural area and my options are limited. The price is higher than I previously paid for DSL but I am very pleased with the service! I would highly recommend it!

Verizon is definitely premier! I bought Verizon Wireless Broadband Internet back sometime this summer and I love it! I think that it is so cool that the user doesn't have to rely on Wi-Fi or wired or whatever and can really take their Internet wherever they go -- it's awesome. It is now my "Internet for life." (You can get Wi-Fi with Verizon Wireless Broadband if you want it. My sister has it and she and her two sons are all on it at the same time, i.e. she is on her laptop, one son is on his iPod, and the other is on a laptop.)

Since we work remotely for MTSOs that may be hundreds or even thousands of miles away, can they really tell if we have DSL or calble or satellite or broadband, etc? I currently use Starband, an older satellite provider. Where I live no DSL, cable or cell phone signal. Starband just raised my monthly rate, so I am looking into switching. On Thursday, Nov 1, 2012, I received a phone call telling me that I was fired. After 19 years of being an MT/MME I was told that my line count was too low. One of my providers is going to switch over to EMR. I've looked into the program and it's got a similar document section to MS Word. However, with them going to EMR, I'm assuming I'll lose quite a bit of my bulk work (macros, etc) that I currently have with "straight typing." I use Express Scribe and for no apparent reason three days ago the internet began shutting down EVERY time I click on my next job - I have to open everything back up up to four times before it will finally open the job. I know there is an internet card that you can buy to get you access to the internet on your computer if you are in an area without direct access. Where would I buy one? Can we use internet through Dish network. I currently have comcast and I absolutely hate this company. We got rid of our cable through Comcast and went with Dish. We kept the internet but the speed is ridiculously slow. Wondering if I can just go with Dish internet instead. If not, what type of internest connection do some of you use if not Comcast. So many websites now are giving the message that the version of IE that we have to use in order to do our work for Nuance is obsolete, not supported.
