I made a big mistake - in taking my new job

Posted: Nov 25, 2014

I'm trying to get my old job back.

I pray you get it. I might get dislikes for this - but was the job at...

TTS? Seems that is a nightmare of a place and everyone I know that has gone there regrets it. I just asked because I know they are constantly hiring. If it's not there then I'm dead wrong I guess, but I know so many people (myself included) that made the horrible mistake of signing on with them.

I hope you get your old job back. Good luck.

TTS - yes, that is it

You're good! Thing is, my old company is Nuance, but at least I know their quirks and other oddities.

Gee...how did I know. I know Nuance is'nt the greatest place - in the world but - SM

I would work there any day before I go back to TTS. That place was one big stressful nightmare. I just kinda figured because they are always hiring. Both myself and a friend of mine recently had bad experiences with them. Did you call and talk to Nuance? Hopefully they will give your job back. If not, try Amphion; they don't pay for spaces, but they pay a little more to make up for it and the people are nice and they are organized, professional, and friendly.

However, I do understand wanting to stick with a company you know so I will pray you get your old job back at Nuance.

Well you don't know me and I frankly love - TTS

I think they hire on slackers because I see SOS for accounts and I have seen "no one working." I have been there several years, do not have issues like others describe here, do my work, get paid on time and make good money.

Okay - So thats your experience and I'm happy for you. - Have a Great Day!

Words of wisdom here... - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Wisdom = knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; discernment, or insight. So I am going to share wisdom here: First of all, I have worked at both Nuance and TTS (as well as MQ aka M*Modal) therefore, I am truly sharing wisdom as I have been there, done that. What is true is that TTS could have been a "great experience" as I see another post describes HER experience there (which is rare, I am sure) -- however, the more seasoned MT would be better off working at the two big MTSOs. Unfortunately, the recruitment process at TTS will promise you the world and make you feel that you have just won the lottery at the time of hiring. But if you are assigned to a team of aggressive QA "admin staff" who feel they have something to prove (which seems to be the majority, not all at TTS among the QA "admin staff" are sharks, but most) and I share this information because I witnessed for myself first hand -- on both sides, both as MT and as part of the QA staff.

My words of wisdom to the OP:

You more than likely made a big mistake in taking the new job at TTS as you describe in your post. However, unless you were lucky enough to be assigned to a fairly tolerable QA staff (which indeed is quite rare over there) -- then I have one word for you -- RUN !!

@ "words of wisdom" - You are 100% on point. TTS is a very Unique - company and not in a good way either.

it was the weirdest, most unusual, unpleasant experience I have ever had in all my working years.

Absolutely so on point!! This was my experience as well. Worst 3 weeks of my working life. Horrible company, horrible management, horrible communication (or lack thereof), horrible dictators . . . need I say more? They are ALWAYS hiring, and that should have been my first clue to run the other way.

I Made A Mistake
May 18, 2010

I just got called by "the boss" about a mistake I made yesterday.  I feel horrible.  I am glad they called.  It was a good heads up for me.  They down played it but still I am feeling upset.  I know it will pass but it's made for a tough morning.  Kinda shakes my confidence.  Thanks for listening. ...

I Made The Awesome Mistake Of.......sm
Dec 07, 2013

deciding to check FIESA this morning.... REALLY DUMB DECISION!  I have just about given up doing correction reversals, especially since ALL of my post-audit QA is done offshore.  And most definitely now because they must've just hired someone off the street over there to do my post audits.  Seriously, there is 1 offshore QA person in particular who will consistently go through my reports and delete text that I have either transcribed or edited (correctly I might add) and put& ...

What Happens When It's The Doctor's Mistake?
Jun 18, 2010

I am a former Spheris MT, now begrudgingly a MQ MT (not that Spheris was all that great either).  As was pointed out below, we are still on Spheris rules for the most part but I don't expect that to last forever.  At Spheris, if we think a doctor has made a mistake, we are encouraged to flag it but that entails putting in a blank, just as if we didn't understand the dictator.  If we have too many blanks in a given period, we lose our incentive pay.  They do not diff ...

Payroll's Mistake
Feb 10, 2012

Today the payroll dept made a mistake and everyone who was working got clocked off in error.  Now CCM wants us to go in and fix it ourselves.  Next thing you know they will be sending us a tutorial on how to fix our own computers.  I am so tired of all the things we have to do for no pay that I want to scream.  It's bad enough that we are paid so little for doing what we were hired to do, we get nothing for all the things we have to do that were not in our job descriptio ...

Coming Across A Mistake

I was looking over already transcribed reports by others to check on a medication and came across a mistake that really makes us look foolish and is something, IMHO, that any transcriptionist would know and this doctor speaks good English.  Would you notify QA so they can correct the report or notify the hospital to correct the report?  Thanks for your opinion.  ...

Learn From My Mistake About Picking A Good Coding Program
Jan 20, 2012

I am in my last semester of an HIT program at my local community college.  This program is accredited through CAHIIM.  I actually found this program on the AHIMA website as an approved AHIMA coding program and was so excited that it was in my hometown.  Well, almost two years later and $4000 in student debt, I still have no idea how to code.  Sure, I'm great at Math 101 and English 101 and my anatomy is amazing, but I have no idea how to code.  One class that I have ...

Apr 10, 2010

Well, I don't know if the pool our area was sent because of NJA is affecting that regions MTs, but I for one want to say thank you God for sending me some absolutely marvelous, clear and concise easy dictation!!!! Yes Virginia, there is an Easter bunny... (oh, I believe that is Santa Claus). Now I can see why some MTs on here never complain. All MT work, no ASR so far. I am in heaven. Too bad it won't last long, even though my regular primary was not that bad, I just never re ...

Someone Made

comment about only unions being able to organize a strike.  That just leaves everybody else powerless and without resource?  No. Leave, call in sick, take all day to do one report, send jobs through without editing, walk off, stop work.  Plan ahead for you next job, and that's a smart thing to do, obviously.  In the meantime, walk off anyways. Massive oppression requires massive action. Being ignored requires we do something loud to be heard. They have already hit us ...

ASR Lets Get Some Changes Made!

I just really want to encourage all of you to make note of things ASR is doing wrong and sending the info in either to support@ or to your CCM.  I have been sending things in and actually getting some changes made here and there.  If we all did it maybe we could help ourselves out at least a little bit. Well, I Made About $25 Today
Aug 26, 2013

This is working for an MTSO who only hires full-time employees, but yet again NJA most of the day today. We do not have to punch a time clock, but is this really legal? This company may "route" you jobs at any time of day and they require you to be "available" from 7 AM to 5 PM, whether there is work or not. If the work is routed to you though, you best be there (available) to do the work or else you get the nasty grams from the owner. Again, IS THIS LEGAL? ...
