Has anyone ever failed a MT enrollment test? - Insulted or not?

Have any of you ever failed an enrollment test for a MT course? How did you feel about it? Did you get angry or upset or did you try again?
no but - mttina

and this is not a slam at you as I don't know you, but more people SHOULD fail. This field is not for everybody. If schools were less about profits and more about who really has the basics necessary to succeed as an MT, the field might look a little different.
Perhaps you should rethink your goals?
Good luck!
Depends who is testing - sm

If the test cost you money, it is a scam. So many trade schools are scams today. If I listened to everyone who told me I could do something or I should try something else because I failed a test I would not be where I am today. I speak from my own experience, i.e. I was told when I was younger that I was âSlowâ, had âADHDâ, then later was diagnosed by a doctor with âDyslexiaâ and with all these diagnoses I am an MLS today and a good one. I might have had to work harder than some, but I did and I am amazed at my progress in life. On the other side, people told me I was so good with people I should be a nurse or a nurse aide. Well I went to a trade school for CNA and I passed the entire written test with Aâs, however, I could not pass my practical âthe test where they actually have you test your skills on peopleâ. I did not retake the test because for me I found even though others thought I was good with people working with them in a clinical setting was not for me. So these things have to come from your heart.
Because of this economy right now a lot of trade schools are scams in my opinion, but they are the quickest way for some to get a new career unfortunately, but investigate thoroughly. Try your best to investigate for a school with a good reputation. Good luck with YOUR decision.
It would depend on the test, I suppose - Not unheard of

You kind of have to put this into perspective. Most schools do not have a test. They care only for your money, so it is to their advantage to enroll everyone. They are utterly unconcerned if you fail the course or ever get a job.
There is one reputable school that has a test. They use it becaue they do not want you to waste your time and money if you do not have a good chance of success. I took it once. It seemed to be looking for the things that show the ability to do well in school plus do well later on. Grammar and such, but also the ability to follow instructions, complete the test ethically, and so forth.
I would not become angry. There is no reason for that. Perhaps you did not know enough, but perhaps you misunderstood or did not follow the instructions. If they did not give an explanation I would ask for one. Take it to heart and try again.
If you do become angry or very upset, that is an indication that the school is not your cup of tea. A different one might suit you better.
So, I go through the grammar portion of the test, use a ton of reference materials when I needed to and I failed the test? Huh???!!! There wasn't even a place that told me what my score was! I have 10+ years in this field and can't see how I failed the test and it's just not sour grapes on my part.
This kind of shakes me to the core and makes me not want to apply anywhere else!
Anyone else have this happen? ...
Took the test a few days ago and haven't heard anything back. Does anyone know if they advise you of a pass/fail, or do you only hear from them if you pass and are offered a position?
TIA? ...
I am very upset, I took the radiology test and they say that I failed it and I don't see how. I have been a radiology transcriptionist for 20 years. There were only two questions on the multiple choice questions that I was uncertain of and the typing was easy. Has anybody else encountered this? ...
I took the test and scored a 92.91 and I needed a 96 to pass. I feel like a failure. The fourth report that I was given was a difficult dictator (a fast talker).
My question is, do you know when we can retest. Is it 90 days? ...
After failing the Medquist test in September 2009, they just e-mailed me today saying Medquist - Eligible to Retest. Just a few hours later, I got another e-mail saying "Employment Update - Medquist. You are eligible to retest."
I thought a lot of people are losing their jobs at Medquist. Why the desperate urge to hire, especially people who failed their employment test?

I must be getting too old for this and losing grey cells. Totally ashamed. I thought the testing was difficult, but....
Either retirement or change of career may be in store for me. ...
By making silly mistakes that you can't even believe you made!? Oh, I did. Today. I think I would kick myself in the brain if I could. I feel so defeated. ...
Anyone hear any rumblings yet about Open Enrollment? Last year at this time we were already sent emails to "get ready" for it...so far this year, nothing. I heard that other companies were making the spousal/partner "penalty" for not taking insurance was going to go up to $500! We are now paying $100/month...let's hope that won't be the case, as that would essentially be one of my paychecks. Wonder what surprises are in store for us. Maybe we won' ...
I was on family UHC Choice and now being forced to MS HRA. My deductable went from 1500 to 6000!! Max out of pocket from 5000 to 20,000!! Instead of paying a $25/50/100 copay for my doctor/specialist/ER visits, its 30% after the outrageous deductable. But they cover routine physical 100% and they contribute $500...bah! Fuming. ...
I got an email about open enrollment for PT flex, PT limited and and FT limited.
Well, what about FT regular? Why does everything have to be so long and drawn out and complicated with this company. I just want the darn information! ...
Just wondering if anybody has the information for accessing the open enrollment page. MQ email is having major issues with me this morning and I can't access any of emails right now. ...
I think they said open enrollment was coming up in June didn't they? Can you get just dental? Anyone have any experience with it? Worth it? Expensive? We lost our dental last year and with the 4 of us, I'm wondering if it would be worth it to get it through the M. Thanks! ...
Thankfully (but sadly) a death in the family has given me the finances and the free time to concentrate on it and work only part time. Here's hoping I am as motivated as I think I am. ;)
For anyone who has done Andrews, with something like terminology and anatomy, did your MT experience (I have 15 years) and superior research skills allow you to complete that module faster than expected? Doesn't matter in the long run because I want it right more than I want it fas ...
info or do they plan on giving us their usual 4-1/2 days to scramble to compare their horrible insurance to something we could get on the state exchanges? ...
for a family plan will be in the range of $48K+ to over $50K per year.
The company pays 3/4, something like $36,000+/year, leaving me about $1,000/per month to pay for the cheaper plan, $12k a year, for a policy with $2500 individual deductibles/$5000 per family before it even starts paying, plus copays. I wish I could get the company to pay me that $36K to go in the bank instead.
If my husband had health insurance, I could go employee alone for $100/month (1/10th as much), but he ...
I have never seen such a disorganized operation. We've been getting forms periodically emailed. Many forms don't have adequate instructions on where they're supposed to be sent. State tax forms haven't been sent to everyone as they should have been. Some employees haven't even gotten news about what they'll be paid next year, and yet they're expected to choose benefits without knowing what they'll be earning.
This has been incredibly stressful and unneces ...
Well - I am finally moving! Started applying to non-MT jobs this week. Have known it, have been saying it, but just could not bring myself to do it.
We just did open enrollement for 2014. I now am paying $430 a month for my spouse and I to get contracted insurance rates - because that (and the wellness benefits) are ALL that it covers (not even pharmacy) until we pay $7500 together, then it covers a WHOPPING 75% till we pay $12,500 for our max out of pocket.& ...
I failed ANOTHER test. This time I made it all the way through and took the transcription part of the test. I was just informed that my scores were not QUITE what they need to be. I think I am about ready to give up........I swear......... ...
